Aft Balconies may be large, more private, and offer great views....but you also have to deal with the noise from Spice H2O right above you.
We were in 9316 (S6) and never had unbearable noise issues from Spice H2O. It was great the night of the fireworks - we could hear the music and watch the display from our balcony! ;)

The aft facing Haven penthouses on deck 9 are some of the best cabins on breakaway. The balconies are massive (250 square feet)
ABSOLUTELY!!!
We had 9316 on the Breakaway in September and have the same one booked on the Getaway for February 2015. ;) Here is a link to fb photos I have posted of the cabin and balcony on the Breakaway. You do not need a fb log in to see the pictures. Enjoy!

Our ortho recommended covering a cast with Glad Press N Seal Wrap in order to shower. Worked great and the cast didn't get wet.
Huh...who knew! Great tip - thanks. :D

Cruise #20, leaving on the Dream Jan 24, and we finally run into bad luck! Wife fell on the ice feeding the birds yesterday and broke the upper arm bone at the ball end, where it goes into the shoulder joint. Thank God it's not displaced, and no surgery needed, but she will be wearing an immobilizer to keep her arm pinned, and she will have to learn how to drink with her left arm. And I was counting on her carrying the luggage!:D
Hopefully Carnival has no issues with folks traveling with a broken bone - does anyone know for sure?
<3 it!!
Hope your guys have the BEST cruise...ever! ;)

Going to the new menu !!! When???
I do not believe it will be any time "soon".
They are testing them on the Glory now - with 2 other ships to follow here in January and February but neither are the Miracle. Once the testing is complete you may hear about a roll out to the rest of the fleet.

I'd prefer the aft wrap balcony over a suite on Carnival. Like a previous poster said, Norwegian is amazing for different types of suites and the amenities that come with it. People can buy FTTF now which basically leaves you with just a larger room.
It would be nice for the suite guests if Carnival threw in a few more perks. A small private bar/hot tub area, a "free" dinner at the steakhouse. etc. Of course, the price would go up then. lol
Agreed!

wow, yes...

Just curious. I know you can bring so much soda/wine person. My question is can you mix & match? Can I bring a 6 pack of soda and a 6 pack of cranberry juice to equal 12? Same goes for champagne over wine. Anyone ever tried this?
Yep...have done both!! No problems at all. Just remember - you have to carry it on it can't be in your luggage. ;)

add my wife to the mix...9 cruises, #10 booked in 2012 to sail in 2013, documents say Plat. She'll be happy to see her plat key.
?????
Did you mean booked in 13 to be taken in 14???

Carnival has never thought it was necessary to follow its own rules
Sad...but VERY true!!

My husband and I are platinum. Our daughter is not. She is sailing on the Breeze on January 26, 2014 and she is listed as platinum.
On our June 17, 2014 Alaska cruise she is listed as Gold.
Go figure.
Yikes....that makes NO sense! :o
-
Booking a suite would not have made her Platinum. The suite perk would be early boarding.
I think she "lucked out".
She and some others...it would appear! ;)

Ok, these new menus don't really look bad at all:
Now that I have seen them all - I agree!! Although there do not seem to be as many options - expecially with the desserts - there are several things listed that I would look forward to trying. Particularily the "port of call" options I think are a great addition.
The flow and service in the MDR is something that I think will come as all of the wait staff gets comfortable with the new menus.
For now....I'm going with a wait and see plan! ;)

I got salmonella at Applebees in South Phoenix last year, so thrilling proposition ;)
But that would have to do with the way the food was prepared - NOT the way it was served. So I'm not sure that that has to do with this discussion.

Call your carrier before you leave tell them what your going to do and where . They can add some light to your problemI've read many posts on here & spoke with AT&T but I'm still confused. What is the cheapest way to have access back home? Why do you need to pay for international roaming to AT&T and for wi-fi to Carnival? I'm sailing on Carnival Breeze end of March, so I need to figure this out. Can anyone shed some light on this?
They stated they have spoken with ATT - but are still confused.

