  1. Very cool. What ship? I ask because I'm wondering if it is a ship with Share onboard. If so it would be a good way to entice more folks to try that venue. Even if there is no Share onboard it is still a good marketing ploy and goodwill endeavor.

Our last trip on Emerald we had dinner for 2 as a perk (not a random like this though), however there was an * to let you know there is an additional surcharge of $10 for Share.

  2. If memory serves me right, full suites get priority over elites when it comes to the laundry.....:):):)

    Bob

Don't know about priority but they do have 2 big hoppers in the laundry where the bags first go, one is marked elite and the other suite/paid from memory. Same day service went somewhere else.

  3. The formal portraits in the Atrium with uncouth bogans in the backdrop hardly make for a decent portrait when you are seeing the unwashed in the background of a classy ship with you in your formal gear. I could go on but I think you get the point.

I don't recall seeing any bogans in any of our photos from the last package (either foreground or background) when we took the kids, unless I gather you are referring to us as the bogans standing behind our kids in the photos?

  4. You had me ready for new hearing aids...until you got to the price. $10K...yikes!!!

Unfortunately it only works for some people so even if the hearing aids are available they may do absolutely nothing [emoji20] For a lot of people it is just now a part of your life, at least in my case I know the cause and over time I eventually taught my brain to mostly ignore it or turn it down so I can hear conversations.

Never really been an issue at sea other than in noisy spaces but that is no different to anywhere else.

  5. Hi,

I have a few questions about alcohol on Princess. I'll be cruising in April and on the website they have 375ml bottles of alcohol available are we able to drink those while on-board, they were listed under the wines which I've seen mentioned many times but me and my wife don't drink much wine. Trying to decide if we will buy a drinks package, also on the website the price is listed as 79.60pp a day is that price correct?

Appreciate any help I haven't been on a cruise since 2000.

The small bottles listed on the website are for your use in the cabin just pre order if you would like to, i believe you can reorder on board if you need more :)

The drinks package was $59pp per day on our last cruise in Jan but the website has issue with the fact it is a US site and tries to convert everything from USD to AUD even if it is already in AUD..... Buy it on board, even though you are apparently only charged the correct amount if you pre purchase.

  6. Whilst we are not Elite, the coupe of times we have had a suite we have given the beers (neither of us particularly like beer) to our steward. They have been more than happy to ease our burden and remove the offending items, each time with a big smile :)

  7. Unlike the bars, the spa autotip is not mandatory. You can remove it by asking when you check out if you choose. The 15% for drinks is mandatory and cannot be removed.

True but unlike all the boutiques they conveniently add it on for you whether you want to tip them or not. They are so kind you don't even have to take up one of their services, just drop in and purchase a product from the front counter and the auto tip is added.

Mainly because the spa is run by a separate company hired by princess so they operate differently to the other areas.

  8. Only thing I can think of is cabin assignment. Elite parents and child traveling with Ruby grandparents. Elite child booked into grandparents cabin, now both cabins are Elite for Bar and laundry.

I didn't think having one Elite passenger in a cabin entitled the entire cabin to free laundry, I thought only the Elite member was entitled to free laundry? Though I think this is one benefit that should be granted to children once they reach elite.

  9. Is the menu any greater for those in suites.

Same room service menu for the suites though they can order of the MDR menu as well during the dinning room hours. There is an expanded breakfast menu for suites though, I think I have a pic somewhere.

    Here they are:

  10.

I do think that any Traditional Diners who try to eat Anytime Dining should be turned away. If they choose not to eat in the Traditional Dining Room they should do the buffet or one of the upcharge restaurants.

Interesting view. I guess those who choose traditional shouldn't make new friends whilst on board? Only choice to have dinner with new friends would be specialty restaurants or buffet I guess as they aren't welcome at anytime by the sounds of it?

  11. It was a sale that was running but has obviously finished now. My personaliser also shows that price now instead of the $99USD sale. So they are trying to tell us the package is now selling for $250USD on board? good luck with that, they argue about it at $99USD.

Guess it is worth buying on board now unless the price hike has already happened there as well, it was still only A$199 only a month ago so i will see what it is in 3 weeks.

  12. Hi all, we are new to Cunard but not cruising and would like to do a Pacific islands cruise in 2019 big days and wedding anniversary - if QE is going to be in that area is it likely that she will do the Pacific islands - thank you

Unfortunately not, the information we have received so far from our TA only lists 2 cruises to New Zealand and 3 to Tasmania. Departures will be shared between Sydney and Melbourne with itineraries due on the 14th of March. A Pacific islands itinerary would have been great but it looks like it hasn't made the cut this time.

  13. I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion. Studio portraits is not what we are after but then again for $199 we don't expect it. We have had the package on two previous cruises and for family photos of a holiday they are respectable quality for what we need and best of all I don't have to do anything but pick up the photos at the end of the cruise 😀

If we want professional portraits done we would go elsewhere. We have tried the platinum studio which did a pretty good job but more a fun family thing for us to do on holiday.
