  1. I am in the "tip a little bit in cash" camp, which will, in fact, get you a bartender friend for the trip.

But, beyond that... I learn how to say "Thank You" in the native language of every crew member I come in contact with (one trip it was over 20 languages)... NOTHING will get you a quicker friend than that, and you will be the first to get served, and your drinks will always be "special" and filled before you can make it to the bar.

Try it, it's really quite fun to see the reaction.

  2. Thanks for taking the time for write this review. I know how time consuming it can be to write a review and organize the photos, etc. We are going on the Navigator in just over 30 days (but who's keeping track? ) . Sadly, my work blocks the photos, so I will have to look again later tonight at home.

I imagine we will review our trip on our blog after we get back. It's a lot of fun to be able to re-live the trip... it helps to pass the time until the next one.

    Thanks again, and cheers!

  3. The Divina is a beautiful ship. I felt the MDR food was OK, but the buffet (surprisingly) was quite good, and that is where we ate most of our meals. We also ate a LOT of the pizza from the buffet, and once bought our own pizza at the little Italian place, which was a nice, quiet place to hang out and enjoy a drink or two.

Enjoy your trip. I would love to go back on the Divina.

  4. When we went to the Dive in on our 3-day Amsterdam cruise, I was already so stuffed from Breakfast or Lunch or something, that I didn't have room to really even enjoy... SO I honestly don't recall the sauce. I have a few pictures of the burger and fries and one of the hot dogs on a blog post, but cannot see the sauce in them. I've been trying to shed a few pounds so when I see the pics of the food, I definitely start salivating!

  5. I'd say go for it. It sounds like you would enjoy a quiet environment a lot more than one with loud, overwhelming music. I went on HAL for the first time recently (review with a lot of photos below), and had a great time. I took the wife and my 3 teenage boys, and it was a nice, relaxing trip.

Take a peek at some photos, and you will also notice that this group is a lot closer-knit than some of the other boards on here. Enjoy!

  6. We took the Divina from Miami and loved it. Quieter and more laid back than Carnival, but more upbeat than HAL. The shows (in my opinion ) were great. The Main Dining food was good, but not amazing. Enjoyed their pizzas and actually really liked the buffet.

Either way, go for it, and have a great time!

  7. Good point. Maybe I will just need to put on my big boy pants and make the call. :) like maybe a steak sandwich with no bbq sauce. Any good tips I should know, like things that aren't listed that I can get anyway? (i.e. HAL will bring whatever you want to your room for breakfast, if the MDR is open.. you can ask for eggs benedict even)...

I will say that "honey stung chicken" sounds like something I am going to want.

  8. Enjoy your trip. The buffet (in my opinion) was pretty decent, and the PIZZA... Oh my, the PIZZA. :)

We have a few pictures on our blog if you'd like to take a peek. Cruising is fun... you may be hooked. MSC Divina is pretty laid back. Try several lines and see which one appeals most to you!.

    Cheers!

  9. Seems there is a lot of back and forth on this one. :)

I can say that we were served everything on the MS Amsterdam, for the first 48 hours on our 27-30 May cruise this year (review on our blog, below). The food and drink, including water and juice, etc were all handed to us in the Lido. It created some delays, but since the crowds were small, it wasn't so bad.
