    Hi Beachlover,

I think we might be on the same cruise as you (Apex - Aug 9-21/23). We are looking for transportation from Greenock to Glasgow and a tour in Glasgow as well.  We've been to Loch Lomond on a previous cruise that docked here.

We are traveling with two friends and we have been unable to find what we're looking for that doesn't cost a small fortune.  And the times we're docked are pretty bad.  Right now we plan on a taxi or ship transport to Glasgow and then perhaps the Hop On Hop Off.

You are welcome.  If you are not that familiar with the night time constellation and planets, there are a lot of free stargazing apps that turn your smart phone into an awesome constellation identifier using the phone's camera, location, and time information.  It's amazingly useful.  You need an internet connection to download the app onto your phone.  Once downloaded, you don't have to have an internet connection to use the main features of the app.

The evening skies will be getting darker with each passing cruise day because the moon will be rising into the night sky later and later.  Take advantage of the moonless  period in the night and if it's clear take a look at the sky because many of the stars in the southern hemisphere are not visible from Ohio.  Hopefully you can find a somewhat dark spot on the ship to do this.

Some things about the southern sky worth noting if you are interested (most people are not):

    1. The highly recognizable constellation of Orion will appear high in the sky, but it will be upside down compare to what you are used to seeing in Columbus.

    2. The stars that form the well known Southern Cross (also made famous by the Crosby, Stills, and Nash song of the same name) is virtually impossible to see from the USA but will be well placed in the night sky during your cruise.

    3.  Near the Southern Cross is a very bright star, Alpha Centauri which is the star system closest to us earthlings at a "mere" 4.3 light years away.

I could go on, but I will spare you.  Whether you like to star gaze or not, I hope you are enjoying your cruise.

    Thank you for this information!

Someone has posted a thread about pre-owned LV purse on the Beyond. Does the Infinity has something similar. Sorry but I am a big LV fan. You can never have enough LV purses 🙂

Thank you in advance for your replies

I was on Infinity in November and they do have a pre-owned LV store!

No one is shaming you. Why pay for shipping when no guarantee the item won't break. I just prefer to have full control of my own possessions.  I read of several cases where glasses were broken on arrival then you have to get replaced and wait another few weeks. Too much of a hassle.

    I wasn't referring to you ☺️

I remember I took the class on the ship at the time shipping was $15 but being in Canada they said shipping was more don't remember exact price so I opted to bring with me took my chances and all was good. To buy that same tasting set today costs $180.  Back then class was $62 I think it was in 2014.

Exactly!  I wasn't complaining at all and didn't need to be shamed.  I was just making sure people realized how much shipping was!

That being said, 4 Riedel glasses for $30 shipping is a steal, regardless of type. If advertised as 4 separate glasses for 4 different types of wine and only receiving 2 pairs of 2 glasses, can try to negotiate/barter with site...but you still got 4 Riedel glasses for $30 shipping.

It wasn’t just the $30 for shipping…the class wasn’t FREE - the class itself costs almost $90.

  8. I did the class in November and was fascinated by the actual difference in taste! Although expensive, it seemed worth it since you received four free Riedel glasses. Once home, I was disappointed to learn that the “free” glasses cost me another $30 in shipping costs. And the class said 4 assorted glasses, but once you go to order, it has to be two sets of 2 glasses.

We were on the Infinity sailing December 21. There is no waiting area for retreat guest. The boarding was (a bit) chaotic.

You literally walk directly to the terminal where you drop off your bags, no porters.

We said we are in a suite and we were pointed to the standard waiting line.

Better worked mentioning retreat and priority boarding, we were then guided directly to the shuttle bus to embark the infinity. (with one stop where we had to hand over our passports and received them back after the last port-day in Michael‘s Club).

    Bon voyage

    Thank you for the information!

That is interesting.  I've never seen a separate line to get on the ship for Suit Guest other than on embarkation.  I'll have to keep an eye out for one next time we sail.

I can't remember, but it was either our AU/NZ cruise or the Panama Canal cruise.  I was thrilled because it was terribly hot!

Really wanted that glass of welcome sparkling wine after scaling the ramp, but that appears to have been eliminated. I don't recall it on my Nov Beyond cruise either.

Never fear, the Martini Bar was open! 🍸😃

I'm not sure why they've done away with the welcome glasses - I always looked forward to that too!  Now you have to go the bar and it's slightly anticlimactic. Oh the hardships 😂

  12. If there is a long line and you need to exit quickly, you can go to the Retreat Lounge and the Retreat Concierge will escort you to the front of the line.

I have also experienced some ports that had a long line to get back ON the ship and there was a separate line for Suites, so we were able to skip the line and walk right on.  Very helpful at warm ports.

  13. Hi Julie!  Thank you so much for doing this! I'm looking forward to following along as we will be boarding on February 11.  We were on Infinity in November and she's still a grand lady!  Although she hasn't been revolutionized, they have definitely kept her up to date and she looks great!  They were even replacing a lot of carpeting while we were onboard.  Hope you have a fabulous time!  Cheers!  Lisa
