  1. I do wish they had a cabinet or pool “locker” area for people who just need a place for their things. Mark and I don’t spend a lot of time lounging around the pool so when we are there, we generally just share a chair for our towels, sandals, sunscreen, etc. We’d happily give that lounge chair up if we had a secure place to keep our pool stuff while we are in the pool. 😁
  2. Yes he would be welcome. For anyone who doesn’t have a package, I believe you can pay a la carte or the $14.99 cover charge (which includes two large plates and one dessert). With Plus you can eat here twice and with Premier you get unlimited casual dining for no additional charge.
  3. Dessert was the lemon posset. It was a creamy lemon custard. It was nice and light after such a heavy meal. We had a little bit of a wait at the beginning but agreed that we would like to eat here again. Maybe this cruise, maybe not. But we definitely enjoyed the food and listening to the music from Wheelhouse Bar while we ate.
  4. Mark tried the SDG burger. He liked it, but said he wished it was a little flatter so it went all the way to the sides of the bun. It was thick in the middle and was a little awkward to eat (though very flavorful). He also had the asparagus with toasted haloumi cheese. I opted for the chicken sandwich and lobster mac & cheese. I enjoyed them both but Mark had to finish the lobster mac. That was a big sandwich!
  5. I decided to go for a cider this evening. Angry Orchard is the only one listed on the SDG menu, but Wheelhouse Bar has Strongbow and the waiter was happy to get one for me. They serve these “breadsticks” to everyone regardless of what you order. They are lightly crunchy and are served with a seasoned beer-cheese sauce.
  6. Dinner tonight at Salty Dog Gastropub located on Deck 7 just inside the Wheelhouse Bar. No reservations required, but there may be a wait if tables are full. We waited around 10 minutes for a table. One nice thing though. While you wait for your table, you can have a seat in the Wheelhouse Bar and they will come get you when it’s ready. You can have a drink and listen to the music while you wait.
  7. I think we are going to skip the MDR tonight and try the Salty Dog Gastropub. Tonight’s MDR menu according to the app.
  8. Mark and I talked about sharing one of these. Now you have me wondering if the calories would be worth it!?! 😩
  9. And our last stop was at a restaurant on Maracas Bay. Here we had a little time to grab a bite to eat, use the washroom, or take a walk on the beach. It was a little rainy for us today, so not many people walked out on the sand. After our short beach stop we headed back to the ship. Nadine passed out bottles of local juices for the ride back. Once back to port, we wandered around the craft market before reboarding.
  10. We stopped at a second overlook (with more vendors, but no one was pushy or insistent).
  11. We made our way up the mountain side to an overlook where we could see the Ruby docked below. There were quite a few vendors set up in this area. Try to remember to bring some smaller bills. They don’t have a lot of cash for change. Especially early in the day.
  12. Our first stop was a botanical garden. We spent around 30 minutes or so here.
  13. On the way out of Port of Spain, Nadine pointed out many sights and areas of interest.
  14. We opted for a tour through the cruise ship because 1) it’s been 10-12 years since we’ve been to Trinidad and 2) it felt like the safer option since we are very unfamiliar with the area. Our tour was called Best of Trinidad: Highlights and Scenic Drive. Our tour tickets said to meet in the theater on deck 7 at 8:10 am. Don’t be late. We arrived at 8:08 and the tour was already headed downstairs to exit the ship. We boarded our bus (around 20 people) and made note of the tag number. Our guide, Nadine, offered commentary as we drove through Port of Spain.
  15. Coffee and a light breakfast at the International Cafe this morning. Breakfast sandwich and fruit w/granola
  16. Comedian in the theater for the 9:30 show. He seemed to be well-received. We both got a Bailey’s Raspberry. Mark really likes this drink. I think I might go back to my G&T. The Bailey’s is a bit sweet.
  17. Desserts We both got the apple pie and we both gave it two thumbs up. 👍 👍👍👍
  18. Mahi Mahi (Mark said this was not bad, but he liked my shrimp stir-fry a lot better.) Wok-flashed Shrimp
  19. Grilled Chicken Satay. (really good) BBQ chicken broth (sorry so blurry, I don’t know what my phone camera was trying to focus on) Tossed Greens with Cucumber and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
