1. I just booked Diamond Princess southbound from Whittier to Vancouver departing June 27, 2009 for $742.05 single supplement inside cabin, including gov. taxes and $54 transfer from Anchorage to Whittier. That is a good price for Alaska single supplement. If you want it get it quick. My TA said that they were not wanting to hold a cabin for me without $ so I think it will not last long.

    Good one.:)

  2. I posted this before and guess I should have posted it here. I'm taking my Mom for Mother's Day on the Conquest and was just assigined 8B 7426..... Any thoughts? Anyone stayed near or in this stateroom? My Mom is very excited and I want this to be a great trip for her. Thanks!

It's fine. Same as most balconies. You'll enjoy it.

  3. Hi there Conquest Experts! We're thinking about trying the Conquest next year at Spring Break. We've cruised out of Galveston at Spring Break on both the Grand Princess and the Voyager, and we liked both ships. Have any of you been on the Conquest and also one or both of those other ships? If so, could you compare them for me?

    Thanks for your help!

    hey Cindy

Yes I've been on all three during spring break. Seven times overall on the Conquest. I have several reviews on my blog.

  4.
I have a conquest question. This may have been answered and if so please forgive me, 158 pages is a lot of reading. Why are Texans only allowed to bring one bottle of alcohol back to shore (2 I think if one is purchased and made in Jamaica) and also what is the general consensus on best time to board and not wait long in line. Can anybody provide a link on the official rule about bringing back alcohol as it pertains to residents of Texas.
5.
The multiple reports about CNN being blared on the big screen on the Lido are starting to worry me. I hope with the ear buds of my iPod fully inside my ears at full blast, I can drown it out with some actual cruise music.
That doesn't sound good, I don't want news on my cruise!
  6. I have a Conquest Only question, since I'm only going on the Conquest...

Do the beds in Cat 12 make into twins?!?

Friend and I are celebrating her birthday, but I don't want to sleep that close to her!!

Or...does the couch make into a bed that an adult could sleep on?

    hey Stir

Yes they did split, I assume it will be same after dry dock.

  7. Just recently got our cabin assignment for our 2-15-09 sailing on the Conquest. We got a nice upgrade to cabin 1110 on the Spa Deck. Anyone have any information on the cabin or the location in general?

    Thanks!

Those cabins will be completely redesigned in the January dry dock. They will be very premium. That's quite an upgrade.

  8. Your Cruise Director, Ralph Valente has invented a Cruise Critic Secret Sign!

He did it at our 12/14 Conquest Sailing Meet and Greet! It was a way that we could identify ourselves, both to each other, and to him.

    Here's how it goes:

Make a C with your left hand. Make a mirror image C (backwards) with your right hand. Hold them up in front of you about 4 inches apart. Just a quick "CC Flash" for a couple of seconds. (kinda like you're taking a picture with an invisible camera...)

Ralph would flash this secret sign before the shows, and if one of our CC group responded, he would escort them to front row seats. If you said hi to him, he was friendly, but if you flashed the CC secret sign, he was really friendly! (I guess that's because we got him 90 Spicy BBQ wings in Grand Cayman!)

You would probably really freak him out if you flashed him the secret sign early on in the cruise!

Try to get Host Mach involved, he will arrange for Ralph to come to any meet and greet that you set up. In ours, he brought a comedian, and had trivia games for trinkets (coozies, drink coupons, head massage, etc). We had like 65 attending, and it was a lot of fun.

    Gayle Snedecor

He's a keeper as a cruise director. Hope he's on the Conquest for a long time.
