1. FYI--- we got to the front of the rediciouls long tender line at Grand Cayman in July by showing our gold card.Perk or not, it saved us a good hour wait and I wouldn't consider it wrong of people who are entitled to it if I were waiting in the line. The upper C&A, suite guests, etc. jumping the line would be few and far between compared to the masses standing in line. They are not slowing it down by any measure.

    "the masses"...

  2. I'm sitting here with our mini long haired dachshund. I love him but he wouldn't go on a cruise with us even if he was allowed.

We have three doxies and they can be a... "challenging" breed at times. Our's are not particularly fond of strangers and tend to bark at everything and everyone.

Taking them on a cruise with us would be a bad idea.

  3. We are thinking perhaps we should fly into LaGuardia and perhaps out of Newark.

I'm not from the city and don't spend much time in it, but I have a lot of family who is. The assure me that, ranking the airports, JFK is the "nicest", with Newark Liberty in second place. I've been told several times (and practical experience does tend to verify it) that LaGuardia is "dirty".

  4.
I work in a doctor's office. Guess what? Rude people with poor social graces as well. People of all ages wearing inappropriate dress, "letting it all hang out". This is the new America, where the people do as they feel makes them happiest.
This morning I watched a twenty-something park her SUV in a handicapped spot and walk to the entrance of our local grocery store wearing what appeared to be pajama pants, flip-flops, and a tank top with no bra. I almost gagged.
  5.
I know that but I don't agree with it.
You may not agree with it, but it's the truth of the matter.
So if I drink at home then drive and kill someone then who do I blame? Maybe the person at the register in the liqour store. All I am saying is people need to take responsibility for their own actions drunk or not.I'm sure the alcohol wasn't forced down there neck.
You're comparing apples and oranges. There is a big difference between "drinking at home and getting yourself intoxicated", and "drinking at a licensed bar/restaurant while being served by a trained bartender, and getting intoxicated."

For example: if you decided to fix the brakes in your car, screw it up, and crash, it's your fault, right? But if you take it to a garage, they screw it up, and you crash, they are the ones who are liable. Same basic premise.

So saying "Sure, they got sloppy drunk on a Carnival cruise and fell overboard, but it's not Carnival's fault," is incorrect. It most definitely is Carnival's (or whatever cruise line, really) fault. They're the ones controlling the alcohol.
  6.
You can't fix stupid. Most overboards are being drunk. And I am not sure how that is carnivals fault. If I drive drunk and kill someone I have no one to blame but myself.
Incorrect. Businesses are most definitely held responsible if they over-serve a customer to the point of intoxication. Ask any bartender.

We just had a local bar go out of business because they over-served a customer until he was sloppy drunk, and said customer got into his car, crashed, and ended up paralyzed. The bar was held "partially liable" by a jury, forced to pay a little over a million dollars in damages, and had their liquor license revoked by the state.
  7. In December 2013 we did a five nighter out of Galveston on Carnival Triumph mostly because price was unbeatable (last minute booking) and also because RCL doesn't offer short trips there.

We had few complaints, mostly due to unnecessary loudness outside in pool area - the big screen showing loud obnoxious trash on a pleasant morning coming in to Cozumel, eventually it was turned off when the ship next door complained.

For some reason, I find this hilarious.

"Hey, you kids, turn down your darn music!"

  8. Our flight leaves late at night on disembarkation day (Rhapsody of the Seas in October) and we'd like to maximise time on board, if possible. What is the latest time we will be allowed to remain before we get thrown overboard? :D

I've asked the same question, as we don't have anyplace in particular we have to be, and we're just driving home. Apparently the maximum is about 1000-ish.

  9. Leaving from Cape Liberty on 09/19, traveling from the Allentown, PA area, whats the best route to the terminal...thanks in advance.

We're coming from the Stroudsburg region, so our route is slightly different, but a friend of mine who lives in Whitehall told me that it's a straight shot across I-78 (via US-22 and PA-33 in her case) to the port in Bayonne.

  10. The pool sat tranquil, nary a chair hog’s towel nor jogger broke the calm. Only the deck patrol staff, the mysterious sandmen of the high seas dutifully engaged in their muted ritual of untying the knotted nets from the swimming pools and hot tubs. Then as the first shafts of light illuminated the darkened deck they disappeared again into the last vestiges of murky night leaving the pools pristine for passengers who at this hour were still fast asleep in their cabins.

    Hah hah! I love it!

I feel like I should be getting college credit for reading this. ;)
