It sucks, but it's a risk one takes when going hundreds of miles from any land. Anything and everything could change your itinerary or even what time you arrive back in port on the last day.
On my last cruise in March, the concierge said it's not back to being a regular perk (yet) but if enough people ask and the bridge agrees, they can set something up.
And with that enough people asked and it was a great tour since the captain came up to talk to us.
