  1. Question about a group. From the info I have, a group is 5 or more cabins. I have 3 cabins for my sailing, but I have another 3 cabins that *might* come and have a total of 6. Does anyone know if I go into my Roll Call, find others that have booked directly with NCL, and then group us all together? Would that work? Group benefits are nice 🙂
  2. See, the person above said it could be a promo, you think it could be an IT thing. I just wish I could know for sure. Be great if I could know for sure. I would hate to tell others in the group, "Do this and this and boom, save lots of money" and then they buy double the certs and the system doesn't allow it. 😞
  3. That would be freaking awesome if that is the case....Do you know where I would find out if true and if so, how long this would be allowed? Like I said, I'm trying to organize a group and one of the families involved have 5 people so they need two cabins. If we could turn $250 x 2 = $500 savings for 2 cabins into $250 x 4 into $1,000 in savings, that would be phenomenal.
  4. I know this has been discussed multiple times and I know the T&C state you can only use one certificate at a time. Sorry to ask, however, the booking website shows something else. I'm looking for clarification from the group. When I go to check out, top left of image shows 2 voucher max, so I click on two. The bottom right shows - $500 twice. Will I be able to get away with this? And yes, I'm only booking 1 room with two people. Right now I'm planning to have a group or 5 or 6 rooms and if this will actually allow this, we could save some good money.
  5. The other thing to mention is the deck placement. From what I have seen, 9th deck and below has shower/tub combos while 10th deck and above has just a shower. So the tub would obviously have a higher barrier to step into to take a shower while the shower floor only has a 2" or 3" to get into the shower. I also believe the shower only has more jets. Best to look at videos for your ship online with reviews.
  6. I actually did. I was about ready to book a room except when the price was supposed to pop up a one number it popped up completely different number and they didn't understand why and I didn't understand why either. Then today I just had my side comparison and this is what I found. What do you think? Am I wrong? Or just kind of weird?
  7. PS. Ideally we would love to be the cabin next door to each other but I realize that one is blue other than the next is red and the alternate so I realize that if I want the red cabins I can't have a sharing wall which I'm fine with but where I go online it won't let me pick two red cabins even though they're both three I couldn't see. I agree sleeping arrangement shouldn't matter but for some reason it does
  8. So to begin, please excuse if this has been asked before, but I could not find the information and I am new to NCL. I've done two cruises on carnival and two cruises on MSC. So I'm looking to book a cruise on the encore next year and we are trying to book two rooms. One room we have two adults and one child so obviously three people, and room number two we have one adult and two children, the same occupancy, 3. Then I go set up a second room and it forces me to jump up a category. it is now forcing me into a plus sign room which on their legend indicates a four-person capacity room with the + sign The first cabin shows that I can have my choice between MA and M4, but the second cabin I only get the M4 choice. It appears that they don't charge by occupancy, appears that they charge by bed. It seems like the first cabin they assume two adults in the big bed plus a sofa bed but in the second room it appears that they are putting one adult in the big bed and then one sofa bed and one Pullman bed Is there a way to do a search so that either a child can sleep with the parent because he's a toddler and they can share a bed or they can split the bed and have a sofa bed and the split bed to make three? I don't really understand if it's the same occupancy why I don't have access to the exact same rooms?
  9. My little boy is a water baby. He loves the water parks. He is 5 years old, but most of the water slides are too big for him. A lot of them have height restrictiones and he is about 2" too short for the big ones. Planning my first trip on NCL and I'm coming over from MSC Seascape that basically had a Great Wolfe lodge with toddler sized 2' pool, smaller watersides, spray guns, the giant bucket, ect. Best I could see was the Breakaway class and specifically the Encore. Any other recommendations that might have anything better or similar on NCL ships? Also, difference between balcony suite vs family suite. I've service though cc and best I could find is family is closer to family activities. However on the Encore I was seeing every other room was a family and then next was just a club. I was looking at 14th deck and for instance 14200 and 14202. One is listed as family, one is just a club. If the reason why it was family was closer to the action, well in this section of the ship, every other room is one thing and then the other so it isn't a location based thing. To compare water parks, here is a link to what MSC has. msc seascape pirates cove - Yahoo Image Search Results
  10. Don't forget that they don't just match other cruise lines. They match hotel, airlines, ect. They matched my Gold status with Marriot. That bumped me up to the second level and I earn points at a faster place. I'm doing my second MSC this weekend and I will be Gold status with them on cruise #3.
  11. Funny for me, I'm planning to buy these tonight for my cruise next weekend. Not those exact ones, but close 🙂
  12. Can anyone recommend a private driver company or a tour to a coffee plantation? Going to the island famed for coffee and I can't live with myself unless I go.
