  1. I don't agree, at least based on our experience. There is a nice beach just east of the cruise pier (walking distance). There is also a smaller beach just to the west (where Margaritaville is). It has been ~5 years since we visited, so perhaps something has changed. This won't be the "beach club/all-inclusive" vibe, but there were a la carte drinks and food options.
  2. We plan on doing a snorkeling/Stingray City tour, but will be back to the pier with several hours to spare. Any recommendations on activities right at the port (dining, bars, shopping, etc.) to kill some time and get some additional value from the stop? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the replies. Do you know if Seashore and Seascape identical to one another? Or have identical layouts, but perhaps different stylistic touches? We went on the Seashore this past July and are booked on Seascape next June.
  4. On the stateroom plan on the MSC website, it appears that there are a few Deluxe Grand rooms on the Seascape that are larger (wider) than the others. It appears that 16020, 16027, 19025, and 19028 are the larger ones. It this accurate, or is it just the way it's displayed on the website? I've seen a video on YouTube of Seashore cabin 19028 where it appears to be quite large (wide), but I'm not sure if Seascape and Seashore are exactly the same. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the great write-up. We are considering the Duplex cabin. We've never stayed in anything like that before, and are excited about the extra room.
  6. We have sailed in the YC on Seaside and Seashore several times, but are considering a Mereviglia sailing next summer. Can anyone compare/contrast the YC experiences between the Seaside class and Mereviglia? Anything other general thoughts on Mereviglia as a ship are welcomed, too. Thanks in advance.
  7. We are considering a Mereviglia cruise that has a port can in Port Canaveral. For those that have done this before, are there Disney (or other theme park) excursions that MSC (or others) offer? The time in port is 1:00pm-9:00pm, so I'm not even sure that would work, but looking to hear some past experiences. Thanks in advance.
  8. We are considering the YC Duplex Suite w/Whirlpool on the Mereviglia. There are four of us (myself, wife, and two teen daughters). For those that have sailed in these cabins, thoughts/opinions? Are the cabins on decks 9 and 12 the same size? Any pros/cons to being on one deck or another? The graphic makes it appear that 12001 and 12004 are smaller than the other deck 12 cabins. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  9. We are heading to the waterfalls with a tour company (haven't been there before, but we sail there next week).
  10. Thanks. Our cruise leaves this Saturday and my DW just realized she can't find her card. So we are working with her doctor to get a reprinted card. 🙂
  11. For cruises leaving Miami, does MSC require the original paper vaccine card? Or is a picture of the card, etc. allowed?
  12. MSC's New U.S. Flagship Makes it a Royal Caribbean, Carnival Rival - TheStreet
  13. Ah, there it is. Thanks for pointing that out. It does appear to be a smaller selection than I recall, but perhaps it's just the photo/angle.
  14. Are there still drinks/snacks in the new YC waiting area?
  15. Perhaps a dumb question, but the free covid testing that's performed at the pier is accepted by MSC to fulfill their pre-cruise testing requirement? You are given the results and documentation right away?
  16. One of the Seashore itineraries currently stops at St. Thomas.
  17. Any experiences with good beaches near Puerto Plata? Or snorkeling? This will be our firs time in the DR, so any excursion advice is welcomed. Thanks!
  18. Does anyone have experience with the Playa Dorado Beach, Coconut Cove Beach, or Ocean World Day Pass excursions? Or really, any other advice about Puerto Plata, as this is our first time there.
  19. Thanks. There is a question that asks "have you had a COVD vaccination in the last 6 months". That isn't a requirement, right? Only that you are fully vaccinated? Ours is older than 6 months.
  20. Is the health questionnaire able to be completed online? The main web check-in page says "Immediate action: we kindly ask you to complete the health questionnaire and accept our passage contract as soon as possible." But I can't find where on the site this can be done. We are US citizens traveling on the Seashore out of Miami, and within 20 days of embarkation.
  21. Thanks, all. How quickly do you get a test result from the tele-monitored test? Does it get emailed to you?
  22. We are US citizens, and leaving for a Caribbean cruise from Miami at the end of July. According the the website, current requirements are "All fully COVID-19 vaccinated guests are required to show proof of a negative antigen or RT-PCR test taken no more than 2 days prior to embarkation." We haven't had to test for COVID for any travel yet, so I guess I'm not sure what kind of test this is. CVS pharmacy provides "in-person lab tests" that are PCR/NAAT, and you receive the results within 1-2 days. These are $139/test. They also have "at home" rapid antigen and PCR tests for $9.99. Do at home tests meet the MSC requirements? I guess I was just shocked that we would have to pay nearly $300 to get us both tested. Are there other options that are cheaper that people have utilized?
  23. We will be in the YC on Seashore at the end of the month, so we hope you're right! We've been in the YC on Seaside several times, but this will be our first trip on Seashore.
