We’re not cruising now until May next year.

One aspect that is a concern to me and should be to all Canadians is the Travel Advisory still in place to avoid cruising.  This can impact most people’s insurance, etc.

Nevertheless, some Canadians are going.  They are prepared to mask, get the covid test, etc.  They are willing to deal with the roadblocks to cruise.

It’s each person’s choice.  We chose to wait.

If we wait for the Canadian government to reduce the travel advisory to the states we might just wait for ever. Funny how out government à letting US citizens fully vaccinated to come visit us but at same time he’s saying not to go. I’m fully vaccinated and willing to take the risk and will wear my mask when possible.
The only thing bugging me like u said is because our gouvernement has issue that travel advisory this might void our COVID Insurance.

For me the aesthetics of wherever I'm staying matter greatly. I know two of my least favorite cruises were on ships that were just so visually unpleasant that yes, it detracted from my enjoyment. One was on the Carnival Splendor where the design motif consists of giant pink circles literally EVERYWHERE.

The other cruise was on the  Star Princess before it's most recent drydock. The interiors were dark, worn, and it was such a depressing place to be. Our junior suite had a sagging couch and furniture that was all banged up.

I'm not a snob when it comes to my vacations ( I'm scheduled on 3 Carnival cruises, 1 new ship and 2 B2B on an old ship) and in Europe I generally stay in 3* hotels but splurge when it comes to Resort type vacations. Plan and simple is fine too, but when things are old, worn and past its prime it doesn't put me in the Vacation frame of mind.

On the Edge I'll just walk around the ship and admire the beautiful Interior designs and appreciate the unique artwork. I remember my first Celebrity cruise on the Millenium in its first year of sailing and was just awestruck at that backlighted Central staircase surrounded by those billowing sheer curtains; simply stunning!

Like I mentioned on YouTube after watching the Beyond revealing this cruise line has one of the best fleet to attract myself. The make a fantastic job with the refurbishment of the older ships the Edge ship are beautiful and the beyond seems to be one step further up.

I think they are doing a fantastic job.

But will Canada relax travel restrictions with the US? My friends in Montreal say Canada is in no hurry to left the travel restrictions.

Nope your correct we are in no shape to relax any of the traveling as the vaccine rollout has been terrible this side of the boarder.  If you guys start opening stuff and travel again trust me our Canadian Government will be in trouble for the next elections.

We are very disappointed on how things got handle in Canada.

  4. in the meantime aren't we all  just wanting to board a ship and enjoy ever moment.

I always get so excited on cruise day and boarding the ship but next time it will be even bigger as

this Covid thing got us miss the people we love and things we love to do.

I'm glad to see so many supportive posts here.  I'm embarrassed to admit that once upon a time I wouldn't have been so supportive of a gay couple, but times have changed and thankfully I've come to realize that my views were wrong........ dance away!!!!!!

    Amazing like this honest post.

On my very first Alaska cruise - years ago - two gay guys got up in the ocean bar and slow danced.  One idiot who'd had too much to drink made a derogatory comment, and was quickly shamed out of the bar by the rest of us.  That was a very long time ago, and attitudes have changed since.

Like I mentioned before being on vacation means not worrying about anything so if this situation would happen to us ....I would not want to get into any arguments that might make this trip less enjoyable so because of that we usually will withstand of doing a slow dance. Don’t worry though we do dance like crazy to other stuff.

The only time we might try to slow dance one day is if we are with a group or friends and family that would make it easier for us but then again I don’t want them to have to shame the people that would make derogatory comments.

Anyhow I think it’s a personal matter and once we do feel comfortable we will for sure do it and will enjoy it like the rest of the world does.

kudos to the gay couples that do it you have all my admiration 🙂

Years and years ago on the now gone MS Ryndam my wife and I made friends with a gay couple.  One of the first nights on the ship we were looking for a place to sit in the Crow’s Nest and they invited us to share what were back in those days long curving sofas.   We had a great time with them and we always sat together for our pre-dinner cocktails.  The first formal night, and this was when there was always a live band in the Crow’s Nest, my wife and I got up to dance and the guys joined us on the dance floor.   About half way through the second piece one of the guys tapped me on the shoulder and I step aside to let him dance with my wife.  There was this moment when his partner and I was standing there watching them dance and I turned to him and asked him to dance.  Great times and one of many fond memories from our HAL cruises.

Wow ! That’s when you just to want that cruise to finish as in the real world it doesn’t usually happen as is.

  8. I know this may sound crazy for some but as a gay couple ...I still cant seem to be comfortable enough to have a slow dance with my partner on a cruise ship. We have never had any bad experience when saying we are a couple to people we meet but to actually slow dance yikes I personally cant yet.

Cant wait to see you all miss cruising

Well we're officially booked on the Rotterdam!  Not sure what to do with Princess yet but there's more time left on their deal. I may still book it as a plan B. But HAL is an even better deal with the additional promotions they recently added.

Although I have done most of my cruising on Princess and love them you will not be disappointed with the Rotterdam as that new class of ship for Hal definitely is better than Caribbean Princess.

They sold the Pacific Princess.  IMHO, there is no other ship in the fleet worth sailing on.

    DON

That’s too bad hope to see you on other lines that have smaller ships. I guess you will have to sail luxury lines only as the big 8 only have ships bigger that 60t.

  11. You must have a pretty good idea with all the good answers from here.  I have to concur with most for the cabin and the horrible Princess shower. We are 50 and 45 and as you can see have cruised the most with Princess but if I had to chose between the 2 Itinerary and ship mentioned above my choice would be HAL Rotterdam.

    Ships :

Caribbean Princess has been refurbish but unfortunately to my tasting they miss the mark on those refurbish as they still feel outdated.  HAL Pinnacle class is very nicely done.

    Entertainment :

During the Day Princess wins on this but at night they pretty much are similar and actually the newer ship of HAL with the music walk and a few good main shows as well.

    Dining :

Buffet pretty much the same on both.

MDR evening feels more like old cruise feeling on HAL but the food on both lines is very good.

Late night Snack : Hands down to Princess with the International Cafe.

    Ports of call :

That all depends on you but for us Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay are sore relaxing that tehy would be our choice.

To conclude right now dreaming of cruising so thanks for asking those questions it got me smiling again in hopes we all cruise soon.

    Thanks

We really missed Crooners. The French bistro on the Sky was dead every night we walked by.

Other than that, it's a beautiful ship. And having Captain Tuvo ("Captain Bye-bye") as it's master was wonderful. He is by far our favorite captain. So personable and friendly.  He photo bombed so many ship photographs... it was hilarious.

I think its back on the new Enchanted Princess 🙂

We have sailed on the Diamond (1x), Golden (2x), Island (2x), Crown (2x), Grand (2x), Star (2x), Ruby (2x),  Regal (1x), and Sky Princess (2x).

And after experience the Royal class (Regal and Sky), we are in love with that class. The World Market Buffet, Enclave Spa, and the comfortable Princess theater (with good nightlines and no columns) are our favorite features.

Having done the Regal and the Royal twice each how would you compare the Sky ?

    Thanks
