  1. I was surprised at the number of people dressing up on the Enchanted this past cruise. It seemed that more people than at Christmas/New years time for sure. I attribute it to lots of newbies that might have been influenced by the web site information. It's a good thing they weren't strict at all concerning the women. Although I did have a nice top to go with my black slacks it was so cold on the ship that I wore my denim jacket almost 100 % of the time even in the DR. It was the warmest thing I had.
  2. Since there are only Vanilla, Chocolate ice cream and Sorbet listed on the menu every day, it's no long hidden. I can't quite understand why eliminating their different flavors of ice cream is a money saver, but it seems to be the way of the future.
  3. If the Crown has changed they're TV's similar to the Enchanted then the HDMI input will be disconnected completely, for any input. I can't say for sure. The good news is that they still had the USB input activated & could accept certain types of formats, even directly from a flash drive or hard drive. I had one HD that was the correct type & another that wasn't. i.e.- NTFS, FAT32, or exFAT. On the Enchanted only NTFS was working. The input can be switched using the manual toggle switch at the bottom center of all their TV's by first tuning to a news channel & then switching the input. Forget using their remote until it's switched. The movies are mostly old if you're a movie buff and keep up with the current ones at home. Good luck.
  4. I don't think it was so much as giving up as Princess has now joined the rest of the cruising community with a relaxed dress code in order to provide a more casual atmosphere, yet still appear upscale. It is working.
  5. That was exceptional for during the day. On the Enchanted speed like that, at best, was only available at 4 AM.
  6. I should have stated, specially restaurant.
  7. If you do skip the DR on formal nights, you'll be missing out on some of the better meals that Princess serves, but that's your choice. We prefer to go on nights when nothing is appealing.
  8. I have no problem keeping track of my 15 drink limit, it's the bartenders who keep charging drinks to one account when explicitly told to split them over 2 accounts. At the end of the day it's easy to go over the limit and they'll not say a word. We must have had at least 10 mistakes made during our cruise. At $30 each, it adds up.
  9. Well then Princess will be a good choice no matter which style you chose. Tux, jeans or sweat pants. Everything seems to be OK lately. I saw noone turned away at any time.
  10. I couldn't find it at the time and even asked the medallion help people how and they couldn't find it. The bartenders weren't much help either.
  11. I am not the one who brought up the subject of dress codes but you seemed to criticize the person that did. Enjoy your day.
  12. Yes, they had 1 selection every night although all the different flavors of ice cream they had in past years is missing, which was disappointing.
  13. I agree with everything you posted. With the ship being filled to capacity they still did a pretty good job of running things. Only a few nights did the dining room (Santorini's) seem overwhelmed but we still managed to eat in less than 90 minutes.
  14. Yes, seems, since some people don't want to dress up for the DR on formal nights (not that they have to) and go to Specialty restaurants to avoid the hassle. And since they weren't specific, there's nothing wrong with a little extra information so they could be prepared.

No but it nice to know what to expect in advance to avoid watching the newest ones & have an opportunity to see them on the ship for the first time. It's not a problem on any Princess ship lately since 99.9% of the movies are OLD. Unless you've been living in seclusion prior to sailing you've probably seen all of them.
  16. Using the medallion system is handy for most situations but unless I'm mistaken, there's no way to use it to check on the number of drinks you've ordered in a day similar to what the bartenders can do?
  17. Another reason to consider other cruise lines.
  18. No but since the OP seems to want to avoid those formal nights by going to a specially restaurant, NSWP provided the information, just in case they didn't know.
  19. Lets face it, the Crown is getting old. If given a choice you're better off with any of the newer ships no matter how much you love the Crown.
  20. Exact same thing happened for the Enchanted. They're getting better.
  21. We always get there early. No unnecessary yacking in the DR with anyone. It provides us with seats in our usual location at the end of the aisle lower section- to bail out early should the need arise. (as it did with a comedian last cruise). We can also leave early to get to the next show especially when the audience gets overly enthusiastic and wants to give someone a standing ovation.
  22. I like my coffee but not at the price they're asking. I'll stick with the regular stuff & they can keep there special package.
