  1. Mosquitoes "generally" come out at night. And certainly when the ship is moving I doubt you will ever see one. But I have to say the statement that you dont want to ever get bitten? thats seriously strange. Where do you live? Not trying to start anything but maybe thats really not what you meant? Apart from living in a bubble there is no way you will "never" get bitten in a warm climate such as the Carribean

  2. i'm on an october BA cruise and just wondering if this is still how the different shows are?

i guess which to choose is subjective though. :D

    Pretty much

the same, a kids show and 2 other shows that should be adult BUT, I do know one of them ended up being pg-13 because there were kids in the audience

  3. LuckyinPa we had Gian on our trip Aug 21st BUT I can only assume they rotate around since we were in a 2BR - but He WAS /is a wonderful Butler! Do you have all your plans set for your trip? I bet you are getting excited now! We ( my husband) and I are going back in a month to Bermuda - on the Dawn this time.

  4. Egads! You can keep the singing and dancing waiters on Carnival. I don't need the waiter to be my best friend or my entertainment. Just want them to, er, be my waiter.

My feelings exactly! Honestly the NCL experience isnt for everyone and from what I have read about that ship is in need of drydock and fortunately itr IS going into drydock summer of 2017

  5. no trays - just plates around the area , cups etc. The silver wear is already on the tables. I suggest finding a table first , put something on it that shows you are there (the staff is on the ball and if they see a table empty they may take away your stiff thinking you are gone) or have someone sit there taking turns. It really isnt hard t grab what you want and return, never had an instance where we felt like we are juggling

  6. Kendra was like "Oh great, you have great weather all week there and I'm on my way to that!" I immediately decided to check the weather. I could tell that all of a sudden it wasn't as hot as it had felt about an hour before.

But, it was still fairly warm. 8am in the morning with predicted thunderstorms the rest of the day. It did start to sprinkle a little, but nothing major. With clouds like this, you would have thought it would be a downpour. The rest of the day didn't look promising either.

Thank goodness we were going to be away from here this following week. It didn't look promising. At least when we returned the following Sunday, the weather was supposed to clear.

Kendra said they were boarding the second plane and the last text she sent me said they were taking off. At least I knew she had made it and was on her way. I had about 4+ hours to fret before she arrived and that also meant 4+ hours of peace and quiet too.

I woke the family up and we decided to head out for some breakfast. It had stopped sprinkling as quickly as it started, which is good since we were walking.

Back to McD's we went. I know, not the authentic PR breakfast, but it was cheap and cheap is good.

    There's that "large" coffee again.

A trip to the restroom before we headed back to the hotel and I found something else all bathrooms should be equipped with!

Now I KNOW you are stressed about school!! Thats not McD's :D

  7. I would definitely suggest rooms that connect ! and I hope you have a comprehensive Travel Insurance plan! I would hate to see anything happen and be stuck with really large medical bills. I so applaud you taking him, it is hard in even good circumstances to take care of an elderly parent, been there with my Dad. If you dont have them there are removable bed rails that may help him stay put a bit longer as opposed to no rails, they just slide under the mattress and if you cant get an adjoining room that may delay or prevent a fall a bit longer to allow you to get out of your room, slide the card and get into his room,

  8. And this is why I can never find a accessible balcony room for my daughter.

I SO want to make a comment right now supporting you! But I typed up my first response and I knew I would be flamed so keeping my mouth shut. I hope a room opens up for you and your DD !! Frankly I would escalate this issue at NCL .. Not good PR for denying a handicapped person if rooms have been booked by not handicapped

  9. Anyone ever hear of these exotic invasives that we are battling in Chicago?

Zebra Mollusk, Emerald Ash Borer, Asian Carp, Non-native Buckthorn, Asian Longhorn Beetle and many many more. But of course these were were no big deal when a ship discharged its ballast that contained the mollusk into Lake Michigan, or the shipping pallets that had the Longhorned Beetle larvae in the wood, so many problems occur when one mite, seed or individual pest makes its way into local ecosystem.

