  1. We have sailed Seabourn Quest and Sojourn and I like their size.    We are now sailing on the Azamara Journey and have found it quite comparable with the Quest and Journey.    We are in the lowest category suite so the cabin size is larger than normal verandas on Seabourn.   There are two specialty restaurants included in the suite price.   You also receive one bag of laundry a week, more if you are a captains club member.   Wines and drinks are also included.   There is a charge for higher end alcohol and better wines.   It’s a very similar product and they have some interesting itineraries.   There are two special events a cruise, one being a white night party at the pool with staff and the second being an off ship event such as a musical event in one of your overnight ports.    This line is worth a try.

  2. Hope they don’t allow guests for White night.    There are not enough tables for the current passengers and the wait for food in the lines is extra long.    Doubt your friends would enjoy that.    Isn’t there a wonderful place in Bermuda to take them for a meal?   We are on the Journey right now and the ship is quite nice but will be nothing to impress friends unless the have never been on a small upscale cruise ship.   You will enjoy the cruise and the personnel are exceptional.

  3. I hope they don’t modify the IV cabins to allow the air conditioning on when the window is open!    How often do you do that at home?    We grew up in a household where we were reminded that our father didn’t work for the electric company and we were not to air condition or heat the outside!   No open doors or windows while the heat or air conditioning was turned on.   Surprised anyone would want it otherwise.

Despite the title of the thread, guess the passengers are no longer sleeping on deck.   What other severe problems are being experienced other than the shops not being open?

  5. This is an example of starting a thread too soon.   The luggage was on the plane although charged to a different passenger with the same name on the same voyage.    The title of the thread may make some passengers hesitant to use luggage valet because the OP lost bags.   This would be incorrect and misleading.

  6. Credit cards work fine for most ports.   In Cuba (Celebrity doesn’t go there), you need cash if you are from the U.S.    If you exchange U.S. currency you are charged an extra fee.   It is best to use your Euros, Canadian Dollars or pounds to get the best exchange rate.    Azamara and RCL do go to Cuba, maybe Celebrity will go in the future.

  7. Sailed three times with this service all in a Royal Suite.   No difference in the time we received our luggage, certainly not priority.   I expected priority handling like we gettraveling business/first class on United.   Ours are always in the first ten off of the plane.   I guess Celebrity does not store them in a special area to be delivered first.   This should include the Celebrity Suites as you pay much more than Sky Suites for zero benefits.

  8. $1500 a day for a Celebrity Suite is much too much.   We have enjoyed Cunards

Queens Grill and Seabourn’s Owner’s Suite for much less.   On Azamara now and

have booked a transatlantic in one of the higher suites for less than half the cost of the RS on the Silhouette crossing last year.   Celebrity needs to rethink their prices.   Those of us in the Elite + category have nothing to lose switching lines.  Of course on Azamara, your captains club credits transfer.    I can’t wait until we hear something similar on Silver Seas.   They have so many wonderful destination and are not stuck with the ports that can take large ships.

  9. Sounds like a good opportunity to enjoy a Suite and all of its perks for less than $3k.    Luminae is a much better place to dine than the MDR.   You can come whenever you want, no reservations and no waits.   The room will certainly be more comfortable for three passengers, with a larger balcony as well.   One problem would be that you won’t be satisfied with less than Suite class on future

sailings.   Cunard knew what they were doing when they upgraded us from a Britannia veranda to the Queens Grill Q5.    We have never gone back to lower staterooms.

  10. I don’t think RCL will bring down the Silversea product.   We have sailed Seabourn and enjoyed the product.   We are now on Azamara (under RCL) and are enjoying it as much as Seabourn at a lesser cost.    If they have not ruined Azamara they won’t hurt Silversea.    My only question is why they would keep two lines appealing to the same passengers.    They may want to raise the class of Silversea but Seabourn passengers would be happy with Azamara.

  11. I have never been on a cruise where you did not fill out the health questionnaire.   This includes US, Italian, Spanish, UK, UAE and Australian embarking ports.

On Azamara Journey now, no stomach virus problems, however many of those folks with allergies and chronic sinus problems are hacking away.   Trying to stay

upwind of them.    The sinus problems and allergies are spreading!   The Captain was on Sick Leave for two days but has returned to duty.    Perhaps more attention should be paid to respiratory problems.

  12. You should be able to find another sailing at this time.   Perhaps you could look at sisters ships or those on the Azamara line.   Your benefits carry over to them and they have good itineraries.    Suite vs suite with Celebrity, we find the service and food on Azamara to be much better than Celebrity.   Pricing is equivalent r less for a suite.

  13. There will be MISO soup on JAL but you will have the option of a Japanese or English style meal.   Last year when we flew to Osaka on JAL the Business Class seats were not lie flat.   You will be at an angle, like a recliner.   Gave me trouble sleeping but my husband can sleep any where.

  14. The YF vaccine in readily available at our local health department.   Being in a military area may have had an impact.    Saw quite a few new cases showing in Brazil, March 28.    When we traveled to RIO cruising to Manaus we had the vaccine.   We also had to take the Malaria Tablets while onboard.   If you get Malaria you are never rid of it, at least with YF you have a 50% chase of survivingdepending on your health.    There is no treatment for YF.

  15. We are on the Journey now and enjoyed the spa hot tub area.   It was nice and quiet and folks had private conversations without shouting.    That did change later in the afternoon when a couple went into the hot tub and proceeded to shout at each other.   Don’t think they were aware they were so loud as they had the minimal bubbles on and thought they needed to shout to be heard.   Everyone on the deck had to listen.    I guess this is not a quiet area as it is on Celebrity, Cunard and Seabourn.   On those lines it only became noisier when the spa personnel were speaking to guests.   Guess there is no quiet lounge area on this ship.
