  1. Thanks for the tip. I do actually have a Costco nearby but sadly, here in New-Brunswick, Spirits are only sold in crown corporation retail outlets. The one advantage is that because of their bulk purchasing power, they have access to some bottles that are sold on a limited supply. Example: because ANBL purchases 100 cases of cheap X bourbon, they are allowed to purchase a few cases of very rare limited supply Y Bourbon. Same reason places like Total Wine have access to some very exclusive stuff.
  2. I just had to read the door sign to this room and a knew I would find you in here 😉 I suppose I'll just have me a bit of Yellow Spot (on a Monday) in honor of all Y'all and pull up a chair. dp
  3. I'm not sure, but I don't think "Points" is the deciding factor in whether parent decide to take their children along on a cruise or not. Perhaps for some, but it never was a consideration for us to bring our kids or not. "Points" are barely a deciding factor for us. Ship, Itinerary, price are much higher on the deciding factors. dp
  4. One artist that I like very much, Molly Tuttle made this "Very Trippy" version recently. A bit like dining in Wonderland 😉 dp
  5. The TZ bridge is 183 ft wide, and the widest 737 (737-MAX) has a 117ft wing span. That fits and would be amazing to see it land on the bridge. Unfortunately, the A380 is significantly larger and has a wing span of 261ft. (Some clipping will occur, DO NOT ATTEMPT) Sorry, couldn't help myself. 😁 dp
  6. Nice pics. The folks onboard are currently docked near me in Saint John this morning. The temps this morning were chilly right at the freezing point and we had frost on the ground. But temps are warming up and looking good for this afternoon. Have a great port day folks. dp
  7. I've had "Smuggler's Cove" here since 1994 and I still can't bring myself to finish it... OH.. I see your were talking about the book... NVM 😉 On a Better tasting note,,, when I arrived from Québec City yesterday evening, I had a package waiting for me. Inspired by @Sea Dog, I gave this a try. Thanks Greg! dp 20230521_185624.mp4
  8. Hey Greg @Sea Dog Happy Birthday!!! Here is a great looking drink... Just for you. Cheers! Maybe you know someone that can make that for you 😉 I'm sending that because I'm jealous. dp
  9. I'm liking your dilemma. I like bottle shopping as well. The local liquor store has a few bottle of Yellow Spot that's calling me. But I picked up a bottle of Red Breast Lustau about a month ago and a Bowmore 15 2 weeks ago. I'm running out of room in my liquor cabinet. I already have a bottle of Chambord. I picked that up shortly after having the chance to visit the Château Chambord 5 or 6 years ago. dp
  10. That seemed very nice. I'm sharing a link to a hilarious YouTube video from the "letters Live at Royal Albert Hall" series. This is a real letter, sent to the Empress Hotel in Victoria BC, Canada. The letter is read by Benedict Cumberbatch. Your mention of High Tea reminded me of this so I went off to find it and thought you might enjoy it. @Tree_skier may have already heard of this... dp
  11. I was always particularly fond of "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey “To me, boxing is like a ballet, except there’s no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit each other.” “Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than to be selfish and worry about my liver.” “I hope if dogs ever take over the world, and they chose a king, they don’t just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.” dp
  12. Absolutely stunning picture. Very minor alignment correction and this would be worthy of a National Geographic cover. You have a great eye for capturing the spirit of the location. dp
  13. In all fairness, I assume my time zone is ahead of yours 😉. So if this was golf, and we applied our handicaps, you would have "won" 😉 Cheers Plus... I can't spell right!!! Fourth, Fourth, Fourth, Fourth...😐 dp
  14. The fastest way I know to do pulled pork from scratch is with an Instant Pot. I've done that as well and is also good. Takes just over an hour from opening the package of pork, to spreading it on the bun. https://www.ricardocuisine.com/en/recipes/8324-pressure-cooker-barbecue-pulled-pork dp
  15. I get that. I also enjoy long slow grilling. Charcoal Snake for a 10-12hr cook Thor's Hammer, Pre-cook Thor's Hammer, Post cook but using the juices to make up a sauce. dp
  16. Just to add more food porn. I like this thread just for all the food we see on it. Beef ribs were on special at a local Meat Market. I picked up 3 slabs since I had some time on Saturday to do them up. I cut them in section and cover with 2 different dry rubs (1 Coffee/Cocoa, 1 Buttery/Garlic) Then vacuum sealed for Sous-vide Then, in the immersion for 8hrs at 57.5°C. After this they go in the freezer and can be prepared in very little time at a later date. This is what they look like after the grilling (Pic from a previous cook) dp
  17. OB, try VLC on your phone to play .mov files. it's free. If VLC does not play a file, it's not meant to be played 😉 dp
  18. I have to agree with you. Although, in 2017, During march break, Anthem had Dogfish 90 IPA at the "English" pub. It only took us (We were a few families) 2 days to clean out their stock, but yummy!!! Other than that occasion, Red Hook and Goose Island were the most seen IPAs onboard. dp
