  1. What did your cabin steward do (or not do) to earn the title “the worst”? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Not sure what Hotel HAL uses but the Wyndham Bayside has a shuttle bus available to the cruise ships even though it is literally across the street. The Wyndham is circled in this picture . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I agree with other posters. If I had a 10 am flight I would be sweating the weather and other issues the last 2 days of the cruise and worrying about this or that. If you are the type of person who won’t stress or worry about this for the last 2 days of your cruise then go for it.....but if you are the type that will be pressuring people on the gangway if the ship is an hour late...and creating stress for everyone you encounter -then do everyone else all a favor and take a later flight. If you can keep your frustration to yourself if things get delayed then go for it. I hate to be around people who plan tight connections and then stress out everyone in the area as they fret out-loud and get cranky with staff if delays occur. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I base my decision on the consequences of missing the flight. Are there more flights that day? Do you get stressed out easily? How will you react if the ship is delayed by 2 hours. If none of this would bother you - then go for it. I would say you have a 90% chance of making the flight
  5. Here is the answer I received from Tapatalk about the problem with not being able to log in and only fetch 20 topics From: @tapatalk.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 12:28 AM Cc: Tapatalk Support <support@tapatalk.com> Subject: Re: Tapatalk Feedback (Contact Us) - fa1097d3fe775939f9d9cb5ed6e26ced Thank you for contacting Tapatalk! 6. The retreat cabanas are protected from the wind, so they will more comfortable than being on an outside deck. Plus on the NS they have a hot tub in The Retreat which will offer a chance to get warm.
  7. You may find this spreadsheet helpful in your planning. I created it for a world cruise, but it will work for any cruise Cruise Cost Calculator
  8. Thanks for great reports. The drama about the service dogs is a shame. I love those giant steaks - what a treat!
  9. I checked in on the Eurodam Roll Call for their next cruise. Apparently the ships azipods got tangled up with some fishing lines and they are going to San Diego early to get them untangled. The ship may spend 2 nights in San Diego.
  10. Thanks for the clarification - learn something new every day! https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/23/~/the-jones-act-%26-the-passenger-vessel-services-act
  11. I just spotted the Eurodam sailing into San Diego at 6 PM on 28 April. Unusual to see a ship arriving at this time of day. I noticed that on the official San Diego port schedule she was not due into San Diego until tomorrow (29 April) and was supposed to be in Ensenada today for its Jones act stop as part of its Hawaii round trip. Does anyone know why the schedule changed? Here is a picture of the Neiuw Amsterdam heading south from San Diego and the Eurodam heading north into San Diego Bay (6 PM on April 28th)
  12. They are letting all vehicles in today. But ymmv on other days. Most Uber drivers know the right words and are aggressive enough to get in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I was at the Mariners lunch today on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Here is the toast they used. “There are good ships, and there are wood ships, The ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, And may they always be.” Some cruise directors probably sub “dam ships” for “friendships”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. A little added context here: Day 5 is a late departure (11pm) from Puerto V - so these days are usually movie nights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Since they no longer have a house band, hiring a singer now requires them to hire a band as well I bet that HAL is hoping that people will consider the BB King band a substitute for live main stage shows Its not Two dark nights on a 7 day cruise is not good and hopefully not a trend . There should be a live show every night. The planet earth show is nice, but i can watch you tube at home if i want nature TV
