  1. Wow. I was on the same cruise that departed Port Everglades on Apr 02. I agree with the review of the N.A. But would also add that they have a great BB King band on board for those that like to dance and listen to blues and Motown. I also enjoyed the Adagio group as well. Also, there are not too many cruise lines that serve lobster for dinner on the Lido deck! Great cruise.

  2. We were aboard the Koningsdam on Jan 29, 2017 and enjoyed the Lincoln Center musicians. The all female group was fantastic. The comment about the noise levels at certain times was distracting from the upstairs casino (from the open staircase), and the Billboard dueling pianos sharing the same deck.

  3. We were on the NA on the Nov 27 sailing. The BB King band was technically good but not one of my favorites. What annoyed my wife and I was the guitarist (leader) had such a big ego and decided to fool around while performing with the bass and keyboard player. It was very distracting and disrespectful. I complained on the survey comment card after the cruise. The others were professional and talented.

On the other hand I have experienced some bands which were fantastic and memorable on ships such as the Oosterdam, Westerdam, Eurodam. Just off the Koningsdam , the BB King band was good but not memorable,

  4. I looked into the Tri Rail option which would be nice but it still takes us about 5 miles away from our final destination and the cost of an Uber (well two Ubers) would not give us any cost savings from using a private shuttle. I do love using Uber though for the short little distances without all our luggage!

Sorry Tri-Rail did not work out for you. I try to pass this along to the adventure seekers (well kind of) since many don't know about this service. Tri-Rail has a station at Miami Airport and has FREE connecting shuttles to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach Airports. They have luggage racks on the train and this in my opinion beats the stressful traffic on I-95. Rates are very reasonable too.... and on weekends you can ride Tri-Rail (all day) for just $5.00 per person.

  5. I agree with Ken the Cruiser about the ONE WAY signs being absent on all of the HAL ships I sailed on. This truly is a safety concern and I don't know why HAL is reluctant to address this issue. I personally have written on comment cards, the Front Office and ships officer but have not received any explanation why they won't change.

I have even seen passengers using walkers going the opposite way on the p/deck while a jogger (yes jogger) is going the other way.

  6. This answer if for those who like to try something new......

Take a bus/taxi to Ft. Lauderdale Airport. There is a FREE shuttle to the Tri-Rail train station (Ft. Lauderdale) just a few miles away. The Tri-Rail train will take you directly to

Miami Intl Airport. There is a free connecting mono-rail from Tri-Rail station directly to the airport.

The one-way cost is $5.00 on weekends and $6.25 weekdays. There is a Tri-Rail App you can download with schedule and fare information.
