  1. You set the bar high Greg. I really admire the loyalty and consideration you show towards your co-workers/teammates despite the inconvenience it brings to you. Hats off to you for being such a gentleman.🍻 dp
  2. Nice. I'm just getting into some of the newer features myself. Here is an old picture of my grandfather when he was a kid. I restored this about 10 years ago, but just played with the neural colorizing feature to come up with a color version. Original Restored Colorizing filter (Default Settings) Getting rid of all the folds and defects in the original would be a MUCH quicker process now than it was 10 years ago. dp
  3. At the cabin, you may find CC to be a bit slower that usual 😉 Seriously, that sounds like a great escape. Have fun and I wish you all great weather for your stay. dp
  4. I'm not sure if you are into libraries or not, but Halifax, considering the size of the city, has a SPECTACULAR library worth visiting. It is walk-able from the port, but as in many port cities... it is uphill all the way there 😉 The Toothy moose is more of a night club anyway. From Sydney, the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic site is only about an hour away. Louisbourg Fortress is only 30 minutes but in the opposite direction and not towards the Cabot Trail. My wife was the first to mention wanting to visit a library when we were in Helsinki. The Oodi Central Library has set the benchmark for libraries, and now, it is me that drags my wife to visit worthy libraries wherever we travel. They should not even call them libraries anymore, they remain a learning environment, but not only books anymore. dp
  5. Thanks for the extra info. The River House view seems spectacular. The Thirsty Moose is appealing since it is only a few steps from the Music Hall, and because it has lots of beer 😉 In Halifax NS, they have the Toothy Moose dp
  6. We're back. It was a 3 and a half hour sitting but we got through it all. Amazing. Here is the card with all the courses (Left) and the wine pairings (right) for the Chef's Tasting. Sorry, No food pics 😞 I made up some serious brownie points for this one 😉 dp
  7. Thanks both of you. There are several nice and unique places in Portsmouth. Contrary to most that go to Portsmouth, Seafood is not a big priority as we get lots from where we live on the East Coast. But That Martingale Wharf seems really nice. The Black Birch was recommended in several places and is particularly unique. That is definitely on the Short list. Tonight/soon, I'm taking my wife to the Black Rabbit for her Birthday. This is one of our most unique/fine restaurants in our tiny city. They have a particularly extensive Chef's Tasting Menu that we both plan try tonight. Read you all later! Thanks again for the info for Portsmouth. dp
  8. During the first week of August, my DW and I are headed for a 7 to 8hr drive to Portsmouth NH to go see Ryan Adams and the Cardinals at the Portsmouth Music Hall. We will be spending 2 days in the area. Anyone have recommendations for places to eat? or drink? Bonus if the place is good at both 😉 dp
  9. No criticism from me on this. I also agree 100% with your statement. Maybe except for the Hallmark Xmas movie part 😉. But hey, cheers to your self proclaimed weirdness 😁🥃 dp
  10. That is disappointing news Greg. I believe that once the initial blow of this news wears off a bit, your tenacity will carry you forward, and we will all be here to listen to all the ranting you wish to dish out. Anyone that gets the privilege to cruise with you will be happy to rant about knees and glorify drinks and cocktails. I know I'm looking forward to it. Keep us posted. Dennis
  11. For the caterpillars, They can have all the Carrot leaves they want. It does not harm the carrots anyway 😉 As for completing your PhD, I wish to congratulate you. As a first hand witness to how much work and involvement it is, I truly admire the monumental persistence it requires. I always thought I had an idea of how much work it was, until she started. My DW is also not required to do it for her job but it will add credibility to the works on education leadership and education environment that she loves to work on. She is doing this while working. Also, she just found out she will be teaching a Masters course at the University starting this fall. So that is why I have so much time I can spend on CC 😉 I do not have the same level of academic education as her, but luckily... I love debating 🙂 And, in the future, if she gets any busier going to all those conferences around the world, and she needs an assistant to help her with her travels... well so be it. I'll just have to help out I guess 😁. dp
