Our party of 4 stayed in S309 last week on the Scandinavia cruise and the majority of the information given is absolutely correct. In addition to what has been mentioned, our mini bars were restocked daily with our choice of beverages both beer and soft drinks. We were all also given a coffee package for use at International Cafe. The suite comes with free access to the Concierge Lounge where every evening drinks and canapés are complimentary.

We were contacted about 5 weeks out by the pre cruise concierge service as already mentioned and special events were taken care of onboard which was lovely. Our Suite Experience Manager was superb taking care of us from the moment we dropped our car at CPS Parking all the way through to escorting us and our luggage with his team from the ship back to our car upon disembarking the ship.

We ate in the Estrella dining room club class on 3 occasions and on 3 nights ate at Crown Grill, Sabbatini’s and on our balcony for the balcony dinner experience, all of which were excellent.
We also had a full afternoon tea served on the balcony which was delicious and why there was no evening meal required that day😀

The whole experience was a once in a lifetime celebration for us of many major milestones and the suite is simply stunning and so comfortable and the balcony is a joy on sunny days to lounge around upon high quality furniture including a large clam shell sofa. At the rear of the suite, there is a coded door giving access to little used hot tubs and a pool on deck 17.

If your friends can afford the upgrade, then I would take it as the experience is unlike no other on Princess.

Thank you so much for this information, Elwatzero III our friends did upgrade and then the other one became available and we did too! We have spoken to the pre-cruise concierge and he was great. But he hasn’t given me contact details for the SEM yet. When will we get those? Do you remember?
    very excited. 😃

  2. Hi,

We are taking my parents on a short cruise in May for Mum’s 80th birthday. My Dad is vegetarian so I’ve been having a look at the speciality dining menus to see where we might book. There seem to be very few options for veggies.

We will be in Royal Suites so do have access to lovely Luminae, which, I know will have options, but does anyone know if there’s a separate menu in specialities for vegetarians?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. We have booked our first cruise on Regent for 2023 and are looking forward to it enormously. However, I saw a video on YouTube of the Splendor, specifically  at 8.30pm in the main area of the ship. It was deserted, everyone was apparently in bed! This is concerning us as we have booked a B2B and we’d be very disappointed if this was the norm. Can anyone reassure us?
if the worst come to the worst, we will just have to make sure our friends book too and we will party by ourselves! 😂

  4. I’m hoping someone who has stayed in one of the Sky Suites on Sky Princess can help?

Our friends have been offered an upgrade (at a cost) to one of the Sky Suites. I know that in normal suites you do not get many extra benefits apart from the bigger room. As these suites are so expensive and fancy, our friends are wondering if there are any extra unadvertised benefits included when booking these suites?

    Any info gratefully accepted. 😃

I am currently on the Silhouette and live on Anglesey. There are Eurofins testing in Caernarfon and Llanrwst. Very quick and got my results back next morning

Yey, Gingercruiser! I grew up on Anglesey and have just returned home to Northamptonshire after spending a week up there visiting my parents.
Sorry to butt in to the thread, but couldn’t resist 😂

  6. I’ve just realised that this whole conversation has probably not been much help because they have replaced all the furniture in the RS haven’t they?

We are due to be on the 27th sailing to Canaries, but it looks as though we will be cancelling due to not being allowed to disembark independently. If we had been sailing on that cruise I could have asked the butler to show me the bed unfolded. I imagine PH and RS are similar sofa beds? Who knows now it’s all

    changed? 🤷‍♀️

Have you considered one of the corner aft sky suites with a connecting concierge cabin? They would each have their own proper bed and ensuite. This may not work if your parents have mobility issues. What a lovely idea to take a cruise together! I hope you are able to find a solution that works.

That is a great idea. I will check out costs. Having never booked a cabin for single occupancy, do you have to pay double?

Our 6’ adult son has slept on many RS sofa beds and found them comfortable but he is young and fit! I have sat on them and found the sofa beds big and comfortable but lower than a standard bed so anyone with knee or hip issues could struggle getting up or down. As others have said a ‘topper’ mattress could be requested.

The second bathroom in the S class RS is only a toilet and sink...If you are talking about a suite just for your parents but with two separate sleeping areas then (as long as one has good knees!) the RS will work well.

If you are considering a suite for the four of you then upgrading to a PH would give you the second full bathroom but the sofa bed would still need good knees and whoever sleeps in the main bedroom needs to pass through the living area to leave the suite. It probably would be better for the younger couple to use the sofa bed, not just for comfort but they are more likely to be last to bed and first to rise...

Whereas some families may not want to share space for others the benefits of of one large suite (plus perks) vs two smaller rooms can make a lot of sense in terms of quality family time, shared in suite meals and price...

Thank you Chemmo. You’re right. I’m trying to find the cheapest suite option which gives my parents a bathroom and bedroom each.

