  1. Will be in CT this October via RCI and am trying to decide between two ship tours. One is via boat and stops at three villages. The other is by bus/train and stops at 2 (includes a meal as well). Any recommendations on which we should do?

  2. My husband proposed on a cruise via an excursion. It was via a helicopter that we took to a glacier (from Juneau - Herbert Glacier). It was stunning and unexpected. The pilot captured the moment and then there was champagne and the stunning flight back to port. I would highly recommend doing something like that - helicopter to tour, factor in a stop somewhere beautiful, pop the question, toast....and then return. Make sure if you do this you let the concierge know and schedule to have champagne or similar in your cabin upon your return. We did (it was Celebrity) and the captain heard about it, so the champagne was upgraded and a nice note left from the captain as well. Best day of my life until then!

  3. Loving this already! We actually booked a cruise on Sunday, sailing out of FLL this coming Sunday, ourselves. We have a travel blog and I was thinking of making this cruise my first ever daily ‘live’ blog post series. I was trying to think about how to do it and you just made it clear! Pics on the blog, text on both. Thank you for that! I will look forward to reading about your voyage for the next couple of months as well!

Bon voyage and thank you again!

Depends a bit on how cheap the fares are now.  I normally have a per day price in my mind for the category I like and go from there.  With only 9 days left to sailing, I doubt it will get much cheaper.

That is a good rule of thumb. I haven't sailed on HAL in so long that I have no idea what is a good price. I will get it figured out though. Thank you!

I have been monitoring fares from San Diego in January.  The fares later in the month are real good right now.

I saw those (we live in San Diego too)! Unfortunately, I start a new job near the end of the month, so I can't take advantage. Thank you so much for making sure I knew about them!

  6. We are considering a last minute cruise leaving on January 6th and all categories are showing availability. I am also wondering if I should book today (no extras and price hasn't moved in the last couple of weeks) or wait until Tuesday and see. Cutting it pretty close...

  7. Not the same ship, but our Millie cruise in December was disappointing enough that I am literally writing this from my balcony onboard the Oasis of the Seas. In fact, I wrote about our experience both in my survey and on Facebook. On FB, X publicly said they would contact me to discuss further. Well guess what, they never did. I followed up again and they still never even returned my call. I cancelled all X future cruises and am now looking to find my new cruise line. Not 100% sure it will be RC (so many kid activities and we do not have children). That all said, I really wish X would start listening to all these issues and fix them. So many of us have top statuses and only book top suites and do not want to leave...but nothing is making me/us want to stay either.

  8. We sailed o the Millennium 11/12/17 sailing round trip out of Singapore, with port stops in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Phillipines and Malaysia. When we boarded, we were never asked for a cop of our passport, Celebrity just took them, and processed our visa's for Vietnam and also our entry card for the Phillipines. We needed to show them when we got on and off the ship at those ports.

I did a live review from our sailing, here:

Thank you! Guess what? Because we are staying over night in Halong Bay, we have had to have a formal portrait session to get official visas and we did have to get those visas secured before we left Thailand. According to the ship personnel, those staying over night need to disclose this to guest services early in the cruise or yo the suite concierge to have this handled.:) whew!

  9. Hi Debbie,

Are you disembarking in Hong Kong? Will you be staying overnight in Hong Kong?

I’m not sure if you leave and go home right away. I was wondering if you could give us a post to tell us how the disembarkation works. Normally on Celebrity you can roll off your luggage and the rest have to take a number. We need to be off the ship at 7:00 am. Do you have any advice on how we can get off the ship on time so we can meet our car and driver?

    Thank you so much.

    Jonathan

If anyone knows Debbie’s cruise schedule could you please let me know?

Hi Jonathan! Debbie’s cruise is actually a round trip Singapore cruise,. Hong Kong was just to be a day stop for them. Like us, though, this cruise ends with an overnight in their final port. So even though it is a different city/country, we should get additional info on how the disembarkation process works when you have been in port for 24 hours! I believe this cruise has just a few more days (13th through 27th??) so I’m sure she will be able to share some additional info soon. :) I can believe our cruise is so close!!! :)

Debbie, Borocay looks every bit like paradise! And what gorgeous weather you had! :)

  10. We enjoyed our day, other than having to wait for all the people to get back to the bus. We don't normally do excursions through the ship. We have been spoiled by private excursions and having only our group on excursions (numbers vary depending on how many of us travel together).

The cable car ride had fabulous views. Well worth the time.

Thank you! I don’t usually do ship excursions either, but I do have a bunch of OBC and our roll call has organized most of the other excursions already. Thanks again!:)

  11. In Hong Kong, We docked at the Kai Tak cruise terminal. There is nothing around there. Lots of construction. If you walk anywhere, it a very long walk just to get out of the terminal area.

Because if traffic and time constraints, we decided to do a ship excursion. Lantau Island and Ngong Ping 360 w/vegetation lunch at Po Lin Monastery. We took a tour bus from the terminal through the city and over to the Island. Then, we had to switch tour buses to continue up to a small fishing Village, Tai O

We then went to the big Buddah

    Lunch was next

A little shopping on our walk over to the cable car ride to take us off the island (beside the airport) and got the bus back to the ship.

The tour was 7 hours, a long day. There was traffic everywhere. That is why we went with a ship tour. We didn't experience traffic on our own.

Excellent updates! Would you do the Hong Kong tour again or would you do something else if you could redo the day?

    Gorgeous sunset pics too! :)

  12. Thank you so much for doing this live thread! We will be on the Millie December 10th and have quite an active roll call. I'm going to let the group know about your live thread so do anticipate many coming here to visit! :-)

After your cruise, I will be very interested to hear your recommendations for packaging clothes for this cruise and any must see/do not miss info from Singapore and Hong Kong! And, of course, your daily info!

  13. The CC cabins that are next door to the RS on the M-class ships (there is one on each side of the ship) are adjoining and have an interior door that can be left open between the two cabins. Their children would not be alone in a cabin with the only access out in the hallway.

Not necessarily. Only one set of the CC cabins are connected cabins. The others are not. Another poster motioned non-connecting cabins and the OP did not correct that statement.

In my previous RSs on Summit and Millie, I can confirm the CC cabin next to us was not connecting. And I can further confirm we never heard the door bell while sleeping in the bedroom. All my concerns here.

  14. People seriously think it is ok to have a 4 and 6 year old in a cabin without a door the parents can get into unless they completely leave their cabin and go into another one?? If one of the children got hurt or needed something, they would leave the cabin, be locked out or their own and stuck in the hallway knocking and asking for their parents on a royal suite with its own bedroom??? Or worse, they could be unable to open the door even if needed? This can’t be real life. These aren’t teenagers! I seriously hope this is not something X allows.
