@Sea Dog Glad you got through it and are home. Sounds like you should always request a vein specialist in the future rather than getting stuck repeatedly. It is a double edged sword, drink to get your veins plump, no drink or food after midnight 🤣 I hope they don't have to do a biopsy but maybe it would be good to have a definitive answer. Thinking of you my friend!

Yeah about that. It is really not far. The train station is easy too, not that big. -

I got off Explorer on June 1 in Ravenna and took the bus to Ravenna station. It was $12 pp and you can choose from different times depending on your train. We picked the 10am shuttle for an 11:30 train and had plenty of time. You will also get your luggage tag to coincide so our was 34 and our departure was 9:30. It was easy peasy! -

So sorry about your friend. I understand how hard it was for you to stay any longer than you did. It is never easy. I was on Explorer 5/25-6/1 and did same ports as you did. Our day in Santorini was similar except we had dinner reservations at a lovely restaurant in Fira. I had mussels for my dinner and they were yummy. We didn’t have calamari. We ended up walking down the donkey path too instead of waiting in line. Even though our ship was there from 2-11, the day felt rushed cause we got a late tender ticket. Wish we could have stayed longer. -
Made it on the Explorer after a not organized bus ride from Venice to Ravenna. Got to the bus station at 10:30 am for 11am departure. Long line to board buses, threatening storm coming and we were out in the open. So, they did move us into a covered area. Don’t get in bus till 12:30 and arrived at port at 2:30. Getting on ship was smooth though!

We are staying in the San Polo section. It has been very convenient to everything. Today we did the Doges Palace and St. Marks Basilica. Then up the clock tower. A little lunch and walked over the Grand Canal to the neighborhood that the Peggy Guggenheim and Dorso Duro district. It has been a great day. Pictures are not uploading very well.

Hello from Venice! We are starting our 3rd day here. Our flight from JFK went off very well and we have had a little rain but still have done all we have planned. Yesterday was an excursion to Murano and Burano. Today DH and I are doing the Doges Palace tour. Tomorrow we meet Explorer of the seas in Ravenna! Here are some pictures.

Good evening all. Just wanted to hop on to let you know that we are cleared for take off in the morning! DH's procedure today (lithotripsy) to blast his kidney stone was a success! Phew! First flight is Detroit to JFK departure time 10:07am so our pickup to airport is at 7am. We have a bit of a layover at JFK as flight to Venice departs at 6pm so we will be enjoying the Delta Lounge. I will check in here from time to time to provide updates and pictures! Ciao!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I wish I could say it was the best day ever, but I actually spent all morning at the hospital with my DH, Dave, who had a second kidney stone episode yesterday. So most of yesterday was in the ER, he spent the night at the hospital and this morning had another stent put in. The first round came last December. This stone is bigger and since we are scheduled to depart for Italy and our cruise on Explorer a week from today he is having lithotripsy performed on Monday the 20th. Not exactly the best birthday but that is okay as long as we make our trip. Anyway he is comfortable now and we did go to a Sushi restaurant in Detroit tonight for dinner so it wasn't all bad! 😁
