  5. For anyone that has been on the Nieuw Statendam - DH is interested in what is available in the evening to do after dinner, we looked on the HAL website, and we have cruised on the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam. Any ideas of something different based on your experiences? What I have come up with so far: --Movie on the Lido --Show in Theater --BB King (but so loud!) --Rolling Stones --Casino --Stroll along the promenade --Lounges with bars We enjoy each others company enough to find some fun things to do together! (Sounds odd, doesn't it? 😅) Of course, we love meeting new people! We are booking the Thermal Suite! I had hoped some of you have new and different experiences! And since at least 5 ships will be in St. Thomas, we are hanging on the ship this time - - - - Thanks everyone! Mimi, VA
  6. There are a number of excursions available on our itinerary for HMC on the website. I am assuming you have already logged in and looked at the possibilities. Maybe you didn't move over to the right enough? It is crazy they would not have them on there. GOOD LUCK!

  8. Thank you for sharing her Blog, I have not been on CC for a bit, and was not aware. I started reading her Blog, and my heart weeps for her. Such a terribly sad time for her, I pray she can fight this, find healing, find peace and I know she is thankful to be home. @Scrapnana .. Kathy - we live about 40 miles north of Richmond! You need anything, girl, you just let us know! I can make some wonderful homemade rolls! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Mimi
  9. A cruising newbie? How very exciting for you! You will have a lovely time just reviewing cruisecritic.com - it seems in addition to wonderful information, people also become friends! I think if my husband would want to, I would cruise 4 or 5 times a year, but we live in Virginia, so there are not that many ports we can easily drive to. And flights right now…no, we won’t discuss that right now! 😵‍💫 My few tips……research, search every cruise website, compare pricing, check out lodging if needed asap upon booking. Prices are crazy sometimes, especially right now. Lots of YouTube videos that can be helpful. And going back to bags for a minute….the last few times we have cruised, I have taken a cotton, lightly quilted bag with a zipper. Big enough for 2 beach towels, phones, lotion, 2 bottles of water, a few snacks and any other little things. Of course, I get DH to carry, but what a I carry, depends on the port. ENJOY CRUISING!
  10. I cannot find an answer here - Can we purchase Flights, through Flight Ease using Gift Cards? TIA
  11. We book prior to cruise - for 7 days it is $149.00 per person. As @Ferry_Watcher stated - it will be on the website: "Already Booked"
  12. Anyone familiar with hotels that offer the Park and Cruise package? I found one but it does not have great ratings. Thanks Mimi .. VA

  16. Our last cruise out of Tampa was pre-Covid, but we stayed at Hyatt Place.Tampa Airport Westshore. They provided free breakfast, shuttle to port and we parked our car there…again free. We loved this hotel.
  17. …..And friends, this right here, reflects one of the essential reasons how Cruise Critic is so helpful. An excellent question, quick and helpful answers and bam! @cruisin'mama got the answer she needed! 😂😉 Problem Solved! Mimi, VA (I just got a gift card from HAL as a refund on a cancelled excursion, BUT it is almost $100 less that what I am due, I guess a phone call is necessary)
  18. You sound like us, then you will have a lovely time. Happy sailing!
  19. I guess with GPS and exact destinations, we were fine. 😃😂
  20. We are sailing on NS the 5th of November. I called HAL to find out when I could print Boarding Pass and they said it would be available when our boarding time is provided. So when will we get the boarding time friends? Only 3ish weeks away! 😎 Thanks! Mimi, VA
  21. We were on the Elation in April for 5 days out of Jacksonville. It was the smallest ship we have ever been on. We booked a suite, not a balcony as usual, because suites had a small sofa. We were on deck 9, forward. We enjoyed the smaller ship experience. We are in early 70's, still quite mobile and active, and are simply not bells and whistles people. I must agree, the Lido was not the best except for breakfast. The BEST omelets in the world! We relaxed, hung out at the Atrium bar and enjoyed Electric Waves violinists very much. We found staff to be efficient, helpful and pleasant - everywhere. Jacksonville is a pretty easy city to travel around. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza the night before and left our car there, then splurged and booked a limo both ways. I would do the Elation again...... I hope you have a great time! Mimi, Virginia
  22. I just looked at my app and it has changed the requirements, this is what it states now: ”1. COVID-19 Health Review. This step will become active 30 days prior to embarkation date. Complete to fulfill COVID-19 health requirements. A vaccination OR Test is required. 2. Complete Health Assessment…” So here it is, amended for new rules on ships!
