I (we) cruise because being on a ship is like a 2nd home. We now spend 20-25% of our time on cruise ships and DW has actually remarked, as we were walking aboard a cruise ship, "we are home." As to the reasons, there are so many (including most all mentioned above) but I think that our love of the sea is paramount. In fact we once joked that we would enjoy a 6 month cruise of sea days. On some of our long cruises it seems like we almost resent the port days which take us away from our beloved sea day relaxation routine.

I can only dream to do that much cruising 😃

What a deal??
We booked AQ on the Reflection for Mar 2 2020. It is $4543.27 total that includes the classic Bev pack and $200 SBC. The deposit is refundable or transferable as it was booked with a future cruise.
With the new promotion the cost would be $8956.50 with all the perks and a non refundable deposit.
Should I rebook for the promo to get all the perks? 🤔 DAH
It is always best to wait for the better deals than booking early. There will also be better deals after final payment. 💰🤗. Really????
I am sure that many will think it is a great deal because of the promo but the cost is ridiculous for 11 days. We also have a SS booked doing a B2B and it is $6207 for 10 days that includes all the perks and $700 SBC
People need to wise up
happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
We booked our cruise for January about a year ago. We have 3 perks and the total cost for the both of us is now about the same price per person! If we were to book now it would be double what we paid!

I'm looking for the night of January 20th for me and my husband. Looking at no more than $200 for the night. Seeing that they kick us off the ship in the am, will need the availability of secured luggage storage until check in is allowed.

I have already booked our hotel for pre-cruise for a few days, however still looking for a hotel for one night post cruise. I've been looking at Tryp by Wyndam or La Quinta Inn and Suites. Has anyone stayed at these hotels or can you suggest a good hotel with a not too high nightly rate?
thanks

Only if I won the lottery 😁

We booked our January 2020 cruise about a year and a half out. What we booked at includes 3 perks and a large balcony on the hump. The pricing today for the same cruise in a regular balcony, the rate per person with two perks is more than The total price for both of us with 3 perks

It is crazy! We booked our January cruise about 18 months prior to sale date. Just tried a mock booking for a similar cabin and the price has more than doubled and only has 2 perks, where I have 3.
That is totally crazy!!!!!!!

I used to commute into Vancouver from the burbs where I live and the commuter train I took was right next to the cruise port. Saw Celebrity ships there in the Alaska cruise season.
We had cruised Holland and Princess before and were looking for an itinerary that would bring us back to Vancouver from Hawaii. For us it was the internet that was the source, It was a choice of Celebrity and Royal Caribbean and we chose Celebrity. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip, especially the no smoking in the casino!
We we are now booked on the Reflection in January and are very excited 😆

In November 2017 we did our first cruise with Carnival. We have been on Princess, Holland America, Celebrity as well as Carnival
While sitting on the Serenity deck (adult only deck) we were witness to this lovely show! It started with a couple of guys and then grew. While not great to look at it gave us a good laugh.
This group called themselves "Hashers". They had different theme days on the cruise. The photo was Mankini day, they also had days for bright crop tops, red dress day, both men and women dressing in both categories. I can't recall what the other days were.
John Heald is the Carnival Brand Ambassador who has a very active Facebook page, so I decided to post a cheeky message to him with the picture. Later that day while I was having a snooze in our stateroom, the phone rang. It was customer service calling me to ask if I had any concerns about the behavior on the Serenity deck. Social media can be incredible. Mr Heald who lives in the UK it seems thought I was upset and had the staff contact me. 😲
I spoke with a bunch of them over the next few days, except for a few, most were very nice and respectful.
We likely will not go on another Carnival ship We had a very good time, but it wasn't the gentleman 😁 in this photo that turned us off, it was the amount of smoke you encounter even 3 decks away from the casino. Celebrity will now be our likely cruise of choice as they allow no smoking inside, even the casino

We had an aft wrap suite on our Alaska cruise a few years ago out of Vancouver. It was with Holland America on the Zuiderdam. We were on the way to Juneau scheduled to dock at noon if I remember correctly. We sat on the balcony for a couple of hours in the morning watching a large pod of whales swim off into the distance (binoculars were needed after a while) it was an amazing sight. If we were on the side we wouldn't have had the great view of them that we did for so long.

In 2011 we were in Waikiki and returning from an early morning walk ran into an ex co worker who was staying in the same hotel. We are from Vancouver. hadn’t seen him in about 5 years.

Checked ours and it’s over $3000 more than what we booked for.

Can't you still file a claim with your travel insurance, if you have any copays, etc.? You were injured during a coverage period.
I didn't seek medical attention so nothing to claim. Here in Canada our medical is all covered by our health care system.

I know this isn’t Celebrity cruise related but wanted to share as our next big vacation will be on a Celebrity cruise.
i have shared on the travel insurance page as well.
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to share an experience, not cruising, but from our recent all inclusive vacation in Mexico
Mid way through the week, I injured my foot. Wasn’t looking where I was going and tripped. As it was able to walk on it I thought it was just a bad bruise or maybe a crack. So decided to just take it easy for the rest of the week and lounge around the pool and have it looked at when I get home.
So when we got home yesterday I drove myself to the hospital with no issues (it’s my right foot) thinking I’m wasting their time as it is likely bad bruising. Only to find out I broke the 5th metatarsal (bigger bone on the baby toe side).
Had to call my hubby come down and get me and the car as I shouldn’t be driving. Now have an air cast and an appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon on Monday at the cast clinic. I have an air cast for now, but may need surgery as I waited to have it looked at. We have travel medical insurance and I should have used it, may have prevented the possible need for surgery as I walked on my foot for four days. While I didn’t walk around much, may have done more damage.
So so my point is, have travel medical and use it if you need to!

We had already booked a non refundable so it was and easy choice for me.
We originally booked with one perk (drink package) and prepaid gratuities. Then there was a price drop, got about $150 off the cruise fair and $100 on board credit in the Edge promotion
With this new one, already being non refundable, took the 3 perks - Bev Pkg, Wifi, and $300 on board credit. Also got $80 off the cruise fare. The onboard credit will cover the gratuities that we had prepaid and we've gained an expensive Wifi package
We did lose the $100 Edge promo onboard credit but we gained about $500 CDN in the wifi package
Overall we saved about $480 CDN

So, you're going to be wasting the entire year of 2019 not having taken a cruise? Yikes!
Trying an all inclusive in 2019. Have never done one before

Just wondering, OP, what are you doing the rest of 2018 and all of 2019? You need to feed your addiction, otherwise it might be cured and you don't want that, do you?
We are doing an all inclusive in January 2019. We’ve never done one before. Been on a bunch of cruises but never an all inclusive. As for the rest of 2018 we have a trip planned to visit family in Saskatchewan.
Having the cruise [emoji568] to plan gives me something to look forward to [emoji2]

Had a conversation today about flight costs while having a pedicure. Prices are all over the map for flights depending on where you live.
I live in Vancouver Canada and I was able to book a flight from Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale for $400 per person.
On on a good deal Vancouver to Newfoundland is $750 per person. *****
