  1. Have a look at the deck plans. The obstructed balconies are on deck 8. Most of them have slight obstruction downwards from the lifeboats below. There are a few cabins that overlook the promenade deck instead - Port side E414 to E432 and Starboard side E415 to E433. Some of these have extended balconies.

Note that the Premium Balcony cabins don't have bigger balconies, just a slightly bigger cabin with a small sofa instead of a chair.

Also note that Majestic is different from most Princess ships in that she's been designed for the Chinese market so less bars, less outdoor deck areas, karaoke rooms, more gaming areas, some different speciality restaurants. And Princess doesn't have the same level of amusements that Royal Caribbean has.

On the topic of more gaming area's any ideas on what they mean by the "gaming vista lounge"? Is it set out like the other Vista lounges or something else? Haven't found any pictures yet.

  2. Your proposal sounds reasonable. However, you say the software to implement the solution is not complicated. Are you sure? I can't see how they would be able to block those with unlimited beverage packages from using the Ocean Medallion system; or, that Princess would want to (they will be selling more than just beverages).

What's the 'solution'?... issue 'Package Beverage Cards' - with instructions they are to be used for their packages... and that beverages ordered using Ocean Medallion will be 'billable'. Simple!

Lol so you mean put a sticker on the medallion [emoji1]

  3. So this 6 nighter is perfect for a taste of Majestic to see if it is a ship we would do a repositioning on, also that it docks in Port Arthur as last time we drove there from Hobart.

This is the bit we are going to be watching with interest after doing Port Arthur on the Emerald. It was a pain with 3000pax I am sure it will be so much smoother with 3500 ;p

  4. Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Club Soda and Tonic Water are on the guns and therefore on the Soda & More package.

Cans of Sprite Zero, Root Beer and Fanta Orange, as well as cans of the gun options, are available for purchase a la carte or in the All-Inclusive Beverage Package.

Root Beer is also part of the soda & more package, you just get it by the glass not the can if you ask.

  5. No not the steering......I believe its to test the compass . We were on a Princess ship once and when leaving Lyttleton Harbour the Captain announced that the ship would do a 360 turn to check the instruments. Its an Insurance requirement and has to be done once a year .

Yep you are correct that is what was happening. Didn't make for a much more exciting departure from Melbourne though [emoji20]

  6. Our 14 year old daughter is asking whether there'll be an easter egg hunt and is wanting us to bring our own chocolate eggs - but I imagine they'll end up crushed before they get to the cabin! Do people usually bring eggs for Easter?

You could always bring the eggs on as part of your carry on if you are not flying in. Your cabin will be ready as soon as you board so you will be able to drop them off straight away once you get on. Either that or pick them up on your first port visit but I think you are doing a South Pacific island cruise so I am not sure what the selection would be like?

  7. Viewing Google Earth, as you zoom in, image date is shown along the bottom together with coordinates and altitude.

The date will often change as you zoom in as the images are taken at different altitudes and dates.:)

That will be why I don't get dates I don't have google earth installed, I am just viewing maps via google maps.

  8. If you are certain you want a GoPro Hero 5 then disregard the rest of this post.

Certainly not tied to a brand, just after something easy to use in multiple applications that is small and waterproof (had enough carrying stuff around these days). The GoPro fits the bill nicely even though it really isn't the best tool for all applications, if we find a decent price we would probably get one outside of a cruise but as others have mentioned OBC is the most likely candidate for purchasing one.

  9. After drowning and defuncting a cam-corder on a recent sailing trip, we just bought a G.P5 black,(not a session)from h norman for $428, with loads of goodies, 32 g sd card, selfie stick, plus some other worthless junk that we will break.

Good deal I thought. MMhhh :)

Sounds like a great deal, we have yet to go squeeze our local JB manager to see what price he can come up with.
