  1. I always come home with a little extra foreign currency. I put it aside in a drawer with a note to my grandson that upon my demise, he is to return it all to the country of origin.
  2. Excursion prices seem to bounce around based on demand. I watched one increase by $10 before I booked it. A couple weeks later, it’s back to the earlier price point (no discount shown). Still “20 available “. I will cancel and rebook to save $20.
  3. Thanks for the “Live”. You did a nice job. I followed avidly in anticipation of our 6/15 Enchanted sailing.
  4. I did some last year on an Alaskan cruise. But I don’t think I could tell you if we were in US, Canadian or international waters. I met one poor lady there whose luggage didn’t make it to the ship. She was doing a wash every other day, and probably wearing her underwear inside out between laundry days.
  5. I get it. But we were newbs. Incompatible tablemates sent us headlong into NCL Freestyle dining, which we found we preferred 1,000%.
  6. Some is outrageous. We had a good relationship with all the bartenders. We pick a bar and patronize it every night of a cruise. I’m sure he’d have been warned about a $65 shot, though.
  7. If you wish, you should have the ability to cancel your order and start fresh, specifying port pick up. I did that, although in my case I went from port pick up to home delivery. If you do this, your medallions will be waiting for you at the port instead of needing to be made when you show up at the blue lane desk without them. Saves time, but I don’t know how much.
  8. I suppose it’s possible to bring a shaker or two of salt-free seasoning mix onboard. You shouldn’t have to, but it might make the difference between bland and tasty.
  9. Of course. It would be free for everyone if no one saw the value in paying for it.
  10. We tend to sit at the bar when drinking and every bartender has warned me “you know this is over your $15 per drink Plus limit, right?” If I ordered something that was even just $1 over. And the $1.18 always shows afterwards in my folio. Unfortunately, in Vines it’s always way more than $1.
  11. This is true. Only alcoholic beverages count toward the 15.
  12. I believe the water available on the ship comes from reverse osmosis filters. It shouldn’t have anything in it but water. I drink it in the MDR and don’t taste anything. But a personal flask is just one more thing to pack or leave somewhere by mistake, so I usually go through 3-5 bottles of water a day from the nearest bars.
  13. A medallion is like Valium, only bigger and you don’t swallow it. Same effect.
  14. The aft MDRs are my favorites. I’ve found them less crowded and chaotic at opening time because they are slightly less accessible. I’m hoping they are reserved DMW. But it’s very possible they will not be.
  15. Do you have the Plus or Premier package? If so, there should be no charge.
  16. The app now shows us needing to order medallions. The website correctly shows that we have already ordered them.
  17. I linked with my daughter’s booking number on the old app and reserved a table for all of us. On the new app I still have a table for six, but I thought I could see the names of my linked table mates on the old app and can no longer. Your post is a reminder to check with them that they still show a table for six at the correct time and location. I agree that the new app brought new problems.
  18. It means you’ve paid for those things. It isn’t automatic. You will still need to select the holder and request delivery.
  19. Does this cheese free pizza show up on the menu or do I have to ask for it?
  20. Maybe it’s a tool for ordering ingredients for the galley. Maybe it’s a trigger for staff training. Maybe, if no one advised them in advance, they could shut down the special galley. Who knows? It takes all of a minute to fill out.
  21. Same here. We were never fans of all aspects of traditional dining. We like having a reservation, and the same waitstaff is nice. But table sharing has been less than ideal in the past.
  22. We got it to work on Sapphire, did not try it on Caribbean. I do need not think we will need it for Enchanted in June because we are a table of 6. But I’m prepared to ask.
  23. You can google spring break dates and see when colleges across the US and Canada will be on break next year. March has the most, but there are some schools out at the end of February and beginning of April. We sailed Caribbean princess in week 1, March 2023 and saw no kids on a 10 day voyage. We liked the ship, saw nothing to complain about. Best crew we’ve ever encountered. Some complaints may be legitimate. Toilets don’t work. A/C fails. But they’re isolated. Don’t read these and think the whole ship needs to be fixed. In most, if not all cases, those issues have been corrected and new ones have cropped up. And guess what - the same things can and do happen on every ship on every line on every cruise. Equally isolated. You stand a very good chance of an excellent, issue-free cruise on all of them. Enjoy your cruise whatever you decide.
  24. There is an element of gambling involved. Some of us have secured excellent upgrades. Some find themselves over a nightclub or under the pool deck. If you want something specific and it’s available, book it. Fully booked doesn’t mean there aren’t rooms available. There can be cancellations, and there is a maximum headcount that can be reached before all cabins are sold due to full utilization of 3 and 4 passenger cabins. Just like hotels, upgrade is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes you will ask yourself “how is this better or worth more?” But going from an ocean view to a balcony, the difference is apparent.
