  1. I was wondering how well those loft suites came through the storm. My big objection was during rough seas, I could see the bed (or me) on the second floor going right through that wall and landing on the first floor. Not sure what's worse, falling to the first floor, or having something fall on top of you.

When they first created the loft suites my first worry as well was what would happen in a storm if you were going up or down the stairs.

  2. I don't think Rccl planned to put everyone in danger. I simply think its an issue of lack of planning . They were just casual and routine about it. A lets just go and see what happens kinda of attitude. How they have handled everything since has been terrible

I'm sorry, but what? How has everything been terrible?

    • They kept giving PA updates
    • For safety they asked everyone to stick to their cabins
    • They gave everyone free everything
    • They refunded 100% (those Carnival disasters that had people not using bathrooms/no power/sleeping on the pool deck never got full refund)
    • They also gave 50% for future.
    • They gave everyone free phone & internet to make alternate arrangements
    • They let everyone stay on board overnight after coming to port.

    What more did you want?

I just don't see how a cruise ship that cost them A BILLION dollars to make, is worth losing to them for one probably not even sold out cruise to the Bahamas and back. It's not, there was weather. They thought they could skirt it, they were wrong, they apologized and everyone is back.

  3. Posters such a Katrina and bedazzled are truly in the minority in how they feel about the experience. I have not heard much "positive" response as it was in know way a "positive" experience.

I'm not sure why you'd get to decide who is in the minority and who is not.

3000 people chose to stay ON BOARD last night instead of rushing for the exits to get off. Yes, not everyone drinks but having the open bars is a huge plus for passengers as well as the internet. Just to have a beer and not have to worry about the costs and know cruise line is taking care of it, is a little thing but goes a long way.

I also don't buy the internet package, I don't go on vacation to use my email and devices all week. So not everyone purchases the added internet package, so giving that to customers to make alternate arrangements was also something I would be grateful for.

  4. It's on the blog too. Sounds great!

A Norwegian Cruise liner got some extra passengers Thursday night, when a boatload of Cuban refugees were spotted drifting aimlessly in the Caribbean.

A passenger tells TMZ the boat made a sudden stop when the makeshift, raft-like vessel was spotted. The 17 people on board said they were from Cuba and had been lost at sea since December 24.

One of the women on the raft was pregnant. The people were hoisted up onto the cruise ship and taken somewhere away from the passengers.

The ship docked in Cozumel, Mexico Friday and it appears the 17 refugees were turned over to Mexican authorities.

We've reached out to Norwegian for comment ... so far, no word back.
