  1. I am on this December's version of this cruise and have not seen any tour to Angkor Wat listed while we overnight in the port nearest Bangkok. They do have an over night in Bangkok itself available though.

  2. As it is, it's difficult for me to book in advance due to my job and my husband's schedule, though I do book as far as a possibly can since the cabins we prefer seem to go fast now (RS/PH). That said, if my deposits of $1800 will not be refunded, I will absolutely not book before final payment and until I know FOR SURE I can take the cruise. I understand that this means I will probably have to explore other cruise lines if suite bookings continue to be sold out in advance, but I'm not willing to risk the $ (both for the high cost of cancel anytime insurance or the deposits). Adding that provision to my insurance typically doubles the premium, so all in all booking more than 60 days out is seeming less and less worth it.

  3. Thank you. That is great advixe for anyone sailing to Halong Bay. Unfortunately, part of my challenge was that those on my roll call have been so proactive for the last 16 months that they booked most of their private charters over a year before I booked the cruise! They are all full, including the Indochina Junk one. In fact, between ours and the Azamara ship, all they gave left now is junks available for day tours only.

So glad I was actually able to find something though. :) Thanks for posting.

  4. Interesting now there's a CS available for our sailing. The morning I switched to the Signature Suite, the Royal was available as well, but was now priced at what the Sig was when I thought it was too high. I wonder if the people in the currently available CS grabbed the Royal Suite? If they booked a while ago, it could possibly be very close to what they originally paid for the CS.

This is literally the game I play as well. I am never able to book far out (because work means that I end up canceling - never fails). So, typically when I book, I can only grab based on the limited inventory. We are on the Millie to Asia in early December and the only suite available was one CS (that an insides!). Now a Sky keeps popping up. I really want an RS or PS, so I am so hopeful one of those will open up. This is a 14 night cruise, and even though we have 2 overnights scheduled off the ship, the 5 sea days and me working on my doctorate means will definitely use the extra space. Also, our roll call has been extremely busy - if I snagged a PH we would definitely be able to host everyone a couple of nights for sail aways. Anyway, typing this out to put it out to the universe in hopes this happens and a good priced upgrade happens this cruise too. Please send some lucky vibes out for me! :-)

  5. As an update, I contacted Indochina and they told me their 1 cabin junks were only available as a day tour and not an over night tour. I finally found Legend Halong and were able to book a private charter with them. They state that as long as you get the the port by 4:00pm they are good to go for private tours.

    Thanks again.

  6. Trust me, I used to think the same thing! We have been getting $xxxx amounts of OBC for our recent longer cruises in suites. Each time I think, "we will never spend it all!" Each time....I do and then some. I don't get it, but it happens! LOL ;p

    ENJOY!

  7. The terms and conditions for October Go Big Go Better Go Best promotion says:

Any existing reservation canceled between October 3 and November 1, 2017 and re-booked between October 3 and November 1, 2017, will not be eligible to participate in the promotion.

To get around this all you have to do is book a different cabin type. I have done that before, no issues. DH and I thought we couldn't cruise, found out we could, so we canceled, rebooked (under a promo) but upgraded the cabin (it was cheaper) and we received all the perks. This was all through a TA.

  8. Hi all -

We are sailing on the Celebrity Millennium December cruise with an overnight in Halong Bay. Because we do not get in until 12:00pm, X is not doing an overnight or all day junk tour and I am really wanting to do an overnight tour. However, I cannot find a larger junk tour that will allow us to join as they all expect to leave with all passengers on board at the same time we arrive in the Bay. I am now considering chartering one of the smaller one cabin private junks from companies that will allow us to be a little bit flexible with the sail away time for our tour. Of course, we want to be off our ship, on the pier, and beginning our tour ASAP, but I know that it doesn't always work like that.

Can anyone give me the name of vendors that are able to be slightly flexible with their sail away time? Thank you so much in advance!

Sidenote - those on our cruise that booked way before us always scheduled a group of people to charter a larger junk and tour together. That tour filled up before I even booked, so that isn't an option at this time.

  9. I'm kind of in the same boat. Overnight, the cruise I was wanting for December sold out of Suites (and our back up, Aqua). I really want back on X, but now I'm having to find another cruise instead. I'm actually pretty bummed! We got engaged on an X cruise, honeymooned on an X cruise, and take X for all the vacations we get to do together. Oh well.......I can always hope someone just put holds on cabins and they get released!

