  1. I knew buying those proctored Binax test kits would do the trick!!!!!!!!
  2. Are you saying the pdf will not open? If so, let me check if I uploaded it improperly.
  3. Go up a few posts---I shared a pricelist from 2018 that will give you a rough idea.
  4. The showers do have built-in clotheslines for drying items. We have quick-dry LL Bean hiking pants that we washed in the sink and that were dry the next morning.
  5. It's from 2018, but I've attached a price list to give you a general idea of the costs. We did 2 mens shirts and my wife did a couple of blouses for a reasonable cost. viking laundry price list.pdf
  6. If left on bed in a designated bag by 9-ish AM, back prior to dinner. On hangers or folded.
  7. When we sailed Viking I found aquarium class perfectly acceptable. Of course, I could easily see out the high windows---dear wife could not. I feel like on our next cruise we will have to spring the extra $$$ for a french balcony room just so she-who-is-to-be-obeyed can see out the window (even though we spent almost NO time in the room at all...............)
  8. There is a SBB train station in the lower level of the Zurich air terminal. When you are asked for your disembarkation info, you can simply have the ship arrange for a cab to the Basel SBB station.
  9. Everything I've read about ocean cruises tells me that an ocean cruise would annoy the hell out of me. The Viking brochures have a list of items that they say they are not----everything on that list would infuriate me (photographers at dinner, paying for WIFI and every excursion, "art" lectures that are sales pitches, etc., etc.)
  10. Good to know the proctored tests went well. Thanks for the info.
  11. Thanks for the info, @loriva, LOL--those are my sentiments exactly. We have a tour next month and in September, so our plan is to order 6 kits. I know that the SECOND I click "order", my news feed will tell me that the stupid test requirement has been rescinded!!! Hassle the unvaccinated, leave the rest of us alone!!!!!
  12. When we were on the Rhine, the one time I do recall that the top deck was closed was when we passed through a lock just before dinner--the nerds among us were allowed to watch from the Aquavit terrace at the bow of the ship.
  13. Dear wife and I laugh thinking back to the Basel train station. After getting some Swiss francs so we could use the restrooms, she was surprised that her rest room cost more than mine! Men can pay less if they use a urinal as opposed to a stall. She jokes that this is some form of discrimination!!!
  14. Those who like to linger and play with their cameras often prefer the slower walker tours, as they are less likely to be left behind by their group (more lingering at each stop and slower moving).
  15. Thanks JP--just one quickie: The app is used to create the account, but you launch the test from the website, correct? That's that part that seems confusing, the button on the site that says "Start A Test"
  16. We had chateaubriand on our Viking Rhine cruise and it was the best meal we have EVER had!! It was so good it was unbelievable! The waitstaff told us to wait for the osso buco, it would be even better. It was very good, but came in a distant second to the chateaubriand.
  17. Also, they will bring you whatever you'd like---if both soup AND salad look appetizing, you may try both. Folks with very hearty appetites have reported ordering two entrees, with no problem as well.
  18. Exactly--one difference pointed out, ocean vs. river cruise, is that river cruises are more expensive than on the ocean. Though part of that increased cost is due to way fewer passengers, another is that, as you point out, there is an excursion in every port that you have paid for.
  19. When we did the optional Medieval Colmar tour, upon arriving in town, we could either tour by walking with a guide, or take a tour by tram. In our case, we all chose to walk, the the opportunity to ride was there.
  20. I have heard of people leaving the ship at 4 or 5 AM if they have an early flight.
  21. A question for those who have ordered the BinaxNOW test kits to COVID test in order to re-enter the US: once the order was placed, how long did it take for your kits to arrive? We're traveling next month, and want one less worry (stressing over getting our kits on time). We plan on getting a six-pack, so we'll have enough for our other trip in the fall. Thanks in advance!
