  1. Recent cruise began with overnight in Bergen ... this is the 'daily' for day two - departure day:
  2. ahhhhhhh ..... so NOW we see the real question I've shown you a typical UBER fare .... unfortunately there is NO public transportation or much in the way of 'local tour service' from the port to the Visitor Center. DIY or a ship excursion are your choices ... there are a few local tours but IME they are very $$ as they include 'other stuff' .... https://realfloridaadventures.com/tour/kennedy-space-center-tour/
  3. a post a while back (I'm just now catching up) wondered about crowds at the pool especially in the afternoon as excursions returned and chair hogs in general. We recently returned from a Norway/Iceland trip and I snapped this on deck after a late excursion .... I took the shot to send to a friend afraid to sail small ships as they insist they must be MORE crowded due to small pool etc etc>>>>> go figure. The MOST crowded I ever saw the pool area was during the 'BlueNose' Ceremony for folks who'd made their first crossing of the Arctic Circle .... like Mrs here:

  5. north of the 'city box' is Cape Canaveral Space Force (formerly Air Force) Station; KSC is on Merritt Island .....
  6. my two cents about an airboat ride in the summer it is gonna be HOT AND HUMID and getting wind blow & a lil wet with swamp water and darn sweaty is not my best idea for spending the next few hours on an airplane . . .
  7. just do a taxi or UBER and tip nicely. There IS a free trolley/shuttle that runs all around Miami but you'd have to walk to the stop and may well end up standing around for a bit waiting on the next one .... https://www.miamiandbeaches.com/plan-your-trip/transportation/how-to-use-miamis-trolleys you'd want the MIAMI trolley - NOT Miami Beach . . . on the other hand the trolley is air conditioned and you could spend all day riding it around the city much like a hop on hop off but without the narration!
  8. when you say 'cape canaveral' are meaning from a location in the town (city) of? or do you really mean the Kennedy Space Center (which we old folks think of as Cape Canaveral where astronauts lanched)? The CITY of Cape Canaveral extends south from the port approx 3 miles .... Ron Jon Surf Shop is about 3.5 miles from Terminal 1 ... 'right now' UBER X from T-1 to Ron Jon is $15 .... always subject to change. T-1 to the KSC Visitor Center is $35 (right now)
  9. most of the track isn't and won't be high speed ..... legally it is 'higher speed' which is slower than high speed .....
  10. port canaveral is a business IN the town of cape canaveral uber or taxi
  11. like I said: the port trilogy: Grills, Fish Lips, Rusty's (and there are others in the area) ask 4 folks which one is best get 6 recommendations 🤣
  12. IME the shuttle just makes continuous runs from the time departures begins until the ship departs on next trip. You can see the office for the MSC berth <but NO you can not walk as the office is on the other side of a draw bridge CLOSED to foot traffic and YES security WILL stop you.> The office and shuttle is shared: National / Alamo / Enterprise
  13. I meant Kelsey's for the pizza/italian .... https://kelseyscanaveral.com/ grills
  14. people UBER it all the time ..... you could make your way over to Brightline or Tr-Rail then transfer as needed to get to the port this will save $$ but involves multiple steps and will take considerably longer ..... my dau does it all the time but lived in Miami and knows her way around
  15. Thanks for the heads up on fog. I just googled and found that there was a day in Jan/23 when cruise ships were kept out of the port for 9 hours because of fog. a couple of years ago the port was closed for THREE DAYS with a cruise ship waiting to get in!
  16. the port trilogy: Grills, Fish Lips, Rusty's (and there are others in the area) ask 4 folks which one is best and get 6 recommendations BUT we prefer Grills as they GRILL vs FRY in most cases. Kelly's Pizza - more than pizza - above average family italian - greek salad is a fav' of mine ... mini is enof for two!!!! all within a couple of minutes . . .
  17. having just had to do some walking around PE due to lack of parking I'd take that $8 in a flash!! here's a map if not yet familiar with your destination here's your potential walk from another view ... about 1/4 mile building to building but add to that the walk from ship, thru security .... thru security and on to ship .... could easily double that and don't count on sidewalk all the way but do count on plenty of traffic.
  18. is it a weekend or a week day? the airport isn't far but the roads downtown can be a bit of a PITA when folks are heading to work. p.s. IMO over 50% of the folks on your average cruise today 'self disembark' to 'beat the rush' on one recent cruise folks started queuing up around 5am
  19. Port Canaveral underway on new $67.4 million parking project It will include a 1,940-space parking garage to serve Cruise Terminals 5 and 6, and a 1,081-space garage to serve Cruise Terminal 10. More commonly the port is described as a north and south side as the channel runs east to west and one must cross a draw bridge to get from side A-NORTH to side B-SOUTH 5,6 & 10 are all on the NORTH side .... and technically they ARE WEST of the B-South terminals 1,2 & 3 Signage reflects the A and B labels as each side has its own entrance 😎
  20. I've never failed to get a spot on an 'included' excursion and last time we were in the 'lowest class' cabin. On our most recent cruise an included was cancelled a few day before sailing ... we were notified and rec'd some ON BOARD CREDT $ ...... And yes the popular extra cost excursions DO tend to get bought up fast. As a V cabin, not much was available by the time we were eligible to book
  21. as I recall the article said two new garages but both on the north side of the port .... Port Canaveral underway on new $67.4 million parking project It will include a 1,940-space parking garage to serve Cruise Terminals 5 and 6, and a 1,081-space garage to serve Cruise Terminal 10.
  22. which docks are the easiest to get to from the major airports this is not a well thought out question .... what is your metric for EASIEST? time? cost? hills? color of the vehicle? IMO they are ALL 'easy' (except Jacksonville ... stay away from that one)
  23. there ARE cruise ships with cabins for singles ... not many but they do exist RCCL ODYSSEY OTS and <some of> the others in the class have 'em too. Son had one for a family cruise last Nov ..... It cost less then paying the 'premium' to be one in a cabin for two. It was also smaller (sq feet) than the lowest cost double cabin. BUT single cabins DO exist . . .
