Thanks that still §74 per person per day, assuming it’s US § wondering if they take into account the currency exchange or as that would bring it down to around £57 a day which is a bit better so could maybe wait for discount? We cruise in July from Southampton.

Totally get the peace of mind, my son will be 18 so may benefit from the drinks package.

Previous  cruises (RCI and NCL) we were able to order multiple drinks on one card, wondering is that the same? We’re a party of 12, 6 adults 6 kids. Have read no sharing as could result in package being cancelled without refund, does that happen?

    many thanks

Probably not going to be any meaningful discounts before July, drinking age is 21 here so your son will not benefit.

They will only allow 1 drink per sea pass card if you have the package. without the package you can buy the whole ship a round if you wish! I cannot comment on punishment for sharing as I have not witnessed this, but I would be surprised if anyone would notice a bit of sharing if it's not obvious.

There is drink of the day specials which can save you some and domestic beers cost less than mixed drinks.

  2. Just off Anthem a couple weeks ago, the cheapest we saw on the package would have cost $1190 for our 8 day cruise for 2 people.

We brought on 2 wine bottles and pre purchased the case of water for the room, 25 bucks, 6pack of beer with the cooler at 39 bucks,(the new cooler is really good quality) and our total bar bill at end of cruise was $600. We drank what we wanted, when we wanted and that was plenty!

I do not enjoy being totally inebriated during vacation but enjoy afternoon drinks. The package always makes me want to "get my moneys worth" and actually detracts from the relaxing enjoyment I am looking for.

  3. Thank you Harry, for this detailed trip report, being on the east coast working night shift I look forward to your daily dose of entertainment during my long overnight!

Did you ever even get to the pool deck? we cruise on anthem out of jersey in the winter and are somewhat concerned with odyssey coming here next year with the lack of the indoor pool.

I was reading a comparison of the 2 ships earlier and it stated there are actually more pools on odyssey than anthem.

Does odyssey actually have what could be considered a "pool" in the solarium?

  4. Okay, my voyage is fast approaching, and I am still not able to get any idea if royal has resumed these excursions. Any recent cruisers out there who have or have not been able to go to blue lagoon in Nassau?

Still not showing as an option to purchase but my planner still says I have it booked, this is literally the only thing we have booked for this trip and looking forward to it.

  5. We are cruising mid February to Nassau and booked blue lagoon before the accident which prompted royal to remove these excursions from the planner.

What is royal currently providing passengers who had this booked? I imagine that by February the island will resume operations but if they do not, what should we expect?

  6. Just back from my first celebrity cruise after several on royal. I was not blown away by any of the experiences over royal.

We did eclipse out of Vancouver and had a very nice time but my expectation for celebrity was too high. Entertainment was good, but less than royal, Alaska cruise so plenty of kids but somehow, they seemed better behaved than on royal. Food is subjective and we don't do specialty but always dine in the dining room as opposed to buffet, we found it very similar.

I like the more open feeling of the royal ships, never done oasis class, mostly quantum class.

Basically, I think they are becoming more similar than not these days and we booked our next trip on royal as soon as we got off the ship!

  7. We are boarding next month and have had some of the same reservations reading some of the complaints.

I choose to ignore negativity as many just need to complain and there are many wonderful experiences being had that are rarely reported on.

As you can see from the responses here you only hear the good if you actually ask the question and I thank you for doing so. embarkation champagne is always low quality so nothing missed there and I am sure that the food will exceed my expectations, just looking forward to a stress free week and not cooking, cleaning, doing dishes or even fixing my own drinks.

Enjoy your time and please report back.

  8. Round tripping out of Vancouver. Thank you, this is the specific info I was hoping for.

Thinking for this one we might just disconnect for the week and enjoy timeless Alaska old school and share photos once we are home.

  9. Ships wifi is always expensive, its kind of silly as it costs the cruise line next to nothing I would think. Nevertheless it is nice to be able to stay in touch.

Is it possible to use mobile data on your device as the passage is apparently in the US? Not just in port but on the ship between ports.

I have not seen this asked so I apologize if the topic is redundant.

We will be cruising round trip out of Vancouver.

        Thanks

What does " I have not found the cruise tour on any of the usual websites for booking" mean.? Which tour as you need to be more descriptive and explain what you're asking better .

For example, find a cruise on cruise critic only shows the cruise portion of these adventures, not able to book anything involving the land portion offered by the cruise line, therefore I assume i will have to deal with RCCL directly.

  11. I am looking to book soon for 2023 and I have not found the cruise tour on any of the usual websites for booking.

Is this something you have to book on RCI website? Even when I have booked with RCI in the past (through nexcruise onboard)  it always was assigned to my travel agent after booking. There seems to be a lack of info on the land portion of these trips (except all seeming to say not to go with royal but do princess or hal) this is going to be a big deal for us, and I want to do it right.

    Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks.
