  1. It appears from your response that you could not hear noise from the lounge at all, is that correct?

Yes. Noise was absolutely a non-issue last year for us. YMMV.

Repo cruise, demographic skews older people like us (50s), so music selection & hard late night partying in Bliss may not be quite as intrusive as other itineraries.

I read about a noise problem in another thread for aft balconies on Deck 8 Dawn, which were right around the corner from us. Surprised to hear how different their decibel experience was from ours.

  2. Dawn Repo Boston-NOLA 2016.

Did NOT show Pats' blowout of Bills on first Sunday of the trip; I thought there was gonna be a revolt. Some BS game like Lions or something.

2nd Sunday was Pats' Bye week, so the bartenders & Customer Service were spared.

Repo Boston-SJ 2017 lucks out also, as week 9 (Nov 5) is again Pats' Bye week.

  3. Pending is when they are in the process of finalizing the room and deck. Mostly looking were they have rooms to upgrade from other bids who might be upgraded to higher suites. I haven't seen any posts from anyone who is pending and Not received an upgrade.

This is just flat out wrong. Incorrect. Wrong wrong WRONG.

Sorry, I know you're trying to be helpful, but this post is misleading and misinformed.

  4. But we received an updated itinerary. And cruises are already using San Juan as a home port.

See, That is new & relevant information, beyond the fact that you booked a cruise scheduled to embark from SJ> which is all your original post contained.

Bolsters our confidence that we can leave our flight/lodging/car reservations in place.

We also received (today) the updated email for Dawn stating that SJ is disembarkation; ports of call TBA.

  5. Dawn Repo last year. Got to be pals with some ChiCub AND Tribe fans.

ZERO televised WS games. As a BoSox diehard, my heart bled for fans of both teams.

Lots of soccer though. Lots. Soccer. Euro Soccer. Yeah. Oh, you like soccer? 'Cause we got your soccer RIGHT HERE!!

I know, I'm not going on a cruise to watch TV. But I swear, if I had embarkation scheduled right before the 2004 Series, I would have manufactured some medical emergency to have my travel insurance kick in if I knew there would be no broadcast on board.

  6. Is the prez running our cruise now?

"Mr. President, where are we going? When will we know our itinerary?"

"Oh you'll find out soon enough, that I can tell you.

And the ports you'll be visiting are better than any ports ever visited in the last, long.... period of time. Probably the greatest itinerary ever, in the entire history of the cruise industry. Believe me"

  7. Did you email them about not hearing about your upgrade? .

    No no.

I have no problem not hearing about an upgrade until 48 hours before sailaway. Clearly stated in T&Cs.

I have MAJOR issues with ZERO substantive updates regarding ports of call, and particularly port of debarkation>>with only three weeks to go until embarkation from Boston. Unkept promises about when we would be provided new information. Widely varying replies to CC members who phoned in. Even something as simple as "Here's what know now, here's what still needs to be resolved, which will be by (fill in date)". That was the basis for my email diatribe to customer service.

'Bonette thinks venting was a bad move as far as potential upgrade goes. Inadvertent consequence. Happy with my current stateroom.

But I wanted my tiny little voice heard so they understand how I feel. I know they know, but I needed to unload.

    F* 'em

  8. Finally got a reply from hotel (Verdanza), Closed until December, told me to cancel with online TA I used .

Rebooking AA flight from Mon to Sun would have cost an additional $200/pp; my insurance won't cover because common carrier will not be closed on 11/13/17. Way cheaper to find & reserve a new hotel even though I no longer want to spend a post-cruise day in PR. Large online TA has been no help at all.

  9. Right now, there's a big price spread between picking your cabin and a guarantee.

Factor in that the Guaranty (or "SailAway") price 'spread' includes $0 value for perks on Gty (denoted by _X on room types) vs. You Select Cabin....

Bev pak, Specialty Dining, Wifi, Excursions, etc. If you want any of those, you'll be paying for them>> no promos included>>which in the case of UBP is prohibitive.

  10. Called today and supposedly we should hear this weekend.

Were you told that by the same Customer Rep who said we'd know in 2 weeks 18 DAYS AGO!!

NCL, we understand the level of complexity in resolving our Repo>>much more difficult than some round-trip cruises leaving before OR after us.

    But SAY F***ING SOMETHING!

It's that you're leaving us hanging, wondering, that is starting to generate ill-will toward a line many have been happy with previously.

A new customer is much more expensive to cultivate than retaining a current customer.

  11. Did you speak to Janice? She is a supervisor

I spoke to Supervisor Janice and was not satisfied with her answer, so she bumped me up to Division Manager BillyBob.

He told me, unequivocally, that the 75 call threshold had been increased to 275 calls, or an equivalent number of emails.

I fully expect that NEW target will be progressively ratcheted upwards conjointly with our frustration.

  12. there was one hidden good coffee dispenser on the Pearl, near the children's dining area in the buffet. It actually gave good coffee. Is there a similar one on the Dawn somewhere?

Yes, but there is ONLY ONE.

You will feel a sense of personal accomplishment & pride discovering it on your own, rather than just being handed the secret location of caffeine awesomeness by a random CC board contributor.

  13. I was very dissaponted in the Dawn And NCL just last week!

When walking down an inside corridor on Dawn I pop open an ash tray that's built into the wall to find it 1/2 full of decade old cigarette butt's.

I find it So Nasty that After Two refurbishment's they still have not emptyed the dang ash tray's. :(

I don't smoke, so I can't distinguish how long a cigarette butt has been in an ashtray.

What's the tipoff that a butt has been there for an hour, a day, a week, a year?

    A DECADE?! Now I'm offended.

What do we think could be happening with the urinals??

NCL is constantly striving for new & creative ways to piss us off.

  14. I wouldn't assume current Western itineraries will remain unaffected. There are a lot of moving parts to consider, both within a particular line and between competing lines. For instance, NCL may prefer to have one of its larger ships swap days at a particular port based on bringing in another smaller ship originally slated for an E.Caribbean stop. I understand a limited number of "port stop inventory" availability, maximizing passenger excursion use, etc. I would love to find out the communication & cooperation (or lack of) between lines-- concessions, agreements, quid pro quos, and so on. The logistics are mind-boggling.

LOTS of variables, so my guess is that nothing is in stone right now, including existing W.Caribbean itineraries.
