Encore June22/2025 Alaska - Inside Passage or not?
vacation44 replied to rnr4thatsme's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We are also booked on the Encore in June 2025. All the June 2025 Encore cruises are not in the inside passage. -

The majority of the people who post about the Vibe have a different opinion, mine included. We first paid $99 back in 2016 and have been happily paying the increases since to us, and many others, the price is well worth it. -
Very funny and very true. NCL should just takeaway that as a listed benefit.

Enjoying reading your review so far and looking forward to reading the rest of your report.

Twisted Teas and Mikes on NCL
vacation44 replied to Islands and Cruising's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We are still waiting officially who exactly is the "contemporary cruiser". Trying to figure out if my two young adult children, who are experienced cruisers, fall into this category. I think not so since they do appreciate the broadway style shows, will not go to the new game shows, would appreciate a Twisted Tea or Mikes, and most of all absolutely love the Vibe. -

Dining and entertainment reservations
vacation44 replied to realnice46's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I agree it is tight, but once we were in and out of either Taste or Savior (I do not remember which) in less than a half an hour, with no dessert ordered. -
I also have memories of my dad leaving tip money for the hotel housekeepers in the 70's. And then in the 80's when I started traveling with friends, we also left tip money in the hotel room as we were all brought up to do it.

Dining and entertainment reservations
vacation44 replied to realnice46's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
If you make reservations for dinner at 6:00 p.m. and then show reservations for 7:30 p.m., make sure you tell your server that you have a show reservation at 7:30 p.m. They will push dinner through for you. -
Encore: Ncl replacing canceled production show with game show

Please let us know who exactly is the "contemporary cruiser". -
Thank you for reminding me about your thoughts and experience from when you went to Q. I think based upon reading this months ago, my daughter and I decided to try it finally. My two children and their cousins are actually country fans now. They became country fans when they went upstate to college. They have also seen Jimmy Buffet many times when he played annually at the Jones Beach Theatre every summer and also have seen Zach Brown a few times. I think my daughter decided this was a different choice and experience to the regular specialty restaurants/Haven dinners. We are all eating at LaCucina and Ocean Blue also, plus one night my husband and I will be taking my sister and her husband to Cagneys while the young adults eat in Food Republic. So even if it does end up being a bust, the other nights should still be good. Plus all of the significant others are just thrilled to be included in our extended family trip.

FYI... Joy re-fit changes shown on deck plan now
vacation44 replied to Big Red 85's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Was still holding out hope this change would not happen............................. -
No, you do not need to get a visa.
-
We are two for two starboard while our cabin was on portside. This June we are staying on starboard, so I am sure we will end up docking portside!
-
Last September on the Jewel, our server in LaCucina offered to wrap up our pizza for us to take back to our cabin.

No firsthand experience in cold weather cruises and the Vibe, but I would expect the same benefits outlined above would apply to Iceland/Norway. -
We will be trying it for the first time this June on the Joy. We, in our opinion, do not have good bbq out in Eastern Long Island so I am hoping it will be decent for us.

Free Morning Coffee on Norwegian Encore?
vacation44 replied to Roses_Are_Red's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
What ship were you on? The Deck 8 coffee/pastry offering is set up by the bar on both portside and starboard. We bring our own Yeti's to fill. -
NCL just changed the itinerary for our cruise on the 27th.
vacation44 replied to justhappy's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
I also like the new itinerary better; however, that is a lot of scrambling for some that booked independent excursions. -

It is on my App for our cruise next month. We will not be attending. Bring back the shows.......... -
August disembarking in Vancouver, Airport timing
vacation44 replied to mjcatlvr's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Based on our experience last year taking a cab also, you will make it in plenty of time. We got to the airport so early, we actually had to wait two hours for the Alaska Airlines ticket counter to open. -
My update is from last March so please keep that in mind. When we got to the pier, they were still setting up the table outside as it was around 8:45 a.m. Someone walked us over to the carts and helped us put our luggage on them, then took us to the entrance all the way to the right (if you are standing facing the building). We went through security and sat in the Haven area which was basically about 50 chairs blocked off. There was water and orange juice available. A good hour later, the concierge came and got all of the Haven guests. Once inside the other part of the building, we lined up and very quickly checked in and got our cards and boarded. While the Haven waiting area is separate, it really is nothing impressive. I think my husband took pictures of it, I will ask him and try to post them.

This would also be a huge change for me too. I am looking forward to someone reporting back if they were able to apply new certificates to an existing reservation now. We have two cruises booked in 2025 (one with three cabins) and I was waiting to purchase the 2nd Certificates (and 3rd Certificates for another possible triple up promotion) next month while on the Encore. I really do not want to purchase eight new Certificates if I cannot apply them to these four cabins.
