Some people like it because it allows them to pre-pay for things they know they'll buy onboard. Spreads out the expense of their vacation through out the year. Not worth the hassle to me personally.
They seem to be relatively prompt with credit card refunds, perhaps because they know the customers have a strong recourse by filing a chargeback. With a gift card you're essentially paying cash so you're relying on the goodwill of a company $30bn (and counting) in debt to pay you back. Sobering when you think about it.
Show some compassion, we are in the middle of a bacon crisis that has been going on for going on 2 years exclusively on Carnival ships.
That looks like a stop on the botulism train to me though.
Yes they really want people to just buy Cheers. You're not really coming out ahead by buying a bottle anymore. I mean you save a little bit, especially considering you're not tipping for each drink. But still not much.
You can just request a table at the MDR when your wife is able to eat every night, but if you really do need the assigned table then yes waitlist early dining, contact special needs, or speak to the maitre'd on embarkation day (they make themselves available in the MDR for a few hours to handle special requests like this).
I usually will get off for at least 30 minutes or so at every port, even Freeport. Just to stretch my legs and soak in the sun. But I don't stay onshore long in Freeport, not much to see unless you're doing an excursion. At least until the new port at Grand Bahama opens.
Carnival only considers land-based casino offers as far as I'm aware. Their goal is to get a land-based gambler to try cruising, not necessarily to "steal" customers of other lines so to speak.
You can try uploading your other cruise line's offers on that page if it allows you, but no guarantees they'll consider it.
Souvenir glasses are not included in Cheers. So while you can get the drink under Cheers, you will have to pay for the souvenir glass. And there are no "free refills"
I guess I can see that, it's $150 - not life changing money obviously. It's possible to spend more than that at Chili's nowadays. I would be spending all day on the phone if it was my $150 but we're all different with different priorities.
But if you actually want resolution you're not going to get it from Carnival. They've already demonstrated they don't care when they hung up on you twice. You have to take it to your attorney general, the BBB, or some other organization that will escalate the issue to somebody at Carnival that actually cares about their job and customer service.
Once a card is zero'ed out, Carnival can't reload it. They have to issue a new gift card.
But you may be right if that gift card had some balance left on it, they may have just added to the balance.
