  1. I wanted to make sure I knew what was meant by "TERVIS TUMBLER"

Online, they appear to be insulated drinkware for hot or cold.

The Coffee shop on the Miracle sold one that held a Large drink for $8.00.

When purchased, you get a free drink, then a coupon for another free drink after , I think it was 6 purchases.

We found this to be a great deal to satisfy our coffee needs.

The cup held cold drinks well, also.

The gift shop had the exact same cup for $ 11.00.

So take a look at the coffee shop and see if that deal is still offered.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip! :)

  2. So you would deprive everyone of a tip because you are mad at the steward? Why should the dining room staff lose out? I really wish Carnival would build the tips into the price of the cruise, thereby eliminating the opportunity for people to weild those grats over the heads of the crew in a power trip

Power trip indeed. Its not only cruel it make absolutely NO sense for people to do this.

I been rallying and sending commentary to Carnival about building tips into the criuse price but apparently I'm one of a few, because people like to take it out on the little guy rather then complain to corporate where it belongs.

  3. Keep an eye on it during the cruise. I had over 600 dollars worth of holds...for 21.99 worth of purchases. I about freaked out, but thankfully they did all clear out.

This happened to me one cruise to the tune of $1,100 for only $300 worth of charges. The charges were being multiplied daily and the day before holds was taking days to drop off. That prompted me to never use a CC on a cruise again. Cash at port during check-in is all we do.

  4. We did a 4 day cruise on Ecstasy a few months ago and found the roll call dead then as well. It just seems that the shorter cruises have little to no action in roll calls. All of the roll calls for the 7+ day cruises were always active for me.

I loved my cruise on Ecstasy, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

  5. Yes ... anyone who thinks the "Mexican Fiesta" is the same thing as a "Midnight Buffet" is new to cruising, lol ...

Ask anyone who cruised back in the 80's what comes to mind when you say "midnight buffet" ... and they will tell you: -- Huge, lavish buffets, with several very large ice sculptures and fruit sculptures, and FOOD FOOD FOOD, I mean tables and tables of food - These were the biggest buffets I had ever seen and were always in the main dining room, and people stood in line for an hour to just LOOK at it and take pictures ... then stand in another line to get the food.

Ahh, yes ... I remember a couple midnight buffets and I miss them. This would be the only reason I would consider a Journey cruise.

    Cheers!

Some of us arent nowhere new to cruising. But your referencing something that happened 20 years ago. So yeah...

  6. Was on Ecstasy last November and made 2 quick calls per day (morning and evening) to my kids back home. Calls were clear and I was relieved it worked as well as it did. Before that cruise I bought a package with Skype thinking the phone calls thru skype would work and the internet on the boat was not having it! Got a bill for about $80 at the end and it was worth it for my piece of mind!

  7. I feel silly, I've never bought anything with the ships name on it on any of our cruises!

I always seem to come home with multiple cheap jewelry/watch sets for some odd reason that never make it out of the boxes. I usually come across them during packing for the following cruise months later and they go in a donation bin or gifted to some teenager. :D

Going to have to at least buy a shirt next cruise. Or anything with the Carnival name on it for that matter...

  8. I knew I had seen one previously and just co-incidentally, I'm reading a review on the NCL board by a cruiser that also sails Carnival and she's the one that did it ... she reviews her cruises as her son, it's very entertaining.

Anyway, here's a link to the review with pictures as to what she did to her sons crib. It's near the bottom of the review and around a crib, but could easily be adapted to go around the sofabed.

I love ProfCruise reviews! I tried the curtain thing on Victory and I failed miserably though. So maybe it doesnt work for every ship! But its worth a try.

  9. agree 1000000000000000000000000000000% new and bigger is not always better....

Ditto, I actually like the smaller and older ships WAY better then these new massive ones. Meet more people that way, and things arent so crowded everywhere standing around like cattle...

  10. I switched to a travel organizer since all the stuff tends to fall out of the pockets when it's folded to put in the suitcase or take out of the suitcase to hand. The travel organizer is zippered.

Same here, I have a 4 compartment zipper thing that has the metal hanger and cloth tabs as well which holds alot.

  11. And I will leave my steward tips the same. Thing is, I get it. Gratuity is to clean my stateroom. There is nothing in writing or no guarantee that my room has to be serviced twice a day based on the amount of gratuities paid.

If everything is supposed to be the same and never change, why am I paying twice the amount for a candy bar half the size that it was 5 years ago?

*applause* Thank you! Nowhere in any cruise documentation did it ever mention twice a day stateroom service. Not in the contracts, not online, not anywhere. Ever. I still have the pdfs of cruise contracts from years ago. They are all complaining about something that was never promised in the first place. All this talk about cutting tips is just them throwing a tantrum which only sticks it to the little guy. Going from 20 to 35 rooms is a 75% increase in workload! We had a 15 page thread expressing outage over $1 increase in a measly pack of water, but a 75% increase in backbreaking work for the people who make your cruise wonderful is acceptable? WTH?

  12. 32 cruises, 26 on Carnival from the Mardi Gras to the Magic and the doors aren't locked. Ever.

    .

And you have walked the entire ship each time to check all doors right?

Locked or not, that doesn't negate the fact that the doors are no doubt CLOSED for a reason with a sign saying to stay out unless your platinum+ or FTTF. I don't see how hard that concept is to grasp.

  13. Multiply you by a couple hundred others and then clogging up the hallway takes on new meaning.;)

Another example of "the rules don't apply to me" selfishness. I'm sure "Stewart" was thrilled to drop everything he was doing to take care of your rule-breaking request.

Wholeheartedly agree! I bet the people that "see no problem" breaking the rules and dropping off early are usually the same ones that are either complaining about not seeing the room steward, threatening to drop tips OR mad that their room wasn't clean enough. All the little extra tasks and interruptions DO add up. This behavior wouldn't fly at a hotel I don't see why people can't grasp this on a cruise which is essential a floating hotel.

  14. Wouldn't the Ship Mate App require Internet package ($25/7 day cruise assuming it is included in Social Media)? whereas the Carnival Hub App does not ($5/cruise).

I would have both loaded prior to departure, and see if the Hub App works.

Ship mate app is not one that is included in the social media package. Your have to get the regular Internet to use ship mate which is $60 for the cruise. If you don't want to use Facebook try Whatsapp.

  15. 3 cruises...I leave mine out. Lock the screen, log off or shut down. The steward isn't going to steal your laptop. But if you want to lock it up, I'd get a lock for your suitcase or something. It won't fit in the safe.

Mine will be going in the safe. Some smaller laptops and macbook airs do fit in the safe.

  16. Yep, I missed his "out there" touch on the Breeze. His style is over the top, but he kept Carnival ships from looking like mega mall food courts. That's exactly what the Lido buffet area felt like to me on the Breeze, a mega mall food court. So far, in this thread, it looks about 50% appreciate Fargus' vision and 50% hate it. That's about what I would have expected. Would I want a Fargus designed house? No. But it's fun in one week increments.

Love this. I like being in a wild environment for the week. Plus it feels like being on Fremont street in Vegas to me the while week on his ships!
