  1. Hi all-

8 days until I embark on the Getaway and couldn't be more excited! The ports are Roatan, harvest caye, Costa maya, and Cozumel.

We haven't booked any excursions yet, however have some questions.

Besides harvest key, does anyone know if the other 3 stops have beach massages by the port?

Are excursions necessary at any of the ports for safety reasons? We're trying to figure out what to do and any feedback would be helpful!

    Thanks!

Here are some ideas for Costa Maya- like the other stops everything is safe. :)

We loved the monkey experience at Gumbalimba- it was truly an unforgettable excursion! This excursion can only be done through the cruise ship-I reviewed it here-

  3. Hi all, I am debating on whether or not to purchase the Specialty Dining package, but I am having some trouble finding pictures of the menus currently on board. Can someone point me to a current review that has some?

Also, my daughter is really looking forward to the Shanghai's which I understand is complimentary - can anyone share a menu from that, or let me know what the experience is like?

    TIA

    Hi there!

I reviewed the Getaway here and have some descriptions of the specialty dining and food-http://thecheerfulcruiser.blogspot.com/search?q=getaway

We liked Shanghai but do get there right when they open at 5:30 if you don't want to get a pager and wait! :) They are only open for dinner and you can ask to sit by where they cook to watch them make the food too! :) There are apps, soups, noodle and rice dishes and desserts. If you have the UBP they have a few specialty drinks too that are included with it. Have fun!! I love the Getaway!

  4. Ahoy There Mates !

I believe I used to receive "Latitudes Rewards Insider Offers" via email from NCL.

Is this how NCL announces the Insider Offers ?

Or... do I have to search for them online (ridiculous!)

    TIA

Our PCC always let's us know when the insider offers apply to us....but I do recall getting emails about 4-5 months ago-I cannot say I have gotten any for awhile though!

  5. Free adult beverages on Sky. That only would make me choice NCL. Plus Sky offers more dining options. We've sail RCL Majesty for a quick getaway a few times. But would give the edge to Sky.

I would choose the Sky as well- in fact we are doing the Sky 3 day in August for our son's 18th bday! We just upgraded to a suite for it since we will have 4 people and we wanted the "perks" of a suite. For my son we can sign for him to drink wine and beer (18-20) and we can enjoy cocktails without spending an arm and a leg on them! :)

  6. We have done specialty dining twice-on the Getaway and the Spirit. On the Spirit we were able to choose several apps, salad or soup and 2 desserts. On the Getaway we were told we could choose 1 app, 1 soup or salad, 1 entree and 1 dessert. That being said my son expressed how he liked 2 desserts in Le Bistro and they happily brought him both at no extra charge. :)

  7. We are in a suite both on the Pearl and Sky in March and August of this year-our first SF too! :) My NCL PVP told me in addition to a butler and concierge we get priority embarkation/debarkation/tendering, a dedicated area in the theater to sit, breakfast and lunch in Cagneys with a special menu and spa bath products in the room. We are excited! I will certainly share our experience when we return mid March! :)

  8. As alcohol is included on this ship for everyone there are no gratuities to pay for the package. You can tip the bartenders if you wish but drinks are accounted for in the cruise fare (hence why the prices can be a bit higher)

  9. We'll be on the Pearl in 10164 the end of March here's a youtube video looks like from 2006. There should be some updates with the upcoming refurbishment.

We will be in 10164 on March 3rd so I will post pictures and a review when we return! (Unless we stay on the boat forever! :) lol)

  10. My 17 year old enjoyed hanging in the Black and White Disco and dancing with the 18+ year olds more than he liked the teen club! The group of teens were more into playing Mario and my son likes to dance so he spent most nights enjoying the clubs and deck parties! He met lots of friendly young people too and even met a new friends who was seated with us at dinner with his grandpa and it turned out they lived near us! :) MSC offers dance lessons during the day and trivia too-which is fun and folks group up together as teams. :)

  11. We are choosing Cagneys. Moderno and Le Bistro yet again for our cruise in a few weeks- as those were our favorites after trying most of them! My teenage son loved the meats at Moderno and Cagneys and we all appreciated the French cuisine at Le Bistro. Teppanayki is good but very similar to a land based Hibachi restaurant. Have fun!!!

  12. ALL suite guests (Haven and non-Haven) enjoy breakfast and lunch in Moderno. We always booked Deck 10 AFT suites (10166 is a personal favorite and we have stayed in it at least 6 times) and enjoy breakfast and lunch in Moderno. The Haven on the Pearl (at this time) does NOT have a dedicated Haven Restaurant (maybe one will be added in drydock but I can't imagine where they could put it!) but we have also enjoyed many meals in the Haven Courtyard on the Pearl (when we stayed in the 2 BDRM Haven suite and the 1 BDRM Haven suite) and it's very enjoyable!

Our personal preference when staying in a non-Haven suite is to have breakfast and lunch served on our balcony. We ask our butler to bring the Moderno breakfast/lunch menus on day 1 (as well as all the specialty restaurant menus) so that we can just order what we feel like eating without having to go up to Moderno.

NCL treats their suite guests incredibly well and with the Pearl being our favorite ship overall, we have loved your review~ It is a very special ship with a very special crew........:)

Thanks for this info! We are so excited!!! :)