Yes first 2 days and the last 2 days = COLD.
...and maybe even SNOW! :o

It looks like you have been on the Dream before... the Breeze is like the Dream, just with some minor differences. Not like the Ecstasy at all.
Excellent observation!
Yes - OP...think more about the Dream - it's a "sister ship" to the Breeze.
-
Thanks for the help. Sounds like best option is to turn off everything & go cold turkey LOL. I'll contact AT&T again and see what they say.
That will certainly work - if you can do it!
-
I am going on the Breeze for the first time this March ad I was browsing some of the Breeze reviews and noticed that the Breeze has the exact same layout as the smaller Ecstasy. Is this correct? I have been on the Ecstasy twice last year and very familiar with her. It seems like all the dining rooms, bars, shops, atrium, everything seems to be in the exact same places as on the Ecstasy except different names. Am I crazy or is this correct?
Most of Carnival ships have similar layouts - restaurant locations, etc - but as others have already said they are quite different in offerings and experiences available.

Depending on where your travel - free Wi-Fi in the ports is a real option.
Just make sure you turn the data features of phone back off - before the ship leaves port so that you don't use data on the ship which is VERY expensive.
Depending on your phone ATT - under their international travel section of their website - has instructions how to turn those options off.
We have iPhones and turn off all our data and usually communicate via text with home. For our plan the outgoing texts are .50 each and incoming are included and come off of our home plan - but yours may be different. They do offer plans for texts and international roaming calls that are prorated - just for the time that you need them. We put them on just before we leave and then take them off - about a week - after we get back. Just to give time for all of the transactions to post. We then get charged only for the days that the plans are active on our account. ;)
It is complicated to make sure you don't get a BIG - unexpected bill. Keep asking until you have all your questions answered!

Because the cell service on the ships comes from Cellular at Sea - which is not considered part of your home coverage. Thus the roaming charges!
Wi-Fi - is a service available but Carnival knows that it "valuable" to many travelers - and charges a premium for access. Which is slow and really eats up the minutes - even for the basic access

I just ate there two weeks ago, so ours has not going to any family style dinning.
It wasn't the last time I went either...but its been a while!

Clay: Thanks SO much for that input. :) It absolutely does add some design logic.
If that is the case (and I suspect you are probably right), I'll assume that it was only done that way on a select few landings, because those had the highest passenger traffic . . . and those landings absolutely do.
The other landings used the pattern carpet instead of the solid blue.
I like your suggestion of a resolve. The one I offered was to use a solid tile that somehow could 'co-exist' with the brown pattern . . . but I don't know how well tile works for a "hit" zone, as you called it.
Thanks, again! Greatly appreciated the expert feedback.
.
AGREED.....thanks Clay!!

So i am going on a cruise, February 13th, departing out of new york, coming back the 21st, this is the week that most schools have their mid winter break here on long island so i just have a few questions.
1: This is only my second time cruising, first time out of new york, so i was wondering, we are heading towards florida, but have 2 full days before getting there, so the 14th and 15th, and we are in florida the 16th will it be cold those days at sea?
2: Since the 14th is valentines day, does carnival do anything special?
3: Since this is a Valentines day cruise, but is on the break for most kids, do you think there will be any kids on the cruise?
4: Anyone been on the carnival splendor? is there a lot to do? give me reviews please
Thankyou everyone!!
1. Yes - I would expect it to be cool...if not cold. I would think it would not be comfortable to be outside, at least the first day.
2. They make it an Elegant night - if they can. Since it's a sea day - and your first full day at sea - that's probably the plan.
3. Don't know
4. We enjoyed the Splendor - the color scheme takes some getting used too. The pink, black and lime green - not to mention the "donuts" - was quite different that any other carnival ship we'd been on! But that wasn't even a point of discussion - after the first day! ;)
Hope this helps!

We are definitely "aft wrap" lovers - but there is still part of me that would love to try a cove balcony...someday! ;) :D
