I've read the above posts. We enjoy tonic water, but not from a bar gun. If we want cans of tonic water can we get it from the Neptune lounge and charge it to our HIA allowance? If not, will we be able to ask our room steward to provide it and deduct it from our daily HIA allowance? Post #12 indicates that we can order water and tonic on embarkation day and it will be deducted from our daily allowance. Have not had the HIA before and will be on Oosterdam in January. Hoping not to have to bring cans of tonic water on board. Thank you, Cherie

We will be on the Oosterdam in January for 21 days and have reserved the Thermal Suite. I am having trouble finding what the hours are. I assume that it is open all days, including port days. It's easy. When you go to the CC boards, you scroll down to Roll Calls. You find the cruise line you are cruising on, click on that. then find the ship you are cruising on. You'll see Zaandam and can click on October. Voila, there will probably be a very active roll call for this cruise and you can post directly on the roll call with your questions. The problem is that those with final payment ahead of them or planning a cruise in the future on Oosterdam or another HAL ship may take this into consideration. I know I am. The aft wrap Neptune suites are not cheap. Good customer service goes a long way to encourage repeat business and new business. No excuses for HAL, and I know you are not excusing them. There are choices. Cherie

I have been following this because of our January 2024 cruise on the Oosterdam on Deck 4. Hopeful that the situation will be addressed in dry dock. The cabin in question, 4085, is still available, and it is not being discounted. There are many posts regarding HAL offers of compensation. I have not seen that OP was ever offered anything but FCC. Is that correct? Not $1000 pp cash but FCC. $1000 is an unacceptable offer from HAL, IMO, whether pp or total, and FCC...just ridiculous. JMO. Cherie

Thank you Kazu, We board on January 7 and January 8 is a sea day. If we have this problem we will address it as you have encouraged and we will be off the ship with bags in hand on the 9th if they cannot fix it. I'm so looking forward to this cruise and this ship. We are on the opposite aft wrap cabin as OP for 22 days in January. If this type of thing is not fixed I will be so upset. I don't know that it has been effecting our cabin but this type of problem should not be tolerated by anyone. I agree with the poster who indicated a full refund is in order. FCC...are you crazy HAL? I like the idea of sailing on an older ship but not if the ship is not in "tip top shape." JMO. Cherie

Try the Park Shore Waikiki. Across the street from the beach, views of Diamond Head, Kapiolani Park, and beach, a great location in Waikiki. Also, Lulu's Waikiki is one of our favorite restaurants, attached to the Park Shore. Cherie

Could you request dinner room service before leaving for you fun day? Totally understand. I'm not sure at what time you can order the MDR menu for room service, but the 24 hour room service may be a possibility.

There was a thread by the granddaughter of a gentleman that died while in Africa. She was requesting info on getting his remains sent home. He apparently was not in great health when beginning the cruise, loved cruising, and wanted to give it a go since the 2020 WC was cut short. Possibly this is the same gentleman. The granddaughter and others on the cruise who knew him said that he died doing something he loved. I can't find the thread. Thinking of your loved one in a hospital in a foreign country by themself is so difficult. Cherie
