  1. I was there last Friday. Plan on writing a brief review this weekend.

Nice, but not as nice as HMC. Didn't expect it to be, since I consider HMC to be a true island paradise!

Still, had a nice day there and wouldn't hesitate to book an itinerary that included a stop there.

looking forward to your review as I am there shortly if it still there.

  2. Windawn, I've been too vague. I appreciate your question as to what the heck I'm talking about. If you open the Cruise Critic page, there are several pull down menus at the top:

Reviews - Find a Cruise - Deals - Destinations - How to Cruise - News.

If you hover over "Deals" , there's an option at the bottom of that menu for "PRICE DROP". On the Price Drop page, you can customize your search.

    I

Thank you Silent Penguin didn't know this existed now I will have to check it out when I have a cruise booked.

  3. Hi all! We're cruising on the Elation on Nov 27th. We have an ocean view booked but are hoping they turn our room into a balcony during the current dry dock they're doing now. Anyone ever gotten that lucky? If so, were you charged any more since you paid for ocean view and now have a balcony? Thanks in advance!

that would be really cool if it did happen to work out like that. I haven't seen anywhere that they are adding balconies to the Elation. One thing you could do is check future sailings and see if your cabin is a balcony in the future.

  4. I wish we had a comprehensive list! I am on another forum for Charleston/Ecstacy and have seen a few places mentioned, including Hampton Inn and Quality Inn near Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant. Any of the hotels near Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant should be safe, nice, and they are close to good places to eat and things to do the night before.

I will look into those I didn't see them listed on the CVB site. Thank s for the heads up. I am going to check with the hotel that provided us this service last time which was the Sleep Inn in Mt Pleasant and see if they still have this available.

  5. OP I can only imagine what a tough spot you are in. I am going to play a bit of devil's advocate here, how much would this affect the family relationship? Would your Grandma be upset if you canceled their cruise? Would it cause a lot of heart ache at the next family gathering? These are questions you must ask. You have to honest in answering these because they could have a huge impact in the family dynamics from here on out.

If you decide to keep them on you do need to talk to them and lay down the law about what is expected payment back is required. The first thing I would do either at embarkation or once you are the ship is move them to their own sail and sign account. Make sure they know this before you leave for the port. Also if they do go, you will have to let the rest of this go while on the cruise so you can have a good time, if not it will just eat you up until a blow up happens and this is never good.

  6. OP I can understand where you are coming from, My DW doesn't drink as much as I would so the drink package doesn't make sense for her. She may have 2 drinks a day. There are those who would buy the one drink package if available and share the drinks with their other cheating the system. I am not sure I could drink 15 drinks on a day but between the both of us we would get close. Carnival is looking at the same numbers

  7. It really does come down to supply and demand. A few years ago Carnival had a larger ship in San Juan but was having trouble selling cabins and they would rock bottom the price to locals to fill the ship. Also at this time it was very costly to fly to San Juan for most travelers in the US. Carnival took the larger ship out and placed it where it could do other runs in the US that were more profitable. So they moved a ship that really should be running these short runs that they now have larger ships making. So now Carnival runs with a mostly full ship without having to rock bottom the price.

  8. Pack whatever you might need in the first couple of days. Quick and easy of this is I was on a cruise in Europe and the airline lost my luggage. No biggie you say but kept in mind all you have is shorts it is tough to go see the Vatican in shorts. I spent the first couple of hours getting some pants and they don't come hemmed. Missed some things I wanted to see.

  9. Did you even read what you responded to? I said it was fine. No bashing going on. Regardless, the other cruise line is taking the same action. Again, this is the industry. This is the standard of service. The lesson to learn is to assign expectations with this.

Yes I read what you posted and first you are miss informed the Breeze comes in the same as RCI and Carnival is already taking care of those passengers. So your wait and see argument is null and void. So right now Carnival's standard of service is above your standard of service. So where should someone put their expectations with Carnival who has stepped up or RCI who hasn't?

  10. "Haters gonna hate."

I think people are just stressed about the circumstances and emoting. It's fine as long as it's kept in perspective

People may be stressed about what is happening but they have right to feel the way the do because that is their perspective. No need to bash them for how they feel. I would be upset if other cruise lines were taking the action that Carnival has even for the Sunday sailings.

  11. Carnival's turnovers are Saturday and Royal Caribbean's are Sunday, so the announcement that you're praising Carnival for having made today would not be expected from Royal Caribbean tomorrow. People were saying about Carnival what you're saying about Royal Caribbean today. The problem is neither cruise line... It is the industry, and specifically the economy segment of the market.

You mad bro.... The last few posts have done nothing but bash Carnival.
