No problem! Also, I think clarea is of the male persuasion. Lol

Once you hit the Platinum Membership in the C&A, we noticed it says you get a discount on balconies. How much of a discount do you get?
Also, I know that they match Celebrity Member Benefits....how exactly does that work? We are currently Gold with Royal (14 pts) but have sailed with Celebrity (11 pts). Do they combine the points?? Kind of confused as to how that works. Thanks in advance :)
Depends on the length of sailing and how far in advance. For example, a 7 night sailing 6 months in advance gets $100 off, less than 6 months in advance is $75. This is per cabin, not per person.
As far as Celebrity goes, no, you can't combine the points because they're separate loyalty programs; however, if you reach Platinum with Royal that'll make you Select with Celebrity, even if you only have enough points with them to be Classic. Hope this helps!

The employee who told you that is just wrong. Call and get a different rep. Even if you aren't a crown and anchor member, the crown and anchor reps will still help you.

Freedom class and above tend to sail to capacity, I've noticed. As for groups, not really, unless the group has a website, like the biker group that goes on Freedom, or the heavy metal group. I guess you could google it, but RCI isn't going to divulge that info.

Royal Caribbean no longer calls it CruiseCare, they've very recently changed it to Royal Caribbean Travel Protection. The insurance company is the same though.
If you book your air with RCI I recommend doing their insurance because it also covers the air if you have to cancel.

I will point out that while a W is a suite guarantee, that doesn't mean they don't have guarantees in other suite categories. They do have guarantees in the GS that aren't Ws. If this is the case, go for it.

I would take the cruise reviews with a grain of salt. If you look at the people that post the negative reviews, they usually are one time posters, which means the only reason they joined cruise critic is to complain. Sometimes you can find fairly objective reviews on the forum, but even then, that's their experience. Go for yourself and experience it for yourself. I find that the reviews tend to be nitpicky, which generally means they were looking for stuff to complain about. Don't worry about it, just go prepared to have a good time.

I'm biased but I would choose the Liberty. They're adding water slides and your kids are going to have a blast. Plus the entertainment is better than both NCL/CCL.

This is Wave season....low prices. I wouldn't wait.
I second this.

For motion sickness, I recommend Queasy Drops. They're made by a company called Three Lollies, and they originally created Preggie Pops to help with morning sickness. The Queasy Drops are incredibly effective, I keep them on hand for everything from motion sickness to generalized nausea. I'm going to take a couple boxes with me on my Alaskan cruise this summer, it'll be my son's first cruise and I'm not sure if he'll get motion sickness or not. In any case, I find that Allure and Oasis' sizes help in that regard; they're so large that you hardly feel the motion. At least that was my experience.

How many of you are going? if it's just two people it's not that bad.

Thanks everyone.
No problem. Enjoy your cruise!

Formal night ("Lobster night" or "Captain's night") is typically the 2nd and 6th nights of sailing. That being said, WHEN the lobster is offered is up to the ship staff's discretion. Those are just the usual nights on a 7 day cruise.

The C&A desk can't refund your shore excursion, they really only handle pre cruise planning. You will have to contact guest relations.

People are afraid of change. The Quantum class creates cognitive dissonance for certain cruisers.

I have to say I really appreciate the OP's attitude. You were upfront, honest, you just wanted to genuinely express dissatisfaction at the service you experienced, and despite the bad service you weren't necessarily calling for the guy to get fired. I highly recommend calling RCI and telling them this exactly as you reported it here. I'm sure they actually would want to know if their vendors were acting this way towards their customers.

Aw man! I was really hoping for Phantom of the Opera.

Here's the thing; most people who post reviews, especially the negative ones, only write one review and aren't people that actually post on the forum, because they know their view won't be challenged. And then we never see them again. If you're going to read a review, look for the ones on the forum; even then, take it with a grain of salt. Your cruise experience largely depends on what you make of it.

We do it all the time. Royal will just take back the staterooms that they don't sell. The group rate is nothing special, it's just the rate that was in force at the time the TA first got the staterooms. However, if they don't sell some minimum number of staterooms (I believe 8 double occupancy), then they may not be able to offer some other perks, like OBC.
If the group falls below the minimum requirement the group will still remain a group and they'll keep their onboard credit, as long as the TA tells Royal what they want for their amenities before the final payment date. If the amenities aren't assigned before then the group will lose it.

Sometimes you can't always have your cake and eat it too.

I don't watch South Park, won't go to Book Of Mormon! Another vote to stay home!
And I totally agree with your Phantom! I would love, love, love to see that on a cruise ship. I actually would love to see it anywhere! Have gone three times over the years and cannot get enough!
Lauri
I absolutely LOVE Phantom of the Opera and think it would be perfect for a cruise ship. It would be perfect for the Harmony too.

Great responses!
The Book of Mormon is coming to our town but my 22 year old DS says I should not go! Is it that bad for a slightly prudish Mom?
Lauri
Put it this way...if you don't like or watch South Park, you would not like Book of Mormon.
Does anyone know why
