  1. One of the toughest decisions in life one has to make! You WILL be seeing Bailey again! Take care!
  2. Hi Ann! Thinking about you and Pat! Please give him our warmest regards and best wishes for his complete recovery! Take care!
  3. Nothing beats a good ol' fashioned 4th of July parade! Thanks for posting!
  4. Then that most definitely makes you part of the Greatest Generation! Thank You!! Enjoy that voyage and your long awaited visit!
  5. If I'm reading your question correctly, you would have to fly trans-Atlantic to one of the London airports (Heathrow or Gatwick). Then arrange for transportation to Portsmouth which is located on Portsea Island. London to Portsmouth is 1 hr and 20 min by rail and just short of 2 hours by road. Not sure which embarkation port you want to leave from for your return trip by sea; HAL generally uses Southampton (top far left on the map below) Portsmouth is one of three remaining Royal Navy stations in Great Britain and home to its two strike carriers, Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales.
  6. #2 I'm afraid! Some of that stuff these Einstein's are throwing up in the air sounds like military-grade explosives
  7. This map shows her old location at Berth 49. She is now at #52 higher up the map
  8. The 4 former HAL "S"-class ships: 1. Vasco da Gama (ex-Statendam) 2. Renaissance (Ex-Maasdam) 3. Celestyal Journey (ex-Ryndam) 4. Aegean Majesty (ex-Veendam) Plus 2 former "R"-class ships 1. Borealis (ex-Rotterdam) 2. Bolette (ex-Amsterdam)
  9. Just an FYI, that former Soviet Foxtrot-class sub in front of her, B-427 Skorpion, is not doing too hot either! Been closed since 2015, has raccoons living inside , and is up for disposal
  10. Time will tell! https://lbbusinessjournal.com/business/development/with-queen-mary-back-in-citys-hands-officials-eye-new-development-plans/
  11. Very sorry to hear! All the best to you and Bailey!
  12. The 2nd "S"-class ship, the former Maasdam, in her new colors as Renaissance. Her new owners are Compagnie Francaise de Croisieres / the French Cruise Company. They purchased her in Sep 2022
  13. Looks like she arrived in Elefsina/Eleusis/Elefsis from Malta on 01 July, after departing Valletta on 29 June
  14. Close but no cigar as they say, Roy! 😁 Hope you are doing well! Maria and I were talking about you over the weekend when the topic of the Queen Mary in Long Beach and the brunch you invited us to came up. Was tat 2019 already?
  15. You're right! They will add one (or both) BB King's All-Star vocalist(s) to their "salsa" / "Latin" show (the show title escapes me), and have also added the two piano tinglers to another show (and, yes, that show title also escapes me, boy, oh boy, ðŸĪŠ but I will find out)
  16. A look at what HAL's former Ryndam III, the 3rd of the former "S"-class, looks like nowadays, She has been renamed Celestyal Journey and is at the Palumbo Shipyard in Valletta, Malta for some TLC to the tune of 24 Million $$$$. She was originally christened Ryndam (or as HAL's former Captain Frans Consen used to say in his noon speech "Rrrrrrrrrrrryndam") in 1994 by her godmother, Madeleine Arison, spouse of Micky Arison, former chairman and CEO of the Carnival Corporation. In 2015, she became Pacific Aria for P&O Australia, and in 2020, Aegean Goddess for SeaJets which never really got off the ground (sea bottom). She was sold early this year to Celestyal Cruises
  17. Apparently, on "select" ships. Will find out early next month on Nieuw Amsterdam wazzup with that
  18. Different group altogether but apparently, the Step One dancers are starting to rotate also! More cost cutting, I suppose 😐
  19. Never developed a taste for those slimy shelled gastropods, but that's just moi ðŸĨļ
  20. Little late, sorry, but from a Yank; HAPPY CANADA DAY, eh! 🏒
  21. Thanks for the Sat morning laugh, Brian! 😁 ðŸĪ™
  22. Hit and miss! As an officer, it's always been voluntary whether to attend these functions or not! What has been discussed here is true! Some fine folks took these gatherings, even including the hosted (by Capt. Jonathan Mercer on the Amsterdam GWV) PG dinners as a "gripe" fest of "all things wrong" with the company and on the ship. There is a time and a place for that stuff! Use some discretion!
