  1. There is a restaurant with plenty of food options. You can find the Live 11/27 thread with DougOut that he posts during his current cruise a menu. We were the first ship/cruise that was on HC (our 11/11/2016 sailing) and the zip lines weren't accessible that day. I would guess there would be someone taking photos for a fee.

  2. She'll kill me for posting this, but this was how she napped on the Breakaway last summer... spread out between the two deck chairs.

I'd kill you too AND gummy bears wouldn't do............however, there are plenty of jewelry options with vibrant colors that might get you surviving this!

  3. We just came off the Dawn and had the UBP. We were charged the 18% gratuities ahead of time and I was fine with that. However, friends we met weren't, but were charged gratuities for each beverage purchased even though they had an UBP also. Thought it was odd there were two different ways of charging gratuities for the package.

  4. Heading to the main theater show (the Ukrainian aerialist, I believe) at 7pm and then LeBistro at 8:30pm.

If I hadn't mentioned earlier, we're sticking to "ship time" all week, which is currently 6:30pm. Apparently they were running into issues with the frequent 1-hour changes a couple weeks ago.

  5. Make sure you try the made-at-table guacamole at Los Lobos. The food there is great.

DITTO this!!!!!!!! Just came off the 9-day that left on Veterans Day. Went to Los Lobos twice for their guacamole and didn't even have the UDP. Tried guacamole two different places in Mexico and the ships was by far the BEST! Even hubby ate it and he's normally only a salsa guy. Enjoy!!!!!

  6. I will be on the Pride in March with my 22 year old DD who has a peanut allergy. We cruised last March on the Victory and I wasn't very impressed with the knowledge of some of the crew about safe food choices. She managed ok but I would feel better with more knowledgeable crew. We are looking forward to our cruise and wanted to know if anyone with a peanut allergy has been on the Pride and and can share their experience.

I also have a life threatening peanut allergy. I was on the Carnival Pride and the chef had the waiter give me the menu for the following night. Chef wouldn't even allow me to request something with tree nuts, even though my allergy is legumes/peanuts only. They are amazing, BUT you must tell Carnival AND the Maitre'd upon arrival.

  7. In closing I would like to thank everyone who followed along and was also able to tune in to my Periscope broadcasts when I was able to do so.

I would also like to politely remind some that this is my vacation and I am willing to give up some of it to do these type of reviews and broadcasts. A few still don't seem to understand that and demand that I show them stuff or get them the info they want. Remember, asking nicely goes a long way. Demanding or getting impatient gets you nowhere.

Also even though I stated at the beginning that I was well aware of the voom issues a couple of people still felt the need to remind me how bad it was and it was the only post they made on the entire review which made me feel like they had no desire to follow along. Please if this is the only thing you have to say on one of my reviews, just keep it to yourself. Thank you.

With those minor gripes aside, LIVE from Liberty of the Seas has concluded. The next adventure will be on Harmony of the Seas, April 22nd.

    Until next time...... ;) :D

I enjoyed the info you shared and all the periscope I could be a part of. We leave Friday's on our cruise and it gave me even more excitement! I look forward to watching your Harmony trip! Thank you and yes, this was a lot of work and I for one am grateful you took time away from your vacation to do so!!!!!

  8. I will be sailing to Cozomel and Progresso from Mobile, AL in April 2017. As this will only be my second cruise Im a little concerned with the possibility of rough seas. Someone had told me the water in the Gulf of Mexico tends to be a little choppy and rough at certain times. Can anyone offer any insight on this?

I've sailed many times from the east coast with waters rather calm. Now comparing that to the cruise coming back via the west coast. That was choppy waters coming back up Baja California.

  9. We love the sea days too and some of our favorite times have been when everyone else gets off the ship in port. Feels like our own private ship. I do wish they would leave the dining room open on port days though.

Me too!!!! I traveled with my parents years ago and they did leave the dining room open at sea days. It was like a private dining room!!!!

  10. As mentioned above, you dined at the same table and same guests. On our first cruise aboard the Norway a very long time ago, the table was 10 chairs.

If you didn't like the guest you were seated with, you just asked and they moved you quickly.

I think the best parts of dining back then was you had the same waiter every day, for every meal and everyone dressed very nice for dinner. Men in collared shirts/tie and women wearing dresses. Even the kids dressed each night.

Having the same waiter for each meal is something I wish they would do today.

Back then, your waiter would get a feel of your likes and dislikes in the first day.

For example, he knew our daughter loved watermelon so with each meal, he would bring her watermelon and each time it would be in different shapes. One meal in round ball, another in stars, one day he made a Pooh bear face on a flat piece. Our daughter was 8 years old and felt like she was a princess.

Her birthday happened on this trip and our waiter found out thru our table mates. He arranged for everyone to stop serving and whole dining room sang happy birthday to her.

The Captain and Concierge would make their rounds each night to each table during dinner service.

Every afternoon was coffee/tea and fresh baked cookies.

You didn't have fighting for pool chairs or people creating huge islands with chairs in pool area. You could actually pass thru easily.

Back then, the buffet wasn't a big deal. Most ate in dining room.

Cabins were much bigger. The doors going outside on the Norway were wood and you had to step up and over the lip. Just like you would see on military ships in movies.

You stayed dressed for the shows after dinner.

The kids had a dance area at night after the shows. They could dance, play games or just visit. They would serve small snacks and each night before closing, they would have a chocolate desserts.

While the kids did their thing, most adults would meet in a huge cocktail area and mingle.

Back then, smoking was allowed everywhere. That was the worse part.

tipping was done in cash and using an envelope.

It may have cost more back then but was well worth it.

You felt like royalty when you went home. From inside to suite, no was was treated any differently. Not saying they do that today but there was a whole different feel back then.

I remember a lot of this well as I was a fortunate child who got to cruise with her parents. The kids dance night was SO much fun! Even though smoking was allowed all over (and I am not a smoker and actually can't stand the smell) they were respectful back then. I do miss a lot of what you posted. Things have definitely changed for cruising and so much more!!!
