  1. They are offering money back or fcc or 15 percent off future cruise if booked by august RIchard
  2. I just was advised that silverseas just cancelled all of their cruises to Japan for the year today Richard
  3. It is my understanding that silverseas just cancelled all the cruises to Japan for the year and are offering money back or fcc or if you re book another cruise in august 15 percent off RICHARD
  4. Silverseas just cancelled all of their fall cruises to Asia today. Have no idea where their ships are headed after September 1st. Richard
  5. For more info on Japan try TravelCaffeine dot com. I signed up for them to notify me when anything changes in Japan in regard to tourist travel. Richard
  6. Funny you should mention some of the restaurants having biscotti as I do not believe venues share as my to go drink at 5 was Bombay sapphire and tonic but two of the bars and one restaurant said they ran out and had to substitute however all other venues served Bombay sapphire and said they had plenty what is up with that. I asked everyday for one to my wife’s amazement at both bars but to no avail for 10 days until we got Covid. One of the quirks with silverseas but had fun ordering everyday hoping they had borrowed a bottle. Even the coffee shop had it. Richard
  7. Viking has a cruise going to Japan and China that leaves on September 20th and Viking is all over the place as to what needs to be done including saying no visas required but their latest e mail seems to say that each individual must have a visa and that Viking is trying to work with travel agents in Japan to sponsor cruisers on shore excursions and each cruiser must apply in person at embassy or consulate 5 days or more before departure but Japanese authorities have not approved anything and I also read that less than 300 people used Japanese travel agents on bubble tours in Japan in all of june. No one knows anything and I have to wonder why Viking, silverseas and Oceania are using up all their goodwill for these 3 cruises. Silverseas is the first September 1st so we will see. Good luck and please post any news as a lot of us are keeping up with your cruise since it is first in line. Richard
  8. We were on the moon in late May for a cruise from London to Iceland and I Agree salt bar is amazing and the bartender who was new to the moon was fantastic. My wife had to have the gin moon drink just to see him make it every night and she met everyone that came in most nights Food was okay not great but venues were fine. I do agree that wines took awhile to get to the table but waited. Waitstaff was overwhelmed at times but sommelier was fantastic in la tarraza restaurant as he decanted my bottles every night with the most amazing decanter I have ever seen. Did not care for the vibe or food in the main dining room and kept to salt kitchen and la tarraza and your review was spot on with coffee bar, as a total WASTE OF A GREAT VENUE IN MY opinion. Staff did not know how to do anything and had never heard of biscotti. All in all a good cruise but will have to say my wife and I got Covid the last few days of cruise. Staff was great and quarantined us on a lower deck with numerous others in same situation but once off ship transferred us to hotel for 5 nights in Reykjavik at their expense with $200 a day food allowance and flew us home first class and once home send us a fcc that was very fair. Silverseas gets a lot of credit in my opinion for their treatment of us during Covid. No fever, no symptoms and boosted but still caught it. My wife thinks we got it in Liverpool at the Beatles museum which was quite crowded as was all of Liverpool. Richard rehfeldt
  9. Thanks for info. They have added the bubble tours since the last time I viewed.
  10. I feel your anxiety as we are booked on a 42 day from LA to Hong Kong with 12 days in Japan on Oceania late September and we have already had final payment and Oceania still says they are sailing and no visa required even though everyone knows visas are required and Japan is not giving any to tourist now. I keep talking to my TA and she keeps giving me the Oceania BS. They have my money and I have a fcc tied up with them and they did not allow me to move it to January cruise. Expect more from Silverseas as we cruised from London to Iceland in May on Moon and caught Covid while on ship and they were great and put us up in hotel for 5 nights in Iceland with two hundred dollar for food per day and fcc when we got home. Think positive but do not expect to go to Japan or China this year on a cruise ship. Richard
  11. They are absolutely worth the difference. Once you go to ph on any of the ships it is hard to go back. We always try to book ph3’s nearest center of ship. Richard Rehfeldt