  10. Reading this post makes me realize that I may have created some confusion on the other thread on this subject.

We cruised in a suite on the recent Reflection TA. Our butler informed us that the normal afternoon tea where they delivery snacks and tea from a cart to your cabin has been replaced by an everyday afternoon tea in the Michael's Club. We did attend one day after a shore excursion and there were a lot of nice choices.

They do still delivery the plate of snacks in the afternoon if you want them. They seem to be the same as the ones used for Aqua Class. Our friends stayng in an Aqua Class cabin arranged for a shrimp cocktail each day.

NYDee, I wonder if this is the "treats" that you are referencing?

I believe it is the snack selection and tea from the the cart that is being eliminated as a standard option. I am convinced if requested the butler can delivery you snacks and tea each day upon request.

I am onboard the Equnox in an RS right now. I can confirm the above per the butler and Michael's Concierge. Tea from 3-4pm in Michael's is now fleet wide. Afternoon snacks (canapés, shrimp cocktail, cheese plate) can still be delivered in the 5-6pm timeframe for all suites.

  11. I've been on this board since Cruise Critic's inception and this is the first time I have ever seen a post or thread that Celebrity's kids programs were not safe so these complaints are not well known. H

It is your opinion but have you ever taken a child on a Celebrity cruise. I have on numerous occasions over the years taken my children since they were 5 and7 years old and their programs are extremely good and safe. I can also say that one of my kids had learning disabilities and was treated wonderfully on Celebrity ships.

The message you are saying is don't sail on Celebrity with your kids but I have no experience to explain why I am saying that except that Celebrity ships are designed for adults which is totally ludicrous. If Celebrity didn't cater to families they wouldn't be around as a cruise line since they almost folded in the 90s.

In our young niece's opinion, X is boring and for adults. Our our teen nephew's opinion, X is 'lame' and there is 'nothing to do.' The young ones prefer Disney or RC and the older ones prefer RC. When there are family cruises, that is where we sail. My DH and I sail on X when we sail alone or for adult only cruises.

  12. Your opinion not shared by thousands of families.

It's obviously my opinion...and the OP's given the numerous complaints of things that are well known and available should she have asked before taking this cruise. If you come here and complain about your kids' experience in a club or on a ship in the same context, I will absolutely repeat the same message to you as well.

  13. The difference with all OBC and everything ...tips etc. is 4,376. So, is that worth it to me???

An SS wouldn't be worth that much more to me. But, this is me! lol You may feel differently. For me, the best part of having a butler is the morning deliver of breakfast/coffee/tea that is set up on the balcony or at the dining table that does not wake me (due to a seperate bedroom). Then as he has left, receiving the phone call, "Ma'am, breakfast has been served on your balcony/at your table"

SIGH - now that is worth it! :D

  14. I hate to disagree here, but I would go with Royal on this one for you. You specifically mentioned loving night life and Celebrity doesn't offer as much in comparison. I've been on X NYE cruises and even NYE was pretty mild with people buying bottles of bubbly every where, putting on their festive items and getting the party going at 9pm, but the place/ship was a ghost town by 12:15am.

If you are interested in a more subdued night life expereince, then go X! X is currently my favorite line, but I wanted you to know what you were getting.

  15. Honestly, and I only sail suites, but I would not in this scenario. I typically only cruise when I can pay 10-12k for RS (higher for PH) on a 7-10 day cruise and would certainly not pay that amount for a SS. At that price point, I would go with an A1 and then watch for price drops. If you get the SS down to a reasonable level (or higher price for a better suite) then I would upgrade.

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

  16. I'm the OP and wanted to give an update on pre-cruise reservations. We're in a Royal Suite sailing in December on Reflection. To my surprise, I received an email from Shoreside Concierge Edwin --at the beginning of October -- asking if we had an requests. Our reservations for specialty dining are booked and it feels great knowing that everything is set for our cruise. Sending Celebrity (and Edwin) a big thank you for reaching out to guests earlier. Great customer service!

I'm sailing a month earlier than you and I still haven't been contacted???
