  1. Well that answers 1 question out of 3. At least we won't be charged if we dump all their stuff and put our own in there. I was a little worried about that.

My other half and I have this thing about room service for breakfast. I guess we can always rig it by raiding the buffet and bringing it back to the room. Buffet isn't my favorite dining venue, though.

So no one wants to hear me play my trumpet, huh? That's too bad because I'm really, really good. Not America's Got Talent good, maybe, but...well...

Carnival is one of the last cruise lines to offer a 'hot' room service breakfast if that's what you want. Just place your order on the furnished order forms on your door the night before and you'll have your breakfast the next mroning.

If you check the Carnival FAQ's you'll find the answer to your trumpet.

  2. I look forward to seeing Jamaica. Why would you want it dropped?

I know you didn't ask me' date=' but I'll give you a comment by a Jamaican which sums it up for me. My friend complemented a taxi driver (a very nice lady) on the beauty her island and her comment was, "Yes it would be a nice place to live if it was not for the [b']crime[/b], drugs, and poverty". Her comments, not mine.

There was a lot of discussion on these boards about a year ago after a ships tour was robbed at gun point. You might want to search those.

  3. I submitted the following suggested itineraries to Carnival for the Conquest. Let me know what you think. Would it be practical or feasible to go from Galveston to:

    • Grand Cayman - Roatan, Honduras - Belize City or
    • Key West - Ocho Rios - Grand Cayman or
    • Roatan, Honduras - Belize City - Cozumel/Cancun

    James

GC-Roatan-Belize: Don't think is possible, you'd need two sea days to return from Belize or GC.

KW-JAMA-GC: Doable with Montego Bay, maybe not Ocho.

Roatan-Belize-Coz: Probably best choice of three. The Elation did one very similar from Galveston for a short while and NCL did this route from Houston for two years.

  4. Can anyone give info on cabin 8450-Aft Balcony? We've done aft balcony on Celebrity (HUGE balcony). I know it's not that big, but any feedback regarding location, personal experience, would be great!

Yes, I've had 8457 (mirror image) twice on the Conquest and good friends who take 8450 when we're in 8457. Great balcony. Not as large as RCL's or X corners, but similar. One of the larger balconies on the Conquest for sure. Has a good combination of shade and sun.

  5. Does anyone know how many bottles of liquor we can legally bring back from the cruise? When you walk over the border bridge and then return from Mexico, you can only bring 1 liter bottle per adult. But, I've heard that coming back from this cruise we'll be allowed to bring 2 bottles per adult. Is that right?

It is the same rule. It's one.

  6.  I am booked on the conquest 5/11/08 just afew days away . I understood from carnival that if you purchase liquor in the store on the ship that they will keep it for you till the end of the cruise.

A friend of mine stayed in a penthouse suite (we are booked in one) and he went to the duty free gift shop ....bought several bottles of liquor and cigs and they delivered it to his room right away.

Anyone have any idea if this really happens or how to make it happen?

You friend probably bought it on last sea day. SOMETIMES, they will let you take it then. I've never know them to deliver to a cabin unless you order from room service. Are you sure it was purchased at the duty free shop? Very unlikely.

  7. I would like to kindly request that no one include anything political in their messages, avatars, etc. 2008 is going to be tough enough to stomach in our country without having to come to a cruising board to see "Hillary" or any other political pictures in people's profiles. :(

I would like to kindly request that gentlemen please allow ladies off the elevator first.........oh, and world peace.:)

  8. I've been assigned 4G-1052, looks like the Panorama deck, 1st room near the stairs. Good or bad ... what do you know about this room/area?! There's also two dots on the room, which says "two uppers" - is that the two beds that come out of the wall?!?! :D

    Best location for an interior-IMHO

Yes, you'll have two beds on the floor and two uppers if needed.

  9. I know this has been asked before, but I was informed the rule had changed. Can you still bring a case of diet coke on board per person, if it is still in the original package?

I always take a 6-pack of 20oz plastic bottles. The guideline I believe is a reasonable amount. IMHO a case would probably make it, but several (or per person) may draw attention. Good luck.

BTW-I'm located west of West, Texas, but not west Texas.

  10. I am sorry that I offended you and anyone else on the Board. My post was meant to be more lighthearted rather than matter-of-fact. As compared with other ports of call on the Conquest, Galveston wouldn't be my first choice, but if others feel differently so be it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I'm sorry if mine offended you.

I didn't see an edit feature - probably missed it - otherwise I would have removed this comment.

Welcome to Cruise Critic. Thanks for your comments. I recommend you use the smilies if you wish to show your 'lighthearted' feelings, it sure read matter-of-fact.

There are a lot of nice people who consider Galveston their 'home port' that can be a source of very good information on these boards about sailings from Texas.

If you have time to explore Galveston, I recommend that as well. Start here: http://www.galveston.com/visitorinformation/

  11. I noticed the Valor is going in for some major upgrades. I was wondering if anyone (Mach can you help) knew if and when the Conquest was going in drydock for some upgrades? I heard that it was in 2008. If so what upgrades would she be getting?

    Nothing scheduled for 2008

I was just on her in September and it is a limit game 3/6. There also must be at least 3 players at any one time in order to play.

    It's a NO limit game.
