  1. Hello---it's highly unlikely that this will be necessary but my partner has developed a significant back problem---currently undergoing treatment.

I see from the FAQs on Regent's website that they have a preferred provider for wheelchairs and "Mobility Devices".   2 questions:

    1. Are motorized devices allowed?

    2. Does anyone know how far in advance they need to be reserved?

For anyone interested below is the information from the Regent FAQs.

Thanks very much for any replies.

So a sort of related question - we have a booking in a cabin grade, and this grade is now waitlisted. We ticked the magic upgrade button to see if anything would happen. What happens in this case, do they move the booked cabins to make room for the GTY bookings first?

I realise it is somewhat of a dark art and the peculiarities of it are not particularly clear, just wondering on people’s experiences.

Where is the "Upgrade" button in My Account?

  3. We were on Viking Ocean last Nov/Dec. You may be disappointed in their entertainment. There was often 2 women in the atrium, one playing piano and the other violin. The observation lounge usually had a young man who sang and played guitar in the evening.

The production shows were very different from those on the one Regent cruise we've taken. Viking Ocean had 4 primary entertainers who sang and danced for the shows (one a salute to Abba and another to the Beatles for example). Viking Ocean entertainment seemed quite a bit scaled back from the production shows we saw on Regent.

Don’t know that. I just asked our TA to get us the quote. I let her do the work. I would assume that Regent would do a quote for you.

Regent will give their quote to the prospective passenger.  Agree that the insurance offered by cruise lines is not of much value. We've used to use it in the past and fortunately never had to make a claim.

We're now using the trip insurance store and only insuring what we've spent out of pocket as we go along i.e. amount of deposit then updating once final payment is made. We also pay extra for Cancel of Any Reason coverage.

  5. Precovid we were on the Explorer for a Baltic cruise embarking in Stockholm. The plane arrived on time, unfortunately our luggage did not (not Regent's fault, and we did get our luggage approximately 13 hours later so still in time for embarkation). A couple of people on the cruise did not receive their luggage at all while on board.

We were the last people in baggage claim when we saw 2 people with a sign saying "Regent". We told them about our luggage predicament and they escorted us to lost luggage and waited while we provided all our information to the agent.

They then took us outside, told us to stand by the curb while they walked over to a cab and proceeded to talk to the driver for several minutes. Not sure what they were discussing but we were finally told to get in the cab. It was the most beat up cab I've ever seen---cracked windshield, torn upholstery, etc. From what I understand this is not the typical Regent transfer experience.

The driver then took us directly to our hotel.

As others have said, you will not be able to manage your flights on the airline's website until Regent has ticketed them.  This is around 60 days prior to embarkation rather than as soon as you make final payment, per Regent's Air Department.  We made our final payment for our upcoming cruise over a month ago, but they are still showing on the Lufthansa website as not ticketed.  Our 60-day mark will be in another three weeks.

Regent's Air Department also told me they do make seat reservations when they initially book your flights.  For me at least, the seats do not appear on my Air Schedule in my account on Regent's website nor were they on the itinerary sent to me for review and approval.  I was able to obtain the seat assignments by calling Regent--and it did not trigger the $75 fee.

This MAY not apply to all airlines.  We had air from Regent to LHR on British Air and return on Virgin Atlantic last year and I was able to manage my reservations on their websites as soon as the flight was booked, long before it was ticketed.  I've only booked air through Regent twice, so not sure if this was just an anomaly or if different airlines have different policies on how bookings made by third parties can be managed.

@Loriva----could you please tell me exactly where the Air Schedule appears in My Account?

    Thanks very much.

  7. We have final payment due 7-23 and have received 2 emails from Regent "reminding" us and stating we should call to provide credit card info for the payment.

Is there any reason I can't just go into My Account online and make the payment myself (like I did with the deposit)? Seems like that would be easier and one less call to make.

    Thanks.

  8. We are actually a segment on a longer cruise (Rome to Miami). They are showing 11-20 as a port day in Barcelona and it appears they are being offered excursions in Barcelona (I would hope they wouldn't dock in Tarragona and transport them back and forth). We are set to embark Barcelona to Miami 11-20 so I'll stop worrying about it (for now).

All of the Regent cruises that I've seen in the future from the brochures that they send us every week or 2 have shown Tarragona as their port. We were dropped off in Barcelona last October, and have sailed from there in the past. When I saw Tarragona, and how far it is from Barcelona, I was relieved that we weren't planning to sail on Regent from or to Barcelona in the future. It's not convenient at all.

SWFLAOK---thank you. I'm hopeful we are actually leaving from Barcelona particularly since the cruise immediately preceding ours is scheduled to disembark in Barcelona the same day we embark.

Its going to make life very difficult if Regent does not sort out where Voyager is docking in Sept because if its Tarragona i dare not book tickets to see inside Sagrada Familia and they will be sold out long before

@phillipahain. Can I ask why you mention Tarragona? Our cruise in November is clearly marketed as embarking in Barcelona.

  11. Hello---does anyone know which terminal Regent typically uses in Barcelona?  Trying to plan ahead and see if any long walk is involved or whether there is any shuttle service available once at the port. We did a cruise out of Barcelona in the past but it was over 20 years ago and I don't remember much about the port.

    Thanks very much.