The RS set up would be perfect but Dad would need to be in the sitting room as he is the earliest riser. The idea of a topper mattress is a great one.

  9. Thank you all. To clarify, my parents would need a cabin each.

we would be in a RS.

I think a RS for them to share so they both have their own room and en suite is cheaper than getting them both a sky suite for solo occupancy?

if the sofa bed is low then I think my older dad would maybe struggle to get himself up and out, which is a shame as he tends to be the earlier riser of the two and could have got up, made himself a drink and sat in the balcony, whereas if he is in the bedroom he would have to disturb my mum.

i wondered if he could use the chair as a support to help himself up. Mind you, we’ve not been onboard since the refit so there might not be a suitable hoist! 🤷‍♀️

  10. I wonder if anyone can help? We are think of taking my parents on a short cruise next year. They will either need their own cabin or, it occurred to me, a RS which has 2 bathrooms so they would effectively both have an en suite.

however, I need them both to sleep well so if anyone has slept on the sofa bed and can let me know if it’s ok, that would be marvellous.

You may be lucky, as that is the date when all restrictions in UK should be lifted.

If that is the case, then there is no reason to say you cannot get off the ship on your own.

However, the ports of call may be different!

Yes, exactly. We’re not normally excursion types, preferring to explore independently. Does anyone know which cruise lines are already sailing in Europe so I can look for reviews on the forums?

Yes, if it happens...I have an awful feeling that at final payment it will be happening and then a week or two after it will disappear and be replaced by the staycation cruises.

One bit of us would just like to board but at that time of year I am concerned about the weather...Also it is a lot of money to spend if the experience is lacking. For example, the suite deck is in a breezy spot if you are in the Caribbean, passing the Isle of Man I would think would be windy even on a calm day....

To us one of the pleasures of booking a PH is enjoying the balcony, particularly first thing in the morning and late at night. We did book the PH a few years ago for a Norwegian Cruise. Much as we loved the cruise (and the PH) we didn’t use the balcony as much as usual (and we had fabulous weather)...Lots to think about...

We are hoping some honest reviews come out in the next few weeks before we need to decide what to do...

Think we're on the same Sep 27 cruise - looking on Celebrity site the first cruise i can see that's not UK only is the Iceland cruise on Sept 4th (i thought the international ones were starting August ?? so not sure if some have already been switched ?)

So with Sept 4th being first one available when will final payment be on that one ? and if that stays on the itinerary then i guess there is a good chance that the rest will stay as international cruises ? We were booked through a TA so final payment is due in 2 days but fortunately TA has extended our final payment date for a couple more weeks as i raised concerns about will they go ahead.

Massive dilemma as desperate to get back on a cruise ship but will it be even close to what we're used to ?

We have been thinking exactly the same as both of you. I’m also worried that we won’t be able to go ashore independently or even at all and as you say Chemmo, a lot of money to pay to pootle around on the sea.
I think our final payment date is 19th July. We will try to extend it I think but may cancel if things are still up

in the air, which I’ll be gutted about. I’m desperate to get back on board, but dreading the experience being ruined by restrictions. 🤷‍♀️

S class RSs are wonderful! The only snag is there is no going back!

Special Delivery is available from Southampton and really does speed up getting on board. I don’t know if things will be different in the present circumstances but from dropping our luggage off to sipping champagne in Michael’s/Retreat was 15 minutes.

You should be contacted about two two weeks before your cruise about your bar and room set up....

Enjoy, we should be in the Silhouette  PH in September but doubtful our 11 night cruise will happen.

Are you on the Canaries cruise, @chemmo? We are booked in the other PH plus we’re on the previous cruise. We are also wondering if these will go ahead. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Did anyone watch the programme showing Regal Princess which was broadcast this morning? Definitely made me eager to cruise with Princess again!

Yes. We are sailing on her in April and September so it certainly whetted our cruising appetite! 😃

If she is anything like her sister EDGE you will be blown away.

Sorry, I misled you. We should have been on Apex April this year - the maiden voyage, but obviously it was cancelled. Gutted!  And no Edge class ships sailing from Southampton next year.

Oh well, I'm sure Edge or Apex will sail from UK soon enough.

We have a very long Princess cruise booked for September. Really looking forward to that. 🥳

Thanks for that. Have to say we have done Silhouette, Constellation and EDGE on Celebrity. We loved Silly and EDGE was just another world. We really did not warm to the Constellation at all though and would not sail on this class of ship again. Our dream cruise for 2022 would be EDGE again but it cost us a fortune....

I know, it is flipping expensive, but you can get good deals. Not that I’ve noticed any recently. The Celebrity prices have gone through the roof!

Interesting To hear your thoughts on the Millennium class ships. We’ve only sailed on Silly and Eclipse so far. We’re due on Apex in April but of course was cancelled. 😭
