  1. You may not like this option, but it is available for those who have later flights out of MIA and who have a little bit of adventure in them:

    1) Take Uber/Lyft or shuttle to FLL Airport and get off at Terminal 1 or the Car Rental Center.

    2) Take (Free) shuttle to Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail station. (download free Trai-Rail app for pricing and schedules.   https://blog.shuttlefare.com/tri-rail-fort-lauderdale-airport

    3) Purchase ticket to MIA Airport at Tri-Rail ticket booth or vending machine (approx $3.75 pp).

Train goes direct to Miami Airport connecting to all terminals

  2. Rich, I'm guessing you are on the Zuiderdam.  Saw her a couple of weeks ago in dry dock in Freeport.

Saw her again on Thursday in the park across from Terminal 26.  We have sailed on her several times and really enjoyed the ship including Panama Canal.  Wishing you a safe and pleasant WC.  Hoping to follow your travels!!

  3. We have all heard the term HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT?  Ever observe how few people passing by the hand washing sinks on the Lido deck ever stop to wash their hands?

Hiding in plain sight are the self help utensils (although few) where germs can be easily transmitted.  Then...unknowingly we eat and put our hands to our face or shake hands with others.

We always wear our mask but the enemy is still hiding in plain sight.

  4. I agree with those commenting about the poor disembarking handling on our return to Port Everglades on 11/19.  HAL team-members and officers were walking around with their radios while passengers patiently waiting in long lines for some information to get off the ship.  Why can't someone take the responsibility to let the passengers know they are having a problem with the connecting jetway/ bridge and they are going to let you know in a few minutes how we plan to proceed by using deck A to disembark......etc.

Also, your comment about the drink card. The Mariner drink card was introduced during COVID and now that COVID protocols have been relaxed (remember Orange Party, face mask optional) let's get back to Mariner Awards appreciation lunch instead of dropping Mariner tiles, pins and medallions in our staterooms.  Some ships are doing it while others are not.  I'm told no tiles were distributed during this cruise.

  5. Have the Four & Fiver Star Award ceremonies been abandoned?  I saw some post where the pins were delivered to your stateroom and/or mailed.

Does anyone have positive knowledge on this subject?  I remember going to award ceremonies, usually with the Captain, Hotel General Manager and Cruise director and other awardees followed by a Mariner luncheon.  It was very nice and memorable.  The Mariner tiles were given out then.

  6. My suggestion, as soon as you board the ship turn to your left and go to the MDR Host. He/She will be standing at a podium.  Ask for table for two and have your dining time preference known.  You can also make specialty dining reservations there too.