  13. Depends on what you mean by coffee. Drip, espresso and cappuccinos are included, but as far as I know, could be wrong, Starbucks style are not... But could be wrong
  14. Did you use the paper luggage tags you print from home? Those things get ripped off so easily. If so, did you also print off extras and place extra tags in your luggage?? If the paper ones get ripped off, they can look inside your luggage as a back up Also, if your luggage got left at the dock, that isn't the cruise lines issue. Those are dock workers that work for the port. Makes sure you tip them well. You don't want a disgruntled dock person 'accidently' forgetting to add it to the pallet they load on the ship
  15. I appreciate the thought, but he is in a full sized car seat. I don't know if he's big enough for a booster.
  16. I'm going on a Jamacia, Grand Cayman, Cozumel trip here soon with a 3.75 year old. Anyone know what the rules / laws are in these places? Carrying around a backpack is one thing but carrying around a car seat and find a place to store it during the event so it doesn't get misplaced / stolen just sounds really annoying. I know some places have lockers, but not all places would have lockers of that size. Thoughts? Ideas?
  17. I'm looking for kid friendly, specifically 4 years old, excursions. The different beach trips are great because he loves the water but a beach is a beach at the beach for a kid. Plus with a stop off at Ocean Cay, he will get beach time there. Some of things we're looking to do is something where he might be interested in animals. Thinking about stingray city in the Grand Caymans, but not sure about the setup for that. If we jump into the water, and the water is too deep for him, will he still be able to enjoy it? Can we jump into the water and then he sits in the boat and watches us play with a stingrays? Can he float in his life vest and get to play with a stingrays? Or does the contractor just dump you off on a sandbar and they come back to pick you up? Just looking for ideas throughout the three different locations where he can see and interact with stingrays, turtles, fish, he loves fish, exotic birds, etc. Couple years ago we introduced him to a dolphin and he liked to watch them but when one jumped up on a mat for us to pet it he freaked out. Cruise is in 6 weeks so just trying to figure out what to do
  18. I walked on a few years ago. It was across the street from the Dolphins. I finished up and just walked over and didn't pay or anything. Thought it was cool, but nothing earth shattering.
  19. I would hang onto receipts and complain once you get home and then if you get no satisfaction, refuse the appropriate amount to credit card company. If you have the print out saying one thing, the receipts showing you paid for something you shouldn't have, you have the summary from the last day of the cruise to show you weren't credited and it matches up with the receipts, you should be able to dispute the charges. If MSC won't take care of you, you can dispute it.
  20. Anyone know of where to see updates, if any, for their new terminal in Miami? Last I saw it was going to be completed 12/2023. Of course my cruise is first week of 11/2023. My first cruise with MSC I walked 10 miles it felt like in the terminal, but it was pretty easy. Part of me is worried the terminal I will get to use will be on its last legs and be a major mess. Or maybe I will get lucky and the new one will be going through a soft opening because it is done a little early and will be a mess due to that.
  21. I wonder if that B designation would be on the new Seascape too. That cabin # doesn't show as a B on the Seascape. I have an upcoming cruise with a 3 year old and he loves to play in the bath
  22. My last cruise was 11/2021. I booked that 12/2020. At the time, they said discounts between 10% and 50% based on availability. So, first 5 people that booked got the 50%, then the next got 40 so on and so forth. I can't remember which one I got. I do find it annoying that at that time, they wanted you to book, then deal with the HealthCare people to find out which one you qualified for. I could have booked it once, back then it was wait for a week to see which discount you got. If they only had 10% available for that sailing, you could then cancel, book for the next week, and go through the process again. The basic phone reps said they had no clue what sailing qualified for what discounts. You could have gone back and forth for 10 sailings, go back to the first and whatever you were originally offered could then be gone. Basically, I agree with you. They should have that info on the front end so you can figure out which one you want to go do. My next one I had a window of 10/2023 - 12/2023 I could take a cruise. I got lucky in that my sailing qualified, you got screwed. If I was told no, I could have just switched to a different date. The ONLY thing I can give them a pass on is you don't want phone reps telling people they qualify for xxx 'based on approval of documents' and then you have people that are lazy, don't turn in their paperwork for 6 months and now that discount is gone and people are upset....BUT YOU TOLD ME DISCOUNT WAS AVAILABLE!!! Solution is, hey, looks like there are only 5 spots left for that sailing so we can book you for it, just depends on how fast you get your docs approved and how many people are already in the pipeline ahead of you. I'd rather have an honest answer upfront. If I book it, get told it may/may not qualify because the number of slots is dwindling, I can either take my chances on that one, or book a different one with a likely higher rate of successful discount.
  23. this is so weird to me. I booked the cruise, then I emailed them and asked them what they wanted. I work as a Pharmacy Tech for an insurance company working on back-end paperwork. They wanted badges to prove company and position and federal/state licensing. Since my job is now a work at home job (home office is in San Diego and I'm in Portland, OR) I have no use or desire for a company ID badge. I sent them copies of my federal and state info plus a pdf of a paycheck with company name on it and it was processed in 24 hours. I did only get 8% vs 10% so that is a little weird, but hell, whatever.
  24. I agree with others. I have been off/on the board for 2 years and that is what I have seen in multiple cases. They upgraded your room, but not your 'experience.' You can always try and get the free room service breakfast the first day and see what happens. As far as being upgraded to a YC, they have their own contained section of the ship so I'm willing to bet they just treat everyone the same because it is just easier that way versus keeping track of the 2 or 3 commoners. With the rest of the ship, they are used to dividing up B/F/A.
