  1. We keep a whole binder with all of our documents. For us planning for a cruise is really a hobby. When it comes time to leave though, we pare down to the essentials. We like to have duplicates at home in case of emergency and to save as keepsakes after the trip is over. During the actual trip we have a thin binder we keep everything in.

  2. I have been on these boards for about 13 years and I would say rarely does someone come up with a completely new question. I certainly have been one who has asked a lot, especially in the early years. These days I don't ask much because I pretty much know what I need to about most things, but am happy to help out a newbie. We were all there one day.

Today is my day off and I will probably spend some time daydreaming about cruising and visiting the boards. Most of my days are long and I just have a few minutes to take a passing glance at the boards at bedtime.

The boards are most interesting when they are busy, so ask away, anything, and fill us in on your recent voyages and give us all your thoughts and feedback. Cruise critic is a great site and is where my dh and I fell in love with cruising.

  3. We have always done this. Prefer not to go home with a credit card bill or unexpected holds. For us we found it very convenient. They do recommend you put a certain amount on your account up front. I believe it is 200 per person for a seven day cruise, but I don't think that # is set in stone. They just want you to have money on your account before you try to spend. Also don't forget if you haven't prepaid your tips they will show up about the second day.

  4. I understand that cruisers spending their money does not help in many ways, but in some ways it does and for many of us it is the only thing we can do beside making donations here to help with the humanitarian effort. All I was trying to say was that if we do cruise to the affected islands we had best not be tight with our money. We benefit from their wonderful islands, we should also be willing to help them when needed. And yes I have given very specifically to the relief effort going on on one of the affected islands.

  5. I also think the best thing we can do for those islands is to spend lots of money. We who cruise are so blessed I believe it is a good opportunity for us to give a little back. I know some of the islands may not provide the paradise we are used to, but I am sure with the right attitude we can still have a wonderful time.

  6. On our cruise in the spring on the Glory they had for sale large insulated cups that cost in the neighborhood of $20 to $30. I know they sold them on lido where they were selling bottomless bubbles packages on embarkation day.. Anyone see them lately or buy them.? Would they fill them as part of the bottomless bubbles program?

  7. I don't have a cruise booked until next fall, but have been to San Juan, St. Thomas etc. on several occasions. I am such a planner, and we wait a year and a half to two years to save enough money to cruise, that it would drive me crazy to be so up in the air. DH and I lost a cruise to a broken arm at the midpoint of a b2b and had another cruise severely dampened by a fire aboard the Liberty,

My best advise, sit tight and remember how blessed each and every one of us to be able to take vacations like this at all. My heart is sickened to see the devastation on all of these formerly beautiful islands. Probably the best thing we can do, as cruisers, long term for these islands is to spend lots of money when we do return. The economies of these islands will need tourist dollars more than ever.

  8. DH and I have done several b2bs and surprisingly our favorite was on the Valor out of san juan. The itineraries were identical and were port intensive. What made the cruise so great were there were 3 ports we has never been to before and we had lots of time to explore each new port.

We found that cruise to be very relaxing since we were able to split up the activities we wanted to do at each port.

I will say though we were the only b2bers on that cruise so apparently many people would not agree with us.

Whatever you decide, b2bs are great and i am sure you would have a great time.
