  1. Every cruise I go on be it Carnival or RCCL or Celebrity I always bring my Hazelnut creamer with me. I get a box of 24 liquid creamers and they last the whole cruise.

Same! DH the coffee phreak has totally addicted me to hazelnut and for the last 2 cruises he/we packed those liquid individuals...in big ziplock baggies just in case of any leakage, tho so far they have held up really well.

  2. Carnival also gave $2 million for Harvey aid. As for USVI the U.S. Navy sent ships down there almost right away. State govs all the way up to VA are also sending aid and work crews to FL and who knows where else to help feed people, dig out and rebuild. There is always a LOT that goes on that we may never see or hear about at all.

  3. DH thinks that CCL has been tinkering with the website for the past several days. He started complaining several days ago about funny things happening when he was trying to view excursions under our booking. And then something else strange just a couple of nights ago.

  4. May I also suggest tipping your room steward a little extra right up front. We usually (depending on their attitude lol) ante up $10 when we first meet our steward and hope that that will give him or her a little extra incentive for the week ahead. It often makes them more congenial as well and we love to actually get to know the people that will be doing so much for us every day.

When you get good or excellent service in the MDR it is often bcs the head waiter is making sure that his/her team are doing their best....and with a genuine smile instead of maybe being nervous or even miserable. The first head waiter that we ever had in MDR actually became a very good friend during our cruise and we never lacked or had to wait too long for anything....and after a night or 2 it became very obvious to us that he was behind all of that. We have never had that same level of quality again but it allowed us to see how a good MDR wait team should operate.

  5. Try to get one below the Excursions Desk if you want Port side, or below the Guest Services desk if you want Starboard side. No noise from above. Try to avoid booking a cabin below the galley. Study the deck plans carefully before choosing.

    Thank you!!

  6. We have thought abt trying the cove balconies for the closeness to the sea as well. OP thank you for posting the Q and to everyone for every little detail of your responses. All that I have read before was they were by far more wet and noisy than serene. But now we may see if we can change our deck 7 balcony on the Breeze for a cove if any of the better locations are still available. Cruise is not until next spring so maybe there is still time.

  7. I totally agree with independent tours especially in San Juan. On our last visit there we found a tour bus about 5 minutes from the ship. We went left from the pier along the sea side of the main street. It was $10 or $15 each for at least a 2 hour tour around town, the driver was very flexible and considerate of our time (and very informative as well, just a great tour guide) and we had plenty of room on the very well air conditioned tour bus. Afterwards we still had plenty of time on our own to walk around and do some interesting shopping.

It's just ridiculous that any Carnival sponsored tour would almost cause anyone to miss the ship. That's why a lot of people pay the extra through Carnival, for the supposed security of getting back on time.

  8. Having cruised 3 times on RC mega ships we're both very happy that the Carnival Breeze will be our next. 4th time on that class, Breeze is our favorite. One problem with mega ships thus far has been a very limited number of ports that they can visit. For us the ship is not the only destination, we do like as much variety in our ports of call as we can get. Dream class may not be able to go everywhere either but the ship is certainly a major part of our destination :)

  9. Deck 8 way aft or way forward I would say. Aft facing cabins on the back of the ship are ofc more private but on the sides of the ship most cabins look down onto where deck 5 widens out. What I mean is that on deck 5 you can walk all the way around the ship and it isn't covered, and so you look down onto deck 5 and also people can look up at the balconies. The higher up you are above that the better. We had a balcony on deck 8 forward, like maybe just 10 or 12 from the very front and we felt a lot more private than we would have mid ship. About 2/3 of the way back on deck 5 there are also tables (covered by big umbrellas) on both sides of the ship, and on sea days they have a grill out or pig & anchor, starboard side just aft of the patio area, it can get a little noisy at those times. On the port side on deck 5 smoking is allowed in the patio area and I know that some people on deck 6 and 7 above that area have said that the smoke may carry up from there, but I don't know. I don't have a deck plan handy but if you want I can find a range of room numbers to avoid for any of those reasons. Or someone else may post that info as well. We absolutely loved the Breeze including deck 5 as well as our balcony room, don't want it to sound like we didn't :)

  10. Griff and OC I agree with you to a point but I believe that learning social responsibility and thinking about consequences needs to start being taught at a very young age. No one is perfect but when thoughfulness and self discipline are not strongly encouraged to begin with in very young minds then it can certainly carry through into the future in more thoughtless, radical and dangerous behavior.

Sorry for the long rant :o

  11. The title of this thread is VERY true bcs the absolute worst that I've ever seen as far as out of control kids was on Allure of the seas. And a lot of that was with parents standing right there. It is shocking to me sometimes how so many parents don't even seem to care and ofc that teaches the kids to not care. Yes I also put a huge part of the blame on the wasteland of TV, youtube and social media as well as all of the increasing 'entitlement' insanity that encourages not only out of control kids but even parents that should be teaching kids social responsibility instead of so much brainless self centered 'look at me look at me look at me.'

I may be going overboard with all of that but it's what this kind of idiotic 3 year old behavior leads me to.

  12. BREEZE no question :-) decor is so much more pleasing to me and staff are great. Can't really say more than anyone else has and I haven't been on the Dream since refurb, but have cruised on both and we decided on Breeze again for our next cruise... tho we are not looking forward to the long drive to TX and back to NC and we don't know anything about the port of Gakeston... but I do know that I didn't really care for cruisingvout of New Orleans. But other people don't feel the same way so.....
