  1. We finally had a reply back over the weekend offering us the standard £50 per person OBC, it was either that or a free cancellation. Well we didn't want to cancel so we accepted but it is nowhere near the 5% which would be £265 for our cruise. It seems that a lot of people have been conned by P&O and somehow I don't think we have heard the last of it. The travel trade newspapers have been on the case so a friend of mine has said so who knows where it will end!

  2. This is what it says on one of the cruises I booked

"New guests booking this cruise on Select Price will receive a 5% saving if booked before 3 December 2018. Discount has been reflected in prices below. Past guests booking this cruise on Select Price will receive a 10% discount if booked before 3 December 2018. Discount taken from full fare and will be applied at checkout."

Not sure I quite understand it. However, my cruise is now £400 pp more than it was when I booked. So if I take off 10% that's £360

Jean that wording is the new wording not the old before they changed it

  3. Hi all,

Just emailed P/O and Christopher Edgington directly. Booked Azura 2020 2 weeks ago should have got 10% only got 5 % I rang them an hour after initial booking to query this and reply was 5% already discounted message even though I booked before they changed the wording.

I will update soon on outcome.

    Thanks Mark

I emailed his office last night and got a reply back this morning from a member of his team saying he had requested them to investigate. Can't expect much more over the weekend I suppose. I think Strawberry field was very lucky yesterday with the timing etc. Will let you know when I hear back.

  4. I did the same as you and emailed customer services and then received the auto reply saying it could be 28 days before I got a reply. I wasn't really happy with that and after reading another post earlier today decided to email a copy of the email I had sent to customer services to Christopher Eddington with an explanation of why I was sending it to him.

By the way I accidentally clicked the button to befriend you and I haven't a clue what it is! Please ignore the request :)

Which email address did you use?

  5. I have just telephoned P&O after booking a cruise earlier this week and was told the old story about 5% being taken off before the price was advertised on the website. I asked her to check with her team leader and they said the same. They said if I'm not happy then my only option is to write to customer services and they would forward it to their legal department. What a waste of time that would be as they never answer anyway. I have two cruises booked with P&O with three already done and this leaves a bad taste in the mouth and in future will seriously shop around before booking P&O again. Then after shopping around probably still book with P&O as they suit us:o:)

Same here, I also telephoned this morning and was told that they couldn't do anything over the phone I had to write in, so I have emailed again and at least got an acknowledgement of receipt saying it can take up to 28 days. For me it is not the cost involved but it is the principle of the matter, if P&O advertise something that is misleading then they should honour everyone who has been affected.

  6. Ok let me put it this way...

On 3/9 the price screen price for my cruise was £5318. When I booked on 20/9 it was still £5318 they only gave me an additional 5% off that for past guest saying that 5% had already been included in the £5318. Today the price is still £5318....... Not gone up not gone down, how much would you expect to pay as a past guest??

  7. We have booked for Britannia and the base price quoted at pre reg was £5318 for 2 pax. Reading the various mail shots both online and through the post we were led to believe that there would be 10% past guest discount but no they only gave us 5% off saying the other 5% had already been taken off to make the base price £5318. Having just checked on the website it is still the same price.

  8. When I did a dummy booking a couple of weeks ago everything was as expected.

There was a base 'from' price quoted for cabin types when I clicked 'more details'.

Once I started the 'book now' process the price reduced by either 5% or 10% dependant upon whether I entered our Peninsular Club numbers or not.

Not sure if anything has changed since but, assuming not, I don't see what the problem is - you only see the full price on the opening screen and then the correct discounts are applied.

Not according to my invoice from P&O, the screen price already has 5% applied to it then they give you another 5%. If you are booking a Peninsular Club cruise then you get a further 5%.

  9. 5% booking discount is applicable to all new guests making a new Select Price booking from our new summer 2020 collection before 3 December 2018. [The summer 2020 collection relates to all applicable cruises sailing from 2 April 2020.] This discount is additional to Select Price benefits and is not applicable on Early Savers. We reserve the right to withdraw the offer in whole or on individual cruises at any time.

10% booking discount is applicable to past guests making a new Select Price booking from our new summer 2020 collection before 3 December 2018. [The summer 2020 collection relates to all applicable cruises sailing from 2 April 2020.] This discount is additional to Select Price benefits and is not applicable on Early Savers. This is from the T & C on their website. No mention that the shown website price is already discounted by 5%.

Exactly! - no mention of it until you go to book with them. My TA made 3 telephone calls to them querying the price and it wasn't until the 3rd time when it was all broken down and explained how it worked. That is why it is misleading!

  10. Hi yes that is correct. The 5% new passenger discount has already been taken off the price before showing on the screen so any new passengers will just pay the screen price. For us past guests we have already had the new passenger discount then P&O give us another 5% to make it the 10%. It is very misleading on all of the communications from them and I have told them so. Still happy with the price though we have booked Britannia for September 2020. Hope you have a great time on Iona.