  12. Very Nice. I'm going to have to check out that Merlin App. Thank you. I hope to be able to somewhat follow your same path when I retire. My youngest just finished her first year at university. My DW is back at university completing her PhD, so if all goes according to plan (My plan), I'll be able to retire early and DW will be able to support me 😉 Here is a pic that I took in our parsley a few summers ago. We get them almost every year in our carrot leaves or our parsley. They become Swallowtail Butterfly. We are friends with a local biologist that takes them from us and he then uses them for classroom projects. Some have been 3 inches long and the size of my small finger. dp
  13. Done. 16 half pint jars Rhubarb syrup concentrate that have been waterbath processed + 1 Rhubarb Simple Syrup. And for "Quality control" Since it is Sunday, I opted for a Rhubarb Gin ? Tonic rather than a Martini 😉 dp
  14. Well, That didn't last as long as planned. During the first show that I started watching, the sun peaked out and then I was feeling guilty about doing nothing. I know I shouldn't but... that's just the way it is. I had recently seen a few cocktail recipes that uses rhubarb. Either concentrated rhubarb punch or rhubarb simple syrup. So I decided to try an experiment. Looked up a few internet sites to find inspiration and a general guideline. I'm basing off of a Ball canning recipe. Went to my rhubarb patch and picked what I though I needed. Recipe calls for 12 cups of chopped rhubarb but I wish to double the recipe. the photo below is after I picked what I needed. Dug out my chopper Ended up with 26 cups of chopped rhubarb After boiling for 10 or 15 minutes, the mash is now straining for the next few hours. The liquid coming out underneath is a beautiful pink. I'll post later with the results after canning and maybe a rhubarb martini... you know just to sample and for quality control 😉 dp
  15. Very similar day indeed. That Toyota/Lexus Pearl White is a magnet for iron spots 😕. I don't know about you, but my "Wax ON/Wax OFF" muscles aren't what they used to be 😉 "Traded in"? Care to spill the beans? I used to have a Wrangler that spent most of the summers naked. (No top, no doors). I don't miss the jeep, but we do miss riding around on a nice day in the National and Provincial parks. That was replaced by my current and much more reasonable Rav4 Prime. Now that my wife has a company car for her long drives and winter driving, we are considering trading in her TLX for a Standard shift, MX-5 RF. It's not much of a long distance or winter driving car, but as a summer fun ride...😁 Keeping our eyes open. dp
  16. Reaaaalllly feeling it today... Yesterday was a beautiful 30°C sunny day. I detailed my car. It took about 7 hours. Luckily I was in the garage in the shade. I did my wife's car last weekend but her car is a dark gray sedan. Mine is a "Pearl White" SUV . It is my first white car and it is so much more work to detail. After all that work we had a great rib steak supper on the charcoal grill and several drinks... you know... to re-hydrate from all that work. Also to numb the pain 😉 Today is overcast, windy and drizzly. So mostly going to catch up on my streaming services. "Netflix & chill" but the actual literal meaning of "Chill" not what the kids call it 😉 And also spend time catching up on CC 😁 ☕ dp
  17. According to many different weather models from several sources... Looks like your pool will become very useful this summer dp
  18. Our next cruise, we booked through a TA. I can't say that they are Our Usual TA since this was the first time... In the past, I've always booked myself. But after doing a mock booking for a specific cruise through RC website and also through big box store travel services, this TA had much better pricing, refundable deposits, and OBC. I only had a few reasons to contact so far but the response time was very very quick. They must not be spending much time at the Beach...So I'm most likely going to stick with them for future bookings. 😉 dp
  19. I keep seeing this... But that is not as aerodynamic 😉 dp
  20. Yep. Luongo was in Bathurst NB During his Major/Junior years. It was LOOOUUUUUU even back then. And Thank for sharing your Vegas and Mr Stanley Experience. dp
  21. @A&L_Ont Andrew, I am happy for all of you, to find out this morning that your strategy worked out. Great planning on your part for seizing this opportunity of a lifetime. Owen (And Lisa and yourself) will have lived an experience that very few will ever get a chance. I, on the other hand, got up and went to bed it was still 0-0 😉 . Looking forward to your pics and write-ups of your experience . Safe travels back home. dp
