  1. Haha I know! it was kinda weird and I knew it was a silly question but since I saw on ne of the earlier responses there were flights cancelled to and from, I htought I should better ask.

    thanks!

Definitely not a silly thing to be concerned about your flights, whatever the reason. :) Hope you enjoy your cruise, I'll be landing in SJU as you sail away - assuming that DFW isn't going through another ice storm.:p

  2. If he has to fly in day of, general rule for me is a flight arriving no later than 4 hours before time required to be on the ship (90 minutes before schedule departure), but since FLL is a little farther away I would add 30 minutes to that rule.

Best advice is fly out on the earliest arriving flight, preferably non-stop, that he can, that way if there are delays, issues etc he still has some leeway.

Is there any particular reason for flying into FLL instead of MIA? Are you assuming it's cheaper? Make sure to check flight prices into MIA because sometimes it's the less expensive option and since it is a little closer to port....

  3. So are you flying BA to LHR? If so, then no worries on checking through as BA will definitely check all the way through to AA. If it's Flybe to LGW, then the bags will only be tagged to LGW and you'll have to retrieve your bags and then recheck in at LHR with AA (hope you've got at least 4 hours for this connection).

  4. Hello,

I live in Mexico City so I am not familiar at all with flights cancelled or delayed because of weather conditions. The thing is that I have a flight Cancun - Fort Lauderdale - San Juan in January 8 for my January 11 cruise out of SJ. Should I be worried?

I hope not but I am already worried tbh.

    Thanks for any advise

Absolutely no worries about winter weather in Ft. Lauderdale. If winter weather were to affect that flight schedule, we'd probably be in the end of days.

  5. Unfortunately on my Jewel cruise in April we got to experience a Charlie, Charlie, Charlie alert before we even got to board the ship. When they were loading supplies onto the ship one of the dogs hit on a pallet. They got a 2nd dog and it hit too which led to a sudden evacuation of the ship and the cruise terminal. Turned out to be 3 broken bottles of liquor. Joke going through the entire ship once we finally got to board was that they got the liquor sniffing dogs confused with the bomb sniffing dogs.

  6. Depends on the airport and the class you are flying. If its a basic economy ticket, usually there aren't. For business/first if flying international there may be somewhere to sleep in those lounges but not always.

Some airports have hotels where you can buy a sleep cube/room by the hour, some have hotels attached to some terminals but those usually require you to go landside.

  7. I was watching this and AA issued waivers in advance (so did other airlines, but AA is most affected with a hub at DFW). This is the kind of storm that would've had me changing my flight to Thursday and getting out ahead of the storm. Note: I haven't been able to get out of my neighborhood since Friday so even if flights had been going from my local airport (only a few have been) I couldn't even get there, much less to DFW.

Unfortunately I've been in airports watching people see their last chances to make it to their cruise go by. It's not a pretty sight.

  8. Is the Flybe flight a codeshare with BA? On the way to San Juan how long is your layover in Miami?

Most likely Flybe will be able to tag your bags all the way through to San Juan. When you get to Miami, you will go through immigration, then baggage claim, then customs. After that, there will be a place to drop your already tagged bags back off. Note if your layover here is more than 12 hours Flybe may only be able to tag your bags to MIA, in that case you would have to get your bags retagged here.

On the return, AA will tag your bags all the way through to Newcastle and you won't see them again until there.

  9. In St. Maarten the compass will say 8am ship time arrival, and approx. 8:30am gangway opening. I had a 9am local time excursion:eek: so was up early with the plan of being at the gangplank waiting to second it opened. Well when I went to breakfast at 7am we were already docked and the gangplank was already open.

St Thomas it was about 10am ship time when when the gangplank was open. I know I was on the pier by about 10:15am

  10. We did that on our Celebrity cruise last year and I really don't understand how Ensenada could be considered a "distant foreign port" but Canada is not?

    Sherri:)

In a round trip cruse you only need a foreign port, not a distant foreign port, so a stop in Mexico (or Canada) works for a round trip.

  11. Without a 24 hour stop over in Vancouver, your itinerary is illegal. Don't bank on anything that a TA tells you without written documentation from the cruise line or US CBP.

    David

No it's not illegal. Seattle to Sydney is a perfectly legal itinerary - no overnight in Vancouver is required.

  12. Bob, for some reason I don't understand! If I went from Vancouver to Hawaii that's illegal?

    No, it's fine.

Simply put there are different cruise types allowed under the PVSA.

    1) cruise beginning and ending in same US port - has to stop at any foreign port (or be a cruise to nowhere)

    2) a cruise between a US port and and a non-US port. Completely fine as is

    3) a cruise between two different US ports. Has to stop at a distant foreign port as defined under the law.

A cruise between Vancouver and Hawaii is covered under #2. As is the OP's proposed Seattle to Sydney itinerary.

  13. Just the first two wouldn't be allowed due to the PVSA (not the Jones Act, that applies to cargo). But all three together should be perfectly legal since it would be considered a cruise between a US port and a non-US port.

The distant foreign port requirement would only come into play if the cruise began and ended in 2 different US ports, which taken all together this trip doesn't.

Oh and nationality has nothing to do with whether it would be legal.

  14. I asked how long to wait to see them show up, and they told me to call this week if they didn't. I'll be calling today or tomorrow.;)

To add, mine are showing correct as of this afternoon, were still incorrect this morning.

I think you called the same evening I did, so check now and if they aren't corrected I would call.

And I'm off to look for the cruise that will make me D+:D

  15. Just wondering the opinion of others on how long it took for your account to reflect missing points; not talking about waiting for a recent cruise to post, but incorrectly tabulated points.

My C&A points were posted incorrectly and I contacted C&A. They readily agreed that a mistake had been made and it would be corrected. This took place a number of days ago and no change to my account still.

If anyone has had experience having a correction like this made please chime in and let me know how long you had to wait before you saw your update.
