  1. We have always booked spa cabins on the Getaway. Like myself, if you cannot get a lot of sun, the spa is a wonderful place to relax. No children allowed either. My experience tho is that it does get very busy on sea days, but I have always found a lounge chair, maybe not the heated one, but that is OK. Enjoy!

    To Razor

Big difference between "disagreeing" and being judgmental and mean spirited. No matter how many posts you have. I just found it strange that a person had just joined CC (2 posts) and was already being so judgmental and opinionated. I was trying to help he/she out. I did not understand where he/she was coming from. I made a polite suggestion. I was not being obnoxious and mean spirited back.

Ideally the threads are to gather information, but the trolls get in too. Posters should be able to have a little fun without being judged and criticized and called out unless their comments are totally inappropriate. Then the mods step in. But hey I may just have to use that ignore button. Never have yet. I have had people disagree with me on several threads, but I do not name call and or get personal back or judge them. Stick to the facts.

I think this thread was very helpful and funny in some cases. I have not yet had obnoxious neighbors, but have a good idea what my options are in case I do. I will bring some sticky notes on my upcoming cruise just in case.;p

  3. Amy - my mother had a lot of great sayings, but one of the best (that I have used 1,000,000 times) is “Your rights end where my nose begins”! I always though that sums up nicely that fact that none of us have rights that are not curbed by the rights of others (and usually and notably ignored by a lot of the people like describe here!)

    Like this!

  4. You can get them to unpack for you and draw a bath (the specialty bath list I saw had spa prices) if you are so inclined. We were in a spa suite-has a hot tub in the room.

We only used the butler to bring full breakfasts and snacks as others have mentioned. The concierge and dining room superviosr did more for us.

  5. Passive aggressive childishness.

Yes. We are all just having a little fun on this Friday afternoon before a three day weekend for many!

I would suggest you get a few more posts under your belt before you start calling out your fellow CC posters! See how things work and all.

Happy Labor Day to all the Americans!! Cheers!

  6. Spoken like someone who has never seen a fleet of wheelchairs and scooters coming down the hall.

They DO in fact have the right to live their lives even if that bothers you. The days of salting the disabled away, out of sight so they don't annoy the more fortunate are gone and good riddance.

Moving to the side to let scooters and wheelchairs go by is not what we were "talking" about. That does not "bother"me in the least. I specifically was talking about loud TV noises that interfere with my ability to sleep and responding to another poster who brought up the hearing impaired as a disability.

Now tho I might have to worry about hearing other noises as well! Yikes!:o

Well there ya go! Problem solved. Thanks Jenny!
  8. Wow you just don’t get it do you. Here’s a quarter buy a clue.

You will not be bothered if you spend 99 cents on earplugs.

As I mentioned before I totally and completely disagree with you and always will on this subject. I get you think I should wear earplugs to accommodate a deaf person watching TV turned up loud enough that people in other cabins can hear it. I disagree.

My point: I should not HAVE to wear ear plugs in my own cabin to block out other's noise. Most ear plugs do not always block out all noises anyway unless you get them made just for you.

Hopefully this problem will not happen on my upcoming cruise. I do bring earplugs on vacation BTW just in case.

I see no reason to respond to you any longer. As I said, we will have to disagree. Wear YOUR earplugs.

You might want to respond to the post from Mike_DeA about legal rights of disabled people.

  9. Seems to me it's done all the time.

We often see people with disabilities cutting lines, given special (better/closer) seating, parking, & assistance of one sort or another while we continue to wait in line or for service.

Respectfully, the above does not interfere with my ability to rest or sleep or enjoy my vacation on a cruise. I go on a cruise to relax and get some rest and have fun. That is what we are talking about on this thread.

I do not mind if someone in a wheelchair gets special assistance on embarkation for example. I will not lose sleep over that!

  10. Not meant to be hilarious it was meant as the truth. People with disabilities have rights under the law. You have the option of wearing ear plugs if it bothers you so much and you can leave me as many notes as you like, In the end I would report the harassment to guest services along with the solution for you wearing ear plugs. Care to guess who guest services will side with?

    Are you deaf?

I don't think people with disabilities have the "right" to bother other people.

  11. Yes it is. It is a disability and if you don’t get that well....just hope you are never next door to someone with that disability because you can complain all you like but you your complaints will literally fall on deaf ears.

    :eek::'):eek::')

    Hilarious.

We will have to disagree Ms. Chick. I do not agree and never will agree that anyone with a disability or otherwise has the right to interfere with mine or anyone else's ability to relax in peace and quiet in their own cabin with the balcony door shut. Remember too there might be children trying to sleep as well. It is not just adults we are talking about here. And we all paid good money to cruise.

I am sure I could find someone in guest services or security who is not hearing impaired. I could also assume my "obnoxious" neighbor could read a post it note I placed on their door. There are many ways to communicate.

  12. Logical people do not wear hearing aids to bed.

    I do not get this.

So deaf people, can lie in bed without their hearing aids, turn up the TV so loud that people in the next cabin can hear, just so they can hear? And that is OK?

Now if it is the opposite, a deaf person can take out their hearing aids to go to bed and are not bothered by loud TV in the next room-I get that.

(Not a fan of loud TV or music myself) Have been fortunate thus far to have nice, quiet neighbors on the cruises we have been on. But after reading this thread, I have all kind of ideas about what to do should our neighbors be obnoxious!

  13. Wow...so this went down hill fast.

    -------------

My mom uses a walker for distances, and in some corridors on the ship, I have had to pick other peoples dirty dishes up so she had room to get by. That should not be my job, and it wouldn't have to be if people were not so lazy and entitled that they can't troubled to take a plate back to where they got it, or to leave it in their own space until their steward could take care of it.

    Sorry...touched a nerve.

Understood. It's bad enough you have to look at the dirty dishes much less have to touch them for your Mom to get by.

  14. I don't dispose of dirty dishes. That is wasteful. I put them in the hallway for theme to be picked up washed and used again, all nice and proper, and easily taken away by anyone!

What is the theme related to picking up and washing dirty dishes? Also not grossing out your fellow passengers who have to look at your mess and getting in the way of handicapped people? Cleanliness? Tidiness? Consideration? How to not be an obnoxious neighbor on a cruise ship?

  15. OK - Have to ask... What is a "Tin Foil Type"? Is that like a conspiracy theorist?

I have never heard of that particular expression but I would venture to say that it describes people who are paranoid. Off topic but interesting. A paranoid or delusional person might think that the tin foil blocks the gamma rays or whatever they think the government or some entity is beaming at them. ( I have worked in psychiatry for many years and had patients who used tin foil for that purpose).
