  1. Thanks for your post. We got the 30 obc plus an upgrade.

Did they charge you anything for the upgrade? We moved from a 8c to a 8d(our PVP recommended it) but they charged us $20. I am fine with that..but just curious if you were charged an upgrade fee.

  2. Can you just change PVP?

Yes..but the new PVP would not get the money from the booking. The new PVP I talked with was very hesitant to do anything(because I had already booked with someone else) I needed to send an email..saying I wanted to change pvps and why. It hasn't officially been changed but hopefully soon.

  3. I have always booked via the website, or just calling in. I have never booked with a PVP. That said, lately, every time i log in to check on cruises I get a call from my PVP. We are considering a cruise in October. Do I gain anything by booking with a PVP vs. booking on the website?

    Thanks!

It really depends on the PVP. I had one..she called me all the time until I booked. When I called to ask questions..she was snappy and didn't look up my account. A couple people suggested a different one and I contacted her. She has been great..already got me a better cabin and OBC. So..a referral from someone who has one they like..is a good idea.

  4. We have an option to upgrade our booking. We currently are on the Empress deck room 7389 which is the last cabin before aft. The upgrade would be to the Verandah deck..room 8304. My guess is it's about 20 rooms closer to midship than our current room. The upgrade would include $50 onboard credit. The price stays the same. My only concern is I have heard the Verandah can be nosy from the lido deck above? But might be worth the OBC?

This is our first cruise so...any help or opinions would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  5. Thank you to all who have responded. I did a some searching last night and a PVPs name kept popping up with great reviews. I called had last night and left a voicemail. She called today and said she really wasn't comfortable taking someone else's booking. She did take a look at my booking and asked a lot of questions the other pvp did not. The deal that I asked my other pvp about is good for us and is the same price. With that..I told her I really wanted to change to her. She said I would need to email into carnival and request the change. I feel awful about her working with me but not getting the commission and told her that. Thank you for all the suggestions. I appreciate the help.

  6. I'm really unhappy with the one we booked with. Just didn't seem like she wanted to help me. I have called her since and felt like I was bothering her. Can I call and ask for a new pvp? I feel uncomfortable calling my current one with any questions.

    Thank you

  7. I thought that if your category sold out you could not price match. At least that was what I was told by Carnival. Also, you could not get the price match of a lower category than a 4k...that makes no sense.

Here is a link to a good discussion on it here on CC:

    .

Thank you. I read through it...the guy on the phone...wouldn't even look into it. He said if the form said no..that was it. Kept saying there must be none of my category available. I am fine with no price drops..I booked the price but just want to make sure if they are available..I understand them.

    Thank you

  8. Without knowing any thing about you-I can say that in progreso we did the Uxmal and Hacienda tour, and we loved it. Two out of the 4 of us had always wanted to visit Mayan ruins, and this was the perfect place to start. Plenty of history, beautiful area and ruins, and our small snack, which to us was a great lunch, in a serene setting was the highlight of our cruise. You will have to be more specific about what you want to see or experience before you get more answers. Good luck and have a great cruise.

my oldest wants to visit the ruins..have heard amazing things about Uxmal. Just not sure my 12 yr old would be interested and have heard there is a lot of walking. I guess I would just like my kids to really experience Mexico..since it is all of our first times out of the USA. We will be doing beach stuff in Cozumel..so not looking to do that in progreso. Thank you for the idea

  9. We've had great luck finding price drops. So far, our price has fallen $500+ for four on the Breeze sailing June 20. But we love the fare-finder link. We've wondered how to compare prices after final payment was sent and comparable cabins were sold out. Fare-finder (http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/FareViewer/#) should allow us to check prices as often as we want up until 2 days to departure. Still hoping we can secure OBC before sailing. :)

Wow!!! That is impressive..I should hire you to do mine..lol. We cruise in August and not a single price drop yet.

  10. Let's be clear, there are no more sexual predators running around loose than there were 20, 30, or 40 years ago. They are a stable percentage of the population, not increasing. What there is now is far more fear of this proportionately small number of pedophiles than there used to be.

So there isn't a pedophile lurking behind every corner now. Same as always, there are a small number of pedophiles. Most pedophiles try to "groom" their targets - they befriend them, try to latch on to them, suck up to them if you will. If your child starts mentioning someone's name regularly, have an eye out. Really skillful pedophiles will also "groom" the family, to gain trust. So if an adult starts hanging around your family, telling you how great your kid is and offering to do things with the kid, have an eye out. This advice applies equally to cruise ships and communities.

It's not about whether the child adheres to your "rules." You chose go on this cruise with your kids. You didn't leave them with family or friends so you could lounge around doing whatever you like to do - you chose to take the kids on the cruise. So for me, it's about the "rules" you give yourself as a parent. Why aren't you doing something fun with them? Why aren't you where they are because you like being with them? Why aren't you thinking of ways you can have great times together as a family? If you wanted a vacation where you didn't have to look after the kids, you should have arranged that. If you brought the kids, you should be making this a vacation about all of you.

I agree and disagree. My son is 12.. Would he rather hang out with other kids or me?? Hmmmm,,,the kids clubs don't allow the parents to hang out with the kids there..do they? So..should the parents then just sit and wait outside the club? Why can't it be a vacation for everyone? Some me time..some their time..some our time? I don't see anything wrong with that. I have no intention of getting on the cruise and never seeing my kids again..but I think it's possible to have a little of everything.