Thank you!! I was going to post many of the same issues you are having in Chicago! Unfortunately the beetle came to our forests in NH via camping firewood from other states and it has been decimating our forests!! The Milfoil is choking our lakes now that is carelessly brought on boat propellers with people that dont care enough to clean the bottoms of their boats.. Sorry stepig off the soap box now

  10. While I agree with nearly all you say, not all ship's water is made by flash evaporation (and flash evaporation is still boiling, just at a lower temperature by reducing the pressure). Depending on the ship's itinerary, it may not have sufficient time at sea to make all the water needed, so some is loaded in port. Also, in addition to evaporators, most ships produce a portion of their fresh water by reverse osmosis, which generally produces in the 0-20ppm range.

chengkp75 - Out of curiosoity (yep i have killed the cat) and believe me I dont want to start anything here! I sailed on the Breakaway a few weeks ago and or room steward started bringing us a pitcher of water everyday , he said the "filtered" water was better than the water out of the faucet? Should we be drinking the water only that is filtered -ie at the dispensers at the buffets - or is the faucet water still ok to drink -? I know there are NO signs displaying that source as un-potable but I always thought it was from the same source ?

  11. Good write up. My wife and I are sailing on the Breakaway in 40 days.

Not that we watch a ton of TV while cruising do you recall the channel lineup on the Breakaway? I like watching TV before bed and we're also going to be gone during the middle of the college football season. I'm a little "worried" about missing a specific game. If we can't watch it in the room hopefully one of the bars will carry it.

There was 1 channel of favorite"movies" and 1 of "series" 1 sports channel but I believe that was Football(soccer) couple of news channels and a bunch of informational channels . but I am not an american football fan but everyplace I saw was Soccer - even in the restaurants on the island!!

  12. It's been a while since we have sailed on NCL, we have the Platinum Latitudes 7 Day Ultimate Dining Package on our upcoming cruise. Is there a difference between what we have and the 7 day SDP or are they the same with different names?

Those are different things , you must have booked last year some time or earlier. I believe that allows you to go to any restaurant and have as much as you want ie entrees ( those are limited to 1 entree with the SDP) But I am sure someone on here will correct me =

  13. It is very good - my son had our butler bring it to the cabin twice on our last cruise. Since we had the UDP on that trip there was no charge. This next trip we have the SDP so I guess we will see if there is a fee or not because I'm pretty sure he'll want to have it again.

I did sneak a few bites and I'm pretty sure it was dark chocolate.

I know that we had a small charge for an extra Creme Brulee brought to our room one night, I think it was like 4.00 I know it was less than 5 for sure! We had the UDP BUT I dont believe we were charged for it , so slipped an extra bit for that to Gian

  14. my gf has verizon prepaid. i cannot find for sure i this works for prepaid as well?

we are not heavy phone users but if i can have access to info on the island for 10 bucks id do it.

Best way to do it is to call verizon thay can tell you if you can do it

  15. So let me get this straight.

    1 kid...

    2 hot tubs...

    closed for 2 days?

Something stinks in Denmark. Did the kid stop mid-poop and run from 1 hot tub to the other to finish his business? Also it does not take 2 days to disinfect a tub.

I call BS on this one.

Umm really? are you saying I am lying????? EXCUSE ME Have you ever been to Bermuda ? IF so you would KNOW that ships ARE NOT allowed to discharge anything including hot tubs water .. so YES they were closed untill we were out of Bermuda water, then cleaned and disinfected.

  16. We were in the haven last week on the Breakaway to Bermuda (8/21-8/28) There were many families there BUT what was disappointing to me most was the hot tubs being closed for 2 days while in Bermuda because some lovely parent let their young UNDIAPERED CHILD in the hotub and oops they forgot that tubs werent for excrement. and yes this could have happened at any of the hot tubs ... it just stunk that it happened - I believe any person should have the chance to "live the suite life" We have 3 boys - 21, 19 and 16 the 19 and 15 year olds slept in the 2nd bedroom and while the room was tight for dressing they just took turns or came into our room to shower etc. The 21 yo stayed on the couch . Plenty of room for us all
